Honda still most reliable used car brand, reveals survey
Hondas make the most reliable used cars, according to the annual survey of more than 50,000 used cars by WhatCar? and used car warranty provider Warranty Direct.
This is the eighth year in a row that Honda has topped the study, which covers cars between three and seven years of age from 38 manufacturers.
In fact, brands from the Far East dominate the top 10 of the survey, with only Chevrolet and Ford managing to break the stranglehold, finishing in seventh and ninth places respectively.
The three worst manufacturers are Porsche, Land Rover and – at the bottom of the table – Bentley. Their relatively high repair bills contribute to their poor results in the survey.
Warranty Direct only evaluates models for which it holds at least 50 policies. The survey's scoring system takes into account such factors as the car's age when a warranty claim is made for it, how long the fault takes to repair and how much the repair costs.
