I have a MK2 Galaxy (02 reg) and had a MK1 before that. Perfect family car - acres of room, full size rear seats, you can park it on a sixpence, flexible seating and good storeage. Diesel engine will go on forever (got 260K out of first Galaxy and it's still going with new owners). Go for Ghia model for decent spec interior and TD engine for fuel economy (MK2 does 45 mpg for me daily) and power. Absolutely LOVE my Galaxy!

Perfect for families of 5 or more. A 5 seater with 3 proper seats that can accommodate 3 child and baby seats and an enormous boot, or a 7 seater, with still room for bags or a buggy. The back 5 seats all fold flat into the floor so you then have a van, brilliant for moving furniture - I have got a 3 seater sofa in the back. Middle seats slide to adjust leg room, of which there is plenty, even with 7 seated, and also the two outside ones push back to make things more comfortable for sleeping children.
Slightly higher driving position gives great views of the road. It is a pleasure to drive and although a very big car, you soon get used to parking and reversing it.

I love our Galaxy because I can just chuck everything in and not worry about space. But I do think that there are lots of blind spots if you're reversing and both DH and I have backed into things that were low down and so out of sight. I suspect that this is just the case with cars like this.

not the most stylish car, but very practical, reliable, and easy to drive, a good family car.I have 4 kids and often need to take other kids around so need 7 seats, a good size boot for buggy.other family cars have small boot, no good to fit lots of shopping and buggy. we are driving to France soon so great car to travel , , has lots of good storage for toys, dvds,etc.

7 seats and loads of space for the kids and their mates.

Also doubles up as a van when you take seats out, handy for house moves if you can't afford a removal firm!

Very comfy and high up so great view of road ahead.

Despite it's size, it's still a nifty mover and can be slung
around with ease!

LOVE this car, wouldn't part with it for any of it's more expensive cousins.

We bought our galaxy when expecting number 3. Wanted something spacious with space for 3 car seats in the middle and 2 adults in the back for grandparents etc. We did loads of research on safety and space and decided that the galaxy was the best. Have to say it is the best car I have ever driven. Lovely visability and driving position.

2 problems - lack of storage space for nick nacks. They have not thought about practical uses for different areas for things such as CDs etc. Second the boot is completely flat so things move to the front of the boot and when you open the boot things fall out.

Having had a Renault Grand Scenic we needed a proper 7 seater. It has to be used for both the business AND the kids/dog. The Renault could only just take kids in the boot and even then that was a squeeze.

The Galaxy is brilliant in terms of space. Comfortable for all 3 in the back and can easily seat adults in the boot with a little boot space too - you can gain entry to the 3rd row by flipping forward the 2nd row which is handy. Both 2nd and 3rd rows can be moved forward/back which is great.

We chose this on the basis that we could fit at least 3 children (in car seats / boosters) in at any one time, plus the dog, plus still have room for luggage.
Ours is the 1.9 diesel automatic (2004), so it's not particularly quick off the mark, but does around 40mpg, and the seats are removable, so if need be, we can take out all 5 of the back seats and create a massive space for transporting furniture etc.
Equally, we've done a few trips with all 7 seats in use, and there was plenty of headroom and legroom for everyone.
Ours has done around 65000 miles now, and has been relatively problem-free. The suspension needed tweaking last year, and the air conditioning is not the best we've ever had, but that's just the age of the car, I think.
New versions of this spec seem over-priced, but if you look hard enough there are some really good deals on the second hard market.
