Chicken wings in hoisin sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 3 slices ginger (I grate a fairly large chunk - we LOVE ginger…)

  • 2 tsp sherry (or vermouth/wine/rice wine)

  • 3 tsp soy sauce

  • 3 tsp soy sauce

  • 8 chicken wings

  • 2 cloves garlic chopped

  • 3 spring onions cut into 1 inch pieces

  • 1/2 tsp hoisin sauce

Method

<ol> <li>Heat a glug of oil and stirfry the spring onions, ginger and garlic 30 seconds, then add and brown the wing pieces.</li> <li>Add the hoisin, soy and sherry, mix, cover, and cook on a low heat for 20 – 25 minutes.</li> <li>Turn over halfway through to colour the wing pieces (sometimes I forget to).</li> <li>Serve the wings with steamed rice and Asian greens.</li> </ol>

Handy Hint

<p>Wiht the chicken wings, cut off the wing tips (the knobbly bony bit at the end) and keep for stock</p>

    Kids love this meal (it even got my US nephew - a very fussy eater - eating rice finally!). Any leftovers make an easy lunch the day after.
