Ok guys, Catinthehat2 started the last one. Who wants to join another?

I'll start

England 2 Algeria 1 goal scored in 17th minute. My £100 paid smile

Off to work now.

See you all for kick off at 730.

Pofacedagain Fri 18-Jun-10 16:15:12

Nil Nil. Unless England get v lucky.

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 16:17:23

mosschops30 Fri 18-Jun-10 16:18:26

I'll got 2-1 to England.
Goal scored in 33rd minute
£50 for me please grin

fruitshootsandheaves Fri 18-Jun-10 16:22:04

3-0 to england
first goal 8th minute

no money not even virtual money as I am mean.
I'll bet 5 special K minibreaks.

What time is kick off? DH normally picks DD up from dancing at 7.30 - looks like I might have to do it.

mosschops30 Fri 18-Jun-10 16:39:57

I meant 1st goal scored in 33rd minute.

Kick off is 7.30pm, I cant wait grin

MrsDrOwenHunt Fri 18-Jun-10 16:48:35

algeria 2 england 1 mehdi to score second five mins from time

belizabus Fri 18-Jun-10 16:49:13

3-1 England. I'll go one step further and name the scorers. Lampard from a penalty, also Crouch, who will come on for Heskey, and Rooney. Don't care who scores for Algeria - our pummeling of them will make it meaningless anyway. grin

zippy79 Fri 18-Jun-10 16:51:17

3-1 to Algeria. Lets face it England only managed to hold USA to a draw.....

MerryMarigold Fri 18-Jun-10 16:59:00

1-0 to England. Goal in 78th minute, own goal by Algerian defense.

Dreary, defensive match followed by 10 minutes of better attacking play at the beginning of the second half, with 2 shots on goal which go nowhere.

Maybe with a couple of beers I could be more optimistic (it's been a hard day!).

allshoppedout Fri 18-Jun-10 17:00:21

GypsyMoth Fri 18-Jun-10 17:00:55

england 2- 2 algeria

first goal in minute 14

last goal 90 mins by lamps!!

3-2 to Algeria.

was going to say 0-0 because there seem to be practically no goals this world cup, but I might as well stick my neck out and be different grin

whats the betting that if we order take-away tonight we won't get it til midnight cos everyone else will be doing the same?

actually am not very different after all.

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 17:14:01

where's the faith? hmm
england 3 - algeria 1
we'll win this and go on to qualify top of our group.

Smilehighclub Fri 18-Jun-10 17:20:58

2-1 to England. 20 mins in England scores.

Algerian goal slips into the net due to defensive England cockup.

Sammyuni Fri 18-Jun-10 17:21:28

2 - 0 to England

Algeria are in bad form have not won any games and their centre forward is suspended.

MizDemeanor Fri 18-Jun-10 17:29:03

England 3-0 Algeria 0 first goal 6 mins

maresedotes Fri 18-Jun-10 17:34:52

2-0 to England. We'll score in 22nd minute. £100 paid.

RuthieCohen Fri 18-Jun-10 17:39:49

another 1-1 draw methinks. Algeria score early, England make us sweat.

I'm good for a tenner grin

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 17:52:01

2-1 to England

Rooney to score in 44th minute

At least one England player to get injured.
Two yellow cards

2nd goal will be Algerian and another goal keeping error leaving England to field Joe Hart against Slovakia.

Winning goal will come from a scrappy corner in the last 5 minutes leading to general rioting as the referee declares 7 mins of extra time where we hoof the ball aimlessly and win by the skin if our teeth.

Adrian Chiles will not wear a tie.

[proffers handfull of loose change]

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 17:52:47

One goal each, both scored when I nip out for a wee, I fall asleep before the end due to pregnancy exhaustion. Can't have a beer to make myself feel optimistic sad

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 17:53:11

put me down for a tenner

LeninGoooaaall Fri 18-Jun-10 17:55:27

England 3-0 9th minute. 100 squid in.

mrsshackleton Fri 18-Jun-10 17:57:06

2-0 to Algeria

Capello will sub Green for James in despair grin

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 18:00:31

I reckon James will be in the starting line up TBH.

