Ingredients

  • 3oz sugar

  • 4oz butter/margarine

  • 4oz rolled oats

  • 3 tbsp jam

  • 5oz plain flour

Method

  1. Mix all ingredients together to the 'breadcrumb' stage (It should look a bit like a crumble mix).
  2. Press 2/3 into a dish, approx 8” by 6” (I use a small metal baking dish).
  3. Dot with jam/pie filling and cover with the extra mix.
  4. Cook for approx 20-30 mins at 180C until golden brown.

Handy Hint

Eat with cream, custard or cold cut into slices as a type of flapjack.

    I devised this recipe for my dh who has high-cholesterol, and oats are helpful, as wll as delicious. This is a super-easy recipe I use all the time - it can be poshed-up for sunday-dinner, or served cold for tea/snacks.
