Toyota has issued a recall for its current-model Prius hybrid car.
The recall affects 4947 UK-registered Toyota Prius models built between March and October 2009. Around 242,000 models are affected globally.
The problem concerns the brake pressure accumulator, where it's possible a crack may develop, weakening the brakes. If this happens, a warning light will appear on the dashboard; if you see this, Toyota recommends the car should not be driven and you should report the problem to your nearest Toyota centre.
All owners of the affected model will be contacted by Toyota over the next few weeks to make an appointment to bring their car to their nearest Toyota centre for the three-hour fix to be carried out.