(shame as England were SO dismal last time it seems unfair to blame Green for one slip up)

[die hard WestHam fan]

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 18:02:43

England 2 - Algeria 1
offers handful of cents and a weight watchers chocolate biscuit

mrsshackleton Fri 18-Jun-10 18:07:13

James is in the starting line up, but I predict he'll cock up and Green will have to come back on

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 18:31:01

Chiles has no tie

Thats it I declare myself the winner !

3BreastsInMyShirt Fri 18-Jun-10 18:53:52

England 1 Algeria 0

First goal at 37 minutes

First red card at 47 minute

My $100Eroticon paid.

schilke Fri 18-Jun-10 19:02:12

England 4 Algeria 1
First goal in 13th minute.

I'm hoping that writing that will make me feel less worried. I don't think I can actually bring myself to watch!

I'll pay a few cold Savanna ciders and a bag of peanuts.

catinthehat2 Fri 18-Jun-10 19:05:22

1 <yawn> - 1 <boring>

First goal in the 37th minute <utter tedium>

Here's £100 in 1p & 2p pieces, I guarantee it will be more interesting putting them into £1 piles than watching the game itself.

I'm off to watch some paint dry wink

catinthehat2 Fri 18-Jun-10 19:06:22

(I notice Lenin has visited the cash point this time)

SomeGuy Fri 18-Jun-10 19:19:36

england 2, algeria 0, 25th minute

magicOC Fri 18-Jun-10 19:35:03

Hi guys.

Just back in time from work.

Varied predictions tonight, goal scorers/mistakes etc. Makes it more fun than the footie wink

No time now to list all the predictions, but, easy enough to check back later.

Enjoy the match, hope it's more interesting than the last one.

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 19:46:58

god...can't watch thjis

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 19:53:09

Oh gawd

This is dull

I'm going to post this in the vain hope I will be proved completely wrong and we'll score in the next 20 seconds..

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:09:50

we score before half time

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 20:10:53

This is embarrassing!

MerryMarigold Fri 18-Jun-10 20:11:41

It's still dull. In the words of the commentator, "England still haven't got it going?"

I'm looking forward to my winnings! (I predicted 1-0.)

Dh predicts 2-0 to England and claims he got Germany right today so he is on a roll!

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 20:11:45

I predict we don't make it through the group stage blush.

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 20:13:39

its the 44th min

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 20:14:33

I might go and have a bubble bath

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 20:16:44

I'm going to have more wine, tis the only way grin.

Meglet Fri 18-Jun-10 20:17:47

oh we are shit.

I'm emigrating to a country that can actually play football. Which only seems to leave me with Brazil hmm smile. Or Argentina.

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 20:22:02

Meglet - never been there but I'd opt for Argentinagrin.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 20:23:43

Oh the shame. I suppose I would be apathetic if I, like them, was only earning a tenner a week. Oh hang on - that's right, they aren't. They earn RIDICULOUS MONEY to play like shite. Gah!

I had a bath in the hopes it would make something happen. Sadly it didn't.

So, Wimbledon then.....

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 20:26:15

this is SHITE... I can't bear to watch!
Somehow I've managed to drink 1/2 bottle of wine since's nervous drinking. don't even know I'm doing it.
ds1 is sitting calmly in the armchair
ds2 is oblivious
I'm pacing the lounge like an expectant father!
This can't go on.

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:34:41

gah ffs

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:35:19

the vino going down very well though

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 20:35:46

Right, this is so bad I'm now heading in search of the wine I was saving for tomorrow!!

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 20:36:39

This is getting so desperate I just put £100 on Greece to win the World Cup.

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 20:36:52

Have just given in and poured a beer. Is that bird still sitting on the back of the net? It's the most interesting thing I've seen so far.

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 20:37:08

Ingles2 - only 1/2 a bottle, you're a lightweight!grin.

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 20:39:25
Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 20:40:26

I have a winebox blush

It might get a bit messy

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 20:41:38

Ten yards out from goal and you pass it backwards!

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:42:25

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 20:43:28

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:43:54

what's wrong with their heads? a lot of work for hte sports psychologist to do. no confidence

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:44:47

bloody hell. will be drunk by end of this

Meglet Fri 18-Jun-10 20:45:27

application form for Argentinian citizenship

They need a rocket up their backsides. Spoilt brats.

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 20:45:47

Wordonascreen - that's more like it (the wine box I mean)grin.

