1 onion, sliced or diced
1 tin tomato
250ml red wine, (not any old plonk, you'll be able to taste the difference)
1 clove garlic
1 tin baked beans
- Brown the sausages (ideally in a frying pan so that you can conserve the juices).
- Fry off the onion and garlic in a saucepan.
- Add the beans, tomatoes and wine to the onions, then allow to simmer for 20+ minutes. Add the sausages and any juices (adds to the flavour)
Serve with left over roast parsnips and sprouts as a Boxing Day meal. The rich sauce goes really well with the strong flavoured sprouts.
