There Was An Old Geezer Called Caesar
Mick Twister, who wrote the above specially for MN, has been relaying daily news events in limerick form for the past three years on Twitter. And now he's reflected the whole of human history in 100 five-line limericks.
There Was An Old Geezer Called Caesar is a brilliantly compact and witty book that opens with 'There once was a great ball of gas...' and ends with 'The violent death of Osama...' and covers pretty much everything in between.
Each page (covering Cleopatra, Einstein and the invention of the atom bomb, among many others) has a catchy rhyme plus a short description of the historical events.
A great way to gen up on things you feel you ought to know and learn about those you never knew – and remember them all far better than you thought possible.