Meglet Fri 18-Jun-10 20:47:02

oops, that wasn't meant to be a link.

Too much wine.

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 20:47:35

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:47:43

meglet. noo form there. please check link. giving it serious consideration, ffs

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:49:10

we. have. to. win. this

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 20:49:48

This reminds me why I am not normally a football fan.

Meglet Fri 18-Jun-10 20:50:07

I predict the FA are now considering how much to offer Maradona to manage us for the next WC.

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 20:51:39

I've resorted to youtube and old england songs

currently 1982 with a kazoo this time we'll get it right

(we didn't)

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:52:01

agrree beta. this is why i don't like football. too traumatic

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 20:52:08

This is unbearable. Has the Wunderkind managed to do one decent pass or has he dropped every bollock ball?

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 20:54:00

My toddler DS would do better than this.

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 20:54:08

well the bottle's gone now orienteer.. grin
<cracks open the second>
I reckon they Capello should sub Rooney!
I don't know what the hell is going on with him tonight but it might give him a much needed kick up the arse.

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:54:15

i. can't. believe. this

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 20:55:46

Am I allowed to put a bet on an own goal by Algeria? Its surely our only chance.

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 20:56:18

ITV have just said that we can still win the group even if we draw this match! Yeah, right!!!

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 20:56:30

He needs to play Cole and crouch

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 20:56:43

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:56:56

it's like when you're about to come but can't quite get there grin

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 20:57:08

[irony emoticon missing from last post]

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 20:57:15

well thats ambition for you

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:57:36

we'll win this

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 20:58:29

That's it Willie!
That's exactly it!

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 20:59:08

There are 18 minutes left to do it. FFS.

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 20:59:42

yes you are right willie

we will

I still believe

[channelling Baddeil and Skinner circa 1996]

Its coming home...

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 20:59:46

Have we over hyped Rooney or what??

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 20:59:55

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 21:00:07

Can't wait to see how Chiles and co. handle the aftermath if it ends like this. hmm

stressed2007 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:00:29

it's even worse with the sound off

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 21:00:39

Is that the England fans whistling in the crowd?

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 21:00:43

Vindaloo, vindaloo...

stressed2007 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:01:08

how can they be so bad?

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:01:34

I could murder a curry

[half way through a wine box emoticon]

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 21:01:58

Come on England - play like you actually want to be there!

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:01:59

it's their heads. they don't believe

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:02:28

i could cry

magicOC Fri 18-Jun-10 21:02:35

What a load of rubbish.

A 4th division club could do better.

FFS even Scotland have a better chance than this lot of lifting the cup and they're not even in the bloody finals. grin

I've said it before and i'll say it again,in @66 the players were earning peanuts, but, they knew how to play the game.

Cut the wages. Make them work for the money. Big bonuses for every major win, basic wages otherwise.

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:03:11

Icould cry with frustration

[pregnant and sober emoticon]

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:03:33

i could play better and I'm currently really unfit

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:04:43

capello looks flumoxed

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 21:04:44

Performance related pay would be about right tonight.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:04:58

Am with you notnowbernard - am sure this is slighty more bearable with a glass of wine or four.

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 21:05:24

Sunday League stuff on a muddy pitch on a wet Saturday in February.

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:06:25

I'm just singing

please god

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:06:32

I could play better!
DS1 certainly could!

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:06:44

When they watch the replay, I wonder if they will work out how much time was spent kicking the ball backwards. Would be v. interesting.

stressed2007 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:07:48

I agree they get paid too much whatever the results. So it does n't matter. It has just killed the determination.

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:08:14

dd just said she doesn't care if algeria get a point as it's got so boring hmm

stressed2007 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:08:41

They really don't look very talented at all - is this really our best team?

MerryMarigold Fri 18-Jun-10 21:09:23

Where's my own goal in the 78th minute gone?

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:09:31

not watching bloody football after this bloody game

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 21:09:51

serious bad language here from dp and his friend hmm but can't blame them!I am regretting making my homemade england bunting grin

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:10:12

OH please!

