eyelash's baby arrived only 5 days late in a fantastic water birth

(61 Posts)
ds3, baby Jacob, arrived this morning weighing in at 10lbs 1oz. I woke at 2am with contractions about 10 mins apart and about 1 minute long. Rested and read a book and woke dh to stick on my tens at 3.30am. At about 5.40am intensity really changed so rang midwifes at 6am to come. dh also rang his mum to come and look after the boys and get them to school and nursery.

midwives arrived at 6.15am, dh (crippled by muscle spasm) ran big bath and I got in at 6.30am. The relief was fantastic. Stayed in bath for rest of labour, one midwife pouring water over my back and tummy and other midwife holding hot water bottle against dh's back. Started pushing about 8.25 and jacob appeared with caul intact at about 8.42 and then he was fully delivered at 8.45am with sun streaming through the bathroom window.

He has latched on beautifully and is now asleep in my arms. ds1 and 2 are madly in love, particularly with the gifts baby brought.

We couldn't have asked for a better experience and I am so thankful to my fantastic midwives. I look at him and it feels like he has always been part of our family and i look forward to getting to know him in the coming years.
