Maisie Hitchins stolen sixpenceMaisie Hitchins is the rip-roaring new series from Holly Webb, author of the best-selling Animal Stories series and popular Lily and Rose books. Join Maisie on her first exciting adventure in The Case of the Stolen Sixpence.

Maisie Hitchins idolises Gilbert Carrington, the famous detective. She longs to walk in his footsteps and dreams of adventure; instead, she's stuck doing chores in her grandmother's boarding house.

But when she finds an abandoned puppy, Maisie is thrown headfirst into a world of intrigue.

Stolen sausages, pilfered halfpennies and a fast-paced bicycle chase through the streets of Victorian London put Maisie's detective skills to the test as she follows the trail of her first mystery.

About the author

Holly Webbx150Holly Webb was born and grew up in south-east London, but spent a lot of time on the Suffolk coast. When she was 10, Holly fell in love with stories from Ancient Greek myths, which led to her studying Latin and Greek, and eventually to reading Classics at university.

Although she always preferred reading to writing (and originally wanted to be a librarian so that she could read books all day) Holly has now written over 60 books for children. These include the Animal Stories and My Naughty Little Puppy series, the Lily and Rose books, Maisie Hitchins, and another forthcoming new series about a little girl called Emily Feather.

Holly lives near Reading with her husband, three children and a cat. She writes all her books at home, sitting in her special purple armchair.