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:10:50

I don't get FC's tactics

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:10:59

Oh well I got my 2 yellow cards

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 21:11:04

That bet I made on Greece winning the World Cup is looking better by the minute. smile

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:11:29

My heart sinks when Crouch comes on

I don't know why

hedgepig Fri 18-Jun-10 21:11:42

I'm thinking about emigrating to somewhere with a decent football team, anyone else coming???

CatIsSleepy Fri 18-Jun-10 21:11:53

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:12:16

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:14:06

FC looks anguished

magicOC Fri 18-Jun-10 21:14:09

I can see them getting beat you know.

Algeria have a better chance and seem to be the better team tonight.

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:14:10

cos he's crap Bernard?

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:14:46

Its just

I am still gamely singly like a loon and wearing my stupid England deedly boppers

It ain't pretty

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:15:39

Coz all he's got in his favour is the fact that he's a gangly oversized lanky twat Bernard??

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:15:54

singly is a pissed version of singing

CatIsSleepy Fri 18-Jun-10 21:16:09

oh they are so pathetic

they just can't be bothered can they? arses

I almost wish algeria would score!

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:16:23

Yes, Ingles, that would be it grin

It always feels a bit desperado sticking him on

Long ball city

Hope for him to get on the end of a corner etc etc

God, this is dire

hedgepig Fri 18-Jun-10 21:16:50

well done Words you can always cover them in tinsel for Christmas grin

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:18:04

It's now risible....

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:18:04

i'm shock

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:18:36

where the fuck is rooney?

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 21:18:43

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:20:15

Fucking BOO and fucking HISS

They deserve to go out

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:20:31

How much would you like to be a fly on the wall in the changing rooms now???

magicOC Fri 18-Jun-10 21:20:39

stressed2007 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:20:40

I think FC face says it all

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 21:20:57

BeenBeta Fri 18-Jun-10 21:21:07

Mathematically we CAN still win the Group - unbeaten so far!

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:21:34

Oh well at least i've had antioxidants from all the red wine I've imbibed.

You can't believe how carefully I typed that.

[looks on the bright side]

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:21:35

the dream is still alive according to Chiles hmm

MerryMarigold Fri 18-Jun-10 21:21:37

Oh well. Sorry to all you optimists...

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:21:42

no they won't go out
they need to win against Slovenia to go top of the group
But Christ!
Algeria haven't won against a European team since 2000!!!!!!
are we contenders?
are we hell!

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 21:22:38

Exactly how much do they get paid for their "day job"?.......perhaps just a little tooooooo much!!

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:22:48

What do you reckon FC's first words are??

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 21:22:58

Dp is claiming to be adopted now and says his real mum is from brazil

Alibabaandthe40nappies Fri 18-Jun-10 21:22:59

mrsfrisby I think he was being sarcastic, bloody hope so.

Bunch of overpaid useless twats, they should be ashamed of themselves.

CatIsSleepy Fri 18-Jun-10 21:23:13

they don't look like they could beat Wolves B team at the moment never mind slovenia

schilke Fri 18-Jun-10 21:23:37

Oh dear. I think I was a bit out with 4-1!

We don't look good.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:24:24

esp after the goal fest that was Slovenia-USA

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:24:32

They get paid extortionate amounts for their club and perform to such a level that they are selected to play for their COUNTRY. Which is unpaid

Not about money for me

They are psychologically blocked

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:25:09

po faced

Come collect your winnings

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:25:12

And playing out of position

Pofacedagain Fri 18-Jun-10 21:25:23

I was right.

My 5 year old son could have played better than Wayne Rooney in that game.

They won't beat Slovenia.

Criminal the amount they get paid.

stressed2007 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:25:25

they really don't even look like a premiership side

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 21:25:28

DS "asked" to go to bed at half time.......England Football=bedtime problems cured!!!

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:25:54

why? Too much pressure bernard?? Or just henman syndrome?

Pofacedagain Fri 18-Jun-10 21:25:57

yes what do I get?

magicOC Fri 18-Jun-10 21:26:21

Don't normally bother with footie in the run up so.....

Excuse my ignorance, but, why is Beckham not playing?

Too old?

orienteerer Fri 18-Jun-10 21:27:01

As others have said - they're paid tooooo much for the day job!!!

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:27:01

Backs against the wall, chaps

BitOfFun Fri 18-Jun-10 21:27:46

His foot nearly fell off a few weeks ago, magic.

