How Tom Holland Eclipsed his Dad
Mumsnet's first e-book giveaway
The story of how a boy dances his way from London's West End all the way to Hollywood, overtaking his 'celebrity' dad along the way...
An enchanting fairy tale from the world of make believe - only it happens to be true and all because of his mum. A besotted new mum who spotted that her firstborn had rhythm and that he liked to dance. Dad wasn't particularly bothered. After all, this was a baby who couldn't yet walk!
Eight years on, a producer of Billy Elliot The Musical agrees with his mum when he chances upon young Tom dancing at a local YMCA class. Would Tom like to audition for Billy? Blimey. Was mum's intuition right all along?
Aged 10, Tom became Billy Elliot - his first ever speaking part in a play and with no drama lessons to his name let alone a drama school.
So beginning a journey that would end up on a red carpet in Hollywood and with Tom being long-listed for an Oscar. Tom Holland, 16-years-old and star of The Impossible with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. How I Live Now with Saiorse Ronan (summer '13) and Locke with Tom Hardy currently in production. His dad, Dominic Holland, 45-years-old and still playing pubs! The story of Eclipsed is complete and is as funny as it is heartfelt.
An intensely human tale that is relevant to us all. To all parents who want the best for their children and more broadly to any of us who have ever dared to dream for ourselves.
