Workwear: the bloggers' edit

devil wears prada

This week, Mumsnetter snowgirl1 asked for recommendations for fashion blogs oriented around workwear. Finding inspiration for office wear can be difficult - especially when you have to juggle the demands of (semi)respectability with something that hides the spilled breakfast stains and doesn't require hours at the ironing board.

So, we turned to our fab style bloggers for their top workwear suggestions - and guidance on how to solve the age-old conundrum of how to go from work to evening style.

style at every age

This spring, Style At Every Age recommends breaking the maxim that if you wore a trend first time round, you shouldn't wear it the second time round. Culottes are a way to instantly take your wardrobe into the warmer months. If you're feeling a little apprehensive about the style, then opt for a longer pair - then you're only one step up in the style-stakes from a cropped trouser <eases self slowly into trendiness>.

style guile

As MNer Floisme noted, it can be hard to find inspiration for clothes if you don't work in a corporate environment. Style Guile provides plenty of outfit ideas for a more informal work setting where you still need to look professional.

With her regular work outfit posts, Twenty Mum Thing is a great resource for office inspiration. For those Spring twenty mum thingmonths when it still feels more like mid-December, forgo your winter wardrobe and stick on a patterned jumper and bright accessories to jazz things up a bit.

Another problem with workwear is that it often comes with a hefty price tag. So, The Workwear Edit - a blog picking out the best, affordable high street pieces - is reallyegyptomaniac invaluable. It's organised in clear sections based on what you're looking for, and is well worth a browse.

And finally, if you're sick of the cold weather - as Egyptomaniac is - sometimes, you just need to put on some ruddy yellow trousers (so the well-known saying goes).
