Had the Discovery 3 years ago when we had a farm, but moved to a town and changed to various cars that were more economical etc etc. At the first whiff of moving back out to the country I snatched at the chance to get a Discovery 4 and I will never stray again. Completely love it. Makes me smile EVERY time I drive it. It's crazy how much you can fit in ... kids, animals, more kids, bikes, kayaks on top, you get the picture. And I love that I can always trust it to get me to collect the kids whatever the weather is choosing to do - and round here it has got me through ice, floods and mud that other cars simply can't get through.

I've never had a problem with this one, or the one before - very reliable.

I love ours . Yes , it's thirsty , but if you think your errands out it doesn't have to be . Ours is regularly full of dogs , our kids , other people's kids , animal feed and is the best towing vehicle I've ever had . Nothing, absolutely nothing causes it a problem . The only problem I have is keeping it clean. And it's easier to park than my small car . Love it . If only it were self cleaning ....

We live in Kenya so wanted a good off-roader for safari and a nice car for driving in city traffic. It absolutely delivered on the off road part, when it was working. However we've had it for 7 months and it has been in the garage for the past 3 weeks, and no less than 5 other visits before that. In 7 months! It has totally not been worth it. When it has been working properly, it is a nice, stylish, spacious brilliant off-roader. When it hasn't been working, for the majority of the time we've had it (too computerised for it's own good), it has been a complete pain to fix, and cost us thousands (just to replace an electric parking break cost £800. What's wrong with the old fashioned mechanical one?) I would tell everyone to avoid this car unless you have bottomless pockets and a good second car to turn to when it's at the mechanic's, again.

Every time we think about changing this for something a little smaller, or more economical it comes up trumps and we fall in love with it all over again.

It accommodates 3 car seats easily in the back, and happily seats 2 6ft plus adults in the pull up seats in the boot. It has got me through roads impassable in most cars when I need to visit someone dying in a hospice, and taken us on holidays with a full boot and roof box. Best of all for us, there really is nothing quite like it when you have to lug the whole family plus dogs and luggage on a 500 mile journey, which we do quite regularly.

I actually find it good round town too, easy to park, if a bit slow away from the lights.

Worth every penny we spent on it, unlike the waste of space Merc we had before it!

Depends what you want it for really. It's huge, it's thirsty, it's a bugger to park. It is temperamental mechanically.
But, it seats 7 adults in comfort, 3 car seats in the back, the boot is huge, and it will cope with any terrain or weather. If you can't find a parking space, you can park it in a ditch or up a tree if you like. It's definately a can do car. I love mine.
