Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 1 eggs

  • 2 slices wholemeal bread

  • 1 freshly grated nutmeg , (optional)

Method

  1. Heat the oil/butter in a frying pan.
  2. Beat the egg, milk and nutmeg (if using) together.
  3. Dip the bread into the egg mixture for about 30 seconds, then turn over for another 30 seconds (or until the bread has absorbed lots of the egg mixture).
  4. Put the egg soaked bread in the pan and fry until golden, then turn over.
  5. Serve with baked beans.
