In honour of the publication of Mumsnet's first cookbook – Top Bananas! – we asked our Twitter followers for their best twecipes in 140 characters or less. Here's what they came up with.

@Jenni000 Kidney beans, egg, coriander and mixed herbs. Mix, mould into burgers and grill. Bean burgers!

@RawWatfordEdge Spread tinned refried beans over a tortilla; top with cheese & another tortilla; pop in hot pan till cheese melts, eat with salsa.

@MummyBarrow Slice banana and place in freezer until solid. Purée. Et voila: 'one-ingredient banana ice cream'. It's dairy free too.

@DillyTante Sweat onion in half jar of Patak's tikka masala paste. Cook chicken in pan. Add masala paste, passata and coconut milk. Simmer.

@feakins25 Boil and drain spaghetti. Fry onions. Layer the spaghetti and onions with chopped tinned tomatoes and slices of strong cheddar. Oven cook.

@Holyrudegirl Chop baked potato in half. Scoop out insides and mix with cheese & onion. Refill and put in oven for 10 minutes. #yum loaded skins!

@rachellacey77 Mix cooked pasta with crème fraîche, fried courgettes, basil and a squeeze of lemon juice. Top with grated parmesan.

@practicalpam Fry onion and add curry paste & 1 jar mango chutney. Pour over chicken breasts in ovenproof dish. Bake at 190°C/375°F for 45 minutes.

@couldbecalmer Fry garlic, chilli, cherry tomatoes, lemon zest, tinned crab, basil and capers (if you like). Chuck over pasta. Voila!

@cloudberry07 Boil sweet potatoes (cubed). Then fry potatoes in mixture of oil, chilli flakes, salt & pepper and honey. Serve with rice. Totally yummy!

@BeesPantry Put 250g oats, 25g unsalted butter, 125g brown sugar and 3 tbsp golden syrup in a food mixer and blend. Press in tray, bake for 25 minutes at 180°C.

@Xennia79 Wrap 100g feta cheese securely in 1 sheet of filo pastry. Fry in oil, then drizzle with honey. Serve.

@lauralolli Put roughly chopped onions, good sausages, potatoes and carrots in oven dish, drizzle with olive oil & honey and bake for 45 minutes at 200°C.

@Swift_thoughts Cut a banana in half length-wise, put a lollipop stick in the banana and cover in melted chocolate. Freeze and eat!

@LuckyandCute Mix half a finely-chopped onion with a soft avocado. Add chopped chilli, salt and lime juice for perfect guacamole.

@JuliaWordFire Bake a handful of asparagus for 15 minutes, add new potatoes for another 15 minutes, add salmon steaks, cherry tomatoes, basil and balsamic vinegar for another 10 minutes.

@GussieGrips For a dip for fruit kebabs, add syrup and chopped bits of ginger (to taste - from a jar of stem ginger in syrup) to a tub of crème fraîche.

@chanson2010 Wrap chicken breast in tinfoil with a chopped mango and a splodge of sweet chilli sauce. Bake at 200°C for 35 minutes.

@ruth_pat Mix 3 halved sweet potatoes, 500g leeks, tin tomatoes, seasoning, stock and crème fraîche light. Simmer for 20 minutes and blend. Yummy soup.

@mari_stewart1 Fry lamb steaks and deglaze with tarragon vinegar. Fry shallots in lamb fat. Add double cream & fresh tarragon. 

@CattonKelly Fry sausages in wok with onions. Cut up sausages. Fry chopped sweet potatoes, parsnips and carrots in chilli and garlic.

@nataliejpiper 200g sugar, 250g peanut butter and 1 egg, mixed together and baked for 20-30 mins at 160°C/gas mark 3. Best cookies EVER!

@mcmurphy72 Tropical smoothie: diced mango chunks, 3 tbsp lime juce, 2 cups coconut water, pinch of cayenne powder. Blend until smooth.

@katylittlelady Mix mince, onions & parsley. Mould round Babybel cheese minus wrapper. Bake at 200°C for 40 minutes.

@kpcuk Tuscan cakes - think fishcakes but using left over roast chicken. Delicious



@ShellofHerts Chop & steam chicken with basil, cook spaghetti, drain, throw in pesto & baby tomatoes. Mix together and top with grated parmesan.

@Luckysammystarr Add cauliflower & bacon to a standard macaroni cheese recipe. Top with breadcrumbs and more cheese! A family favourite.

@mummyevans2 2 tins chopped tomatoes; 1 chopped carrot; 2 cloves garlic; 2 tbsp purée; 500g lean minced beef, 2 tsp basil & oregano all in pot. Bolognese sauce.

@cazcut123 Bake chicken breasts with garlic, paprika, chorizo, mushrooms, courgettes, chopped tomatoes and Manchego cheese.