Jeez that was rubbish.

Sammyuni Fri 18-Jun-10 21:27:56

England are RUBBISH why we should ever think they can win the world cup i will never know lets be realistic England are always like this best hope if they get to qualifying they don't deserve any world cup.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:28:22

Spoilt brats to a man boy

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 21:28:25

ITV showing Rooney walking off the pitch complaining about fans booing them. angry

Pofacedagain Fri 18-Jun-10 21:29:09

Take away the money make them play for their careers like other players.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:29:29

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:29:53

Sammyuni Fri 18-Jun-10 21:30:15

Sorry meant Quarter finals*

Im very disheartened by this performance Algeria even played better. They should remove all these silly adverts proclaiming how good England is or 'Maybe, just maybe'.

Maybe nothing

Yes i am angry

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:31:54

Oh, I don't fucking know

What's he wafling on about

magicOC Fri 18-Jun-10 21:32:27

Cheers BOF, yep that'll stop him.

But, heh hang on a minute, maybe he could still have done a better job. grin

Did you hear Rooneys comment?

What the hell does he expect? Of course they deserve the home fans booing.

I'm surprised he can't hear all the cursing from over here.[ wink]

LetLoveRule Fri 18-Jun-10 21:34:16

Best moment of the night was undoubtedly David James with his top off at the end. Made my evening anyway...

EightiesChick Fri 18-Jun-10 21:34:17

Capello doesn't seem to know why they were so bad either. confused And it's his birthday! I hope he celebrated earlier.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:34:39

Am a sec school teacher and I teach a 13 year old fat sulky boy who reminds me so much of the great white hope (Rooney). He also would have a tanty about being booed, "It's not faaaiiiiirrrr"

megcleary Fri 18-Jun-10 21:35:00

Beckham is injured, to whoever asked I did enjoy the commentaters asking to bring Stuart Pearce on.

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 21:35:27

Agree david james shirtless almost made up for it

KerryMumbles Fri 18-Jun-10 21:37:23

i have never seen such lazy bastards in my life.

oh you took the ball off of me? I'll just watch you dribble it away and stand here with my hands on hips and have a fucking smoke.

oh the balls isn't kicked DIRECTLY to me? I'll just let some Algerian take it. Can't be annoyed.

that was pathetic

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:37:31

well. that's the thing. we are a brilliant team.. something wrong with their heads. during qualifiers we were superb. it's the heads. really missing beckham

Pofacedagain Fri 18-Jun-10 21:38:05

Yes I appreciated the David James moment.

How much do you think the Algerian team members get paid a week? Would be interesting to find out.

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 21:38:34

NOT a brilliant team.A dated concept the way they play compared to south americans. They look lazy sluggish and unfit

Pofacedagain Fri 18-Jun-10 21:39:50

I particularly liked the moment Rooney stood with his foot on the ball for about 30 seconds a few feet from the net until an Algerian player relieved him of it.

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:40:14

noddy it's the heads. nothing wrong with our ability/pllay it's something stopping them psycologicallyu

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 21:40:24

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:40:42

poor. most of all from Rooney.
Chiles et al are talking courage now. We have NONE, no courage, no conviction, no belief, no responsibility
We have spoiled, overpaid, petulant children playing for us.
So disappointing.

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 21:41:08

Well not much in their heads to be wrong have you heard them speak?

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:41:40

Agreed Noddy. They look like they have been up half the night on the beers, and am absolutely with you Kerry, just standing there waiting, noone chasing, no creative play etc. And wtf is wrong with Wayne?? Is he missing Colleen??

KerryMumbles Fri 18-Jun-10 21:41:50

the coach should have pulled each and every single one of them off and put second string on. I've no doubt they would have done much much better

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:42:06

noddy grin

KerryMumbles Fri 18-Jun-10 21:42:47

Sounds like "I don't get out of bed for less than 10,000"

super model shite

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:43:13

bloody rooney

noddyholder Fri 18-Jun-10 21:43:14

I am gutted really but they are crap

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:43:35

I'm looking forward to the proper analysis, Alan Hansen style wink

magicOC Fri 18-Jun-10 21:44:16

Kerry, agree totally with you.

"Spoilt brats" nevr a true-er phrase spoken.

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:44:52

fuck the fuck off chiles.

