Teach your child about history with this informative book on how women's suffrage was achieved. We have 10 copies of Votes for Women! to give away.

Votes for Women! How women gained the right to vote is an exploration of the successes, failures, and hopes of those who dedicated their lives to the cause of women's suffrage and improving women's lives.

The book follows the efforts of historical figures from Barbara Bodichon to Christabel Pankhurst. It also includes short biographies of well-known women's suffrage campaigners like Emmeline Pankhurst, Millicent Fawcett and Emily Davison, as well as some lesser-known ones like Lydia Becker and Dora Marsden.

Beginning with information on how laws are made, the book goes on to introduce three of the most influential women's suffrage organisations - the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies, the Women's Social and Political Union, and the Women's Freedom League. The approaches and achievements of each group are discussed, and at the end of the book there is a quiz so your child can see which of the three organisations they might have joined.

Votes for Women! is recommended for children aged nine to 12. The book is printed in full colour and on FSC-assured renewable paper.
