January 2013 - Business Minister, Jo Swinson, led a discussion of government initiatives with leading family friendly businesses on Tuesday 29th January at our Mumsnet Family Friendly ‘Results and Resolutions’ 2012 review. Business representatives from the retail, finance, travel and leisure sectors gathered in central London at The Athenaeum, with organisations attending including O2, Tesco, Matalan and BT.
The ‘Results and Resolutions’ event featured Q&A sessions with Mumsnet Co-Founder Carrie Longton, Jo Swinson MP and Vicki Shotbolt from The Parent Zone. Representing the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, Jo Swinson MP outlined the Government’s guidance and information on the new shared parental leave policy and reforms to flexible working. Business representatives also had the opportunity to share best practice tips, to network and to take part in peer-to-peer learning from other programme members.
June 2012 - Family Friendly in Leeds
It was great seeing so many new faces at the Family Friendly breakfast event - hosted by Family Friendly Programme member Squire Sanders - in Leeds on June 21st. There was lots of good learning all round; we heard from our panel speakers, Carrie Longton, the co-founder of Mumsnet, and Fiona Severs of Lexington Gray who specialises in finding part-time and flexible roles for lawyers, and Patricia Walsh, the Global Chief HR Officer of Squire Sanders, wound up the morning with her passionate talk about how much they have learnt and benefited from being members of the Family Friendly programme. March 2012 - Family Friendly workshop
We followed on from our very successful City event with a fantastic HR workshop which looked at the challenges and opportunities for family friendliness from an internal perspective. It provided a great opportunity for HR professionals and managers with an interest in diversity or FF to network with professionals facing similar issues, and share ideas and best practice.
We would like to thank Talk Talk, for very kindly hosting this event. A big thank you also to all those who attended.