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:44:52

Adrian's being uncharacteristically optomistic confused

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:45:09

maybe sabotage??

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:45:29

so true Kerry
now it's all Cappello's fault
he's not out there kicking the fucking ball
I saw a couple of decent players tonight, players who wanted to fight for it...lennon, heskey, james..
then there was, Rooney, Lampard, and Gerrad.
What did they contribute exactly, to justify their huge wage and adulation?

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:46:20

Rooney i mean. not Chiles

EnglandAllenPoe Fri 18-Jun-10 21:46:23

i don't think that was a wildly positive match for Algeria either - Enland controlled the match, just not well enough to bloody score....

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:46:29

Be positive slovenia is another day lets cling on to that

oH do fuck the fuck off chiles

fightingtheLA Fri 18-Jun-10 21:46:50

My dh and ds both were asleep before the end! Says it all.

KerryMumbles Fri 18-Jun-10 21:47:58

did anyone watch usa\slovenia match?

2nd half usa. now THAT was fucking hussle.

ReformedCharacter Fri 18-Jun-10 21:48:18

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:34:39
"Am a sec school teacher and I teach a 13 year old fat sulky boy"...

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:48:29

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 21:49:02

didn't see it
is it worth watching on iplayer?

schilke Fri 18-Jun-10 21:49:32

What does FTFOC mean?

Dh and ds asleep before end here too. They were so bloody lacklustre. No oomph. No drive. Our dog plays better football than that lot.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:50:28

Hey - take it with a pinch of salt, he's lovely sometimes but has a tendency to sulk and has a similar shrek like quality to Wayne. Am sure he isn't your son. And you don't have to teach him French for 5 hours a week.

KerryMumbles Fri 18-Jun-10 21:50:41

2nd half yes. slovenia dominated first half. 2-0. usa kicked ARSE 2nd half 2-2. Got a great goal which was disallowed but then every single fucking commentator and all over the net has said it shouldn't have been. usa should have won 3-2

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:51:03

My favourite moment of the USA/Slovenia match was when the commentator said :

"Rob Bradley (USA manager)... he's always had the look of Hannibal Lecter about him" [no irony]

Ingles, I woudn't bother, no.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:51:14

FTFOC - Fuck the fuck off chiles. I like it.

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:51:16

ooooo scary x post with willie

I'd rather not cling

We've got the best league in the World

And we fall apart internationaly

I don't think its the money (have known a few premiershop footballers in my time and they'd all give their right ball to play for England)

I don't know what it is

Words fail me (and that doesn't happen often)

schilke Fri 18-Jun-10 21:52:39

Oh I see.
I'm a bit slow tonight.

KerryMumbles Fri 18-Jun-10 21:52:52

it' true though bernard. He is positively nightmare inducing. I don't imagine he raises his voice EVER to that team. He just fixes them in his beady gaze and speaks softly with insidious intent...

ReformedCharacter Fri 18-Jun-10 21:53:24

Shrek like quality. I think it's awful that you talk about children like this.

What's FTFOC? (fuck the fuck off cunt, maybe?)

schilke Fri 18-Jun-10 21:53:47

Only 40% of players in Premier League are English. That's the problem.

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 21:55:40

chiles reformed

I wouldn't call him a c

(maybe after another red I might)

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 21:56:27

It did make me LOL though, Kerry

But I then had to try and fend off dd1 (6) who demanded to know what I was laughing about despite my protestation that she WOULD NOT HAVE A CLUE but still she went on so I had to sort of try, then we kind of went round in circles a lot about it

Similar sensation to watching the England game tonight, actually

magicOC Fri 18-Jun-10 21:57:17

Reformed, glad i'm not the only one taken aback by that comment.

mrsfrisby Fri 18-Jun-10 21:58:32

I'm not sure you know much about survival techniques in difficult schools. And anyway, Shrek is quite cute in some ways grin

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 21:59:53

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 22:02:31

Is anyone going to watch BBC's take on it?

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 22:03:45

switched over

KerryMumbles Fri 18-Jun-10 22:04:26

nah going to watch lock, stock...

