Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and the Tale of Two Treasures
Our November children's picture book of the month is Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and the Tale of Two Treasures by Kristina Stephenson.
Sir Charlie Stinky Socks, his faithful cat Envelope, and his good grey mare return in a new hair-raising adventure.
The King has discovered a mystical map featuring a Tomb of Doom (Eeeek!), a River of Riddles (Splash! Splosh!), a Mine of Much Despair (Beware!) and a Puzzling Pit (Yikes!), but most importantly of all, it's a map leading to TREASURE!
And isn't it right that a bold, brave knight and his faithful companions should be chosen to go on this quest for treasure? Oh yes!
But everywhere they go – tippity toe, tippity toe – there are footsteps behind them. Oooo! Soon everything starts to go wrong. What has happened to Sir Charlie Stinky Socks? Has someone bewitched him? Or stolen his magical stinky socks? Oh my!
Charlie Stinky Socks and the Tale of Two Treasures is the fifth book starring the eponymous hero. His past adventures have seen him crossing paths with wily witches, fire-breathing dragons, ghoulies and ghosties up to no good, not to mention a very spirited princess and some colourful beasties. There is never a dull moment for this fearless knight.
About the author
Kristina Stephenson originally trained as a set and costume designer. After having two children she turned to illustration and the character Sir Charlie Stinky Socks is based on her son, Charlie – although thankfully not the stinky feet bit! Visit Sir Charlie's website, where there's info about the Sir Charlie app, activity sheets and you can even sing along to the Sir Charlie theme tune or email him a question.
