Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

The thread for first time home birthers (or thinking about it) - over here!

(994 Posts)
I only just found out I was pregnant 10 days ago, and it is of course early days, but I have been doing a lot of research and am seriously thinking of having a home birth.

I'm a member of my Due March '09 ante natal club thread, but I don't want to go on about home birthing there where the majority will be planning a hospital birth (don't want to bore them!) I'd like to start this thread for all those people who'd like to talk about the pros and cons, planning, expectations and realities of home births, especially if it is your first baby, or first home birth.

Has everyone else's other halves been fine at the thought of a first baby HB? Or did you have to do some convincing?

Hang in there boobz smile
Boobz & Mr Boobz - go for it!!!

(shocked that your hosp would prefer HBs just to happen in daytime hmm)
Well done on sticking to your guns, toffee in particular sounds good!

Look forward to more updates. (oh and don't forget to move threads...)
I knew it I knew it, Boywith themousey hair you legend, caught a back view of it and thought it was you. Well we are coming into our nocturnal crisis. Valley team midwifes are now off duty so had to call the hospital to ask about getting someone out, there answer.....come on in....Our survey said NO! Yeah Boobz was awesome and cue me getting a little aggro on the phone with senior mid wives phoning me to tell me I was being irresponsible but hey ho, minutes later magically they had found a community midwife. So toffees in hand and apples and bananas and lots of strong coffee for me we are going to push on through to the morning and see how we do. You are all legends and Gemzooks power to you, hope it goes really well thinking of you.

Thanks for all your support we are really going for it!!!

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
