The BAFTAs kicked off the awards season with a bang last night – here's our roundup of who won what.  

And we've a brilliant new talk topic too – the Mumsnet Film Club is the place to be if you're a film critic manquée (or just like looking at the lovely dresses). 


Best Film - Boyhood

Richard Linklater's ambitious coming-of-age drama, filmed over twelve years with the same actors, picked up the big award of the night. 'Have just finished watching it. Abso-bloody-lutely fantastic.' – Wordsmith

Best Actress - Julianne Moore

Awarded for her performance in Still Alice as a woman who suffers from early-onset Alzheimer's disease. 'Julianne Moore is every bit as good as the critics claim.' – echt
 



Best Actor - Eddie Redmayne

 Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything 

Eddie triumphed with his performance in The Theory of Everything as celebrated physicist Stephen Hawking. 'Eddie Redmayne is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend.' – RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

Best Director - Richard Linklater

The American director won the award for Boyhood - an film about growing up, family and human relationships. 'Beautiful, understated film.' – ArsenicFaceCream



Best Animation - The Lego Movie

Featuring the voices of Will Farrell and Chris Pratt, this minifigure marvel scooped the animation award. 'I loved it! You WILL be singing Everything is Awesome for the rest of your life though.' - SoonToBeMrsB

Rising Star - Jack O'Connell

The This Is England and Skins star has well and truly made his mark on cinema with Angelina Jolie's Unbroken and the prison drama Starred Up. Jack was given the only award that's voted for by the public.



Outstanding British Film - The Theory of Everything