Wordsonascreen Fri 18-Jun-10 22:04:31

Oh please don't call a 13 year old that

I'm happy slagging off overpaid adults

williewalshsballs Fri 18-Jun-10 22:04:40

actually, scrap that. going to watch good wife i sky plussed. better use of my time

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 22:04:44

Why is Motty not commentating?

I know he's been on the later show but why not at the games?

I love him, he is a national treasure

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 22:05:31

Bunch of lightweights wink

northlondonchoclover Fri 18-Jun-10 22:12:23

Not much fighting spirit in display at all. Compare that to the North Koreans, who get paid a fraction of these guys

notnowbernard Fri 18-Jun-10 22:18:16

MUCH more doom and gloom reality on BBC

Ingles2 Fri 18-Jun-10 22:23:57

you are so right choclover.
The North Koreans wanted it sooo badly, and it showed. They were fantastic imo and I wanted them to win.. Admittedly it might be because they'll be shot when they get home but still

notagrannyyet Fri 18-Jun-10 22:27:41

Watched it all down at the cricket club.
The lads all went out to play mixed age kwik cricket before half time.

BBQ and company great

Wine fantastic

Game a load of crap

Night all!

northlondonchoclover Fri 18-Jun-10 22:29:23

LOL yeah agree Ingles2 .. hahaha.. score or die..

well the england players getting absolutely 'trashed' by the media.. maybe its better to be actually shot.. wink

such a boring disappointing game !

oh dear. just put news on.

mrsruffallo Fri 18-Jun-10 22:37:15

I don't know,it must be hard having a manager that doesn't speak english

Its turning into the eurovision.

mrsruffallo Fri 18-Jun-10 22:54:01

I man, the interviews with fabio capella are excrutiating.
What's wrong with Harry Redknapp or Roy Hodgeson?

puppa Fri 18-Jun-10 23:54:37

at least we r consistent in the world cup, consistently rubbish!!!!

UnquietDad Sat 19-Jun-10 09:01:36

Indeed - England, nul points!

While North Korea played as if their lives depended on it. Which they probably did.

The thought of summary execution for nil-nil draws might focus the minds of messrs Terry, Gerrard, Lampard, Dickhead Cole et al.

That, or the thought of performance-related pay.

notagrannyyet Sat 19-Jun-10 11:01:31

Do they get paid for playing for England then? You'd have thought they would do for nowt. I'm sure many would......they'd make a better fist of it toosmile.

notagranny - they do get paid for I am sure I read somewhere that they are all donating their world cup fees to charity.

williewalshsballs Sat 19-Jun-10 11:44:56

still disgused at that woeful display. NO. there's nothing fucking wrong with capello. there's nothing wrong with the ball, the pitch, the wags there/not there, the players are talented, they're fit, they've practised, there's nothing wrong with the tactics, nothing wrong with manager player communication

james obrien on sky got it right...11 boys, the age of men, too scared to lose. lacking character. their heads need checking. they need to just get on the pitch and play. ffs

This is why we will never win. thosse 11 boys need to take responsibility for the way they played. we all need to stop assigning blame to all manner of extraneous factors that really are neither here nor there. they've been given everything. nothing more that anyone can do for them except a good sports psychologist.

williewalshsballs Sat 19-Jun-10 11:47:46

so what should capello do?

UnquietDad Sat 19-Jun-10 12:06:03

Yes, I believe they are paid and put their fees towards the Footballers' Benevolent Fund, or whatever it's called.

well said wwb. They played rubbishly and need to take responsibility for themselves.

northlondonchoclover Sat 19-Jun-10 14:46:59

btw do you think the players actually understand cappello when he gives them instructions? i can hardly understand him in interviews...

might be worth getting a coach that speaks a language that they can understand

catinthehat2 Sat 19-Jun-10 14:51:41

I went to sleep at 1/2 time. DH did not have the heart to wake me. He read a book. The end.

Can somebody recommend a decent game in this WC - that's 2 wasted evenings already - would really like to watch a decent match as I only do this every 4 years. PLEase?????

pagwatch Sat 19-Jun-10 15:25:46

You could have watched England beat Australia in a truly fab rugby match this morning.
That cheered me up no end.

I got to the sad point last night where they were so clueless that it was almost funny.

And Henry Winter pointed out in the Telegraph this morning that apparently the bird that settled in the Algerian goal ( presumeably because he enjoyed the quite) also changed ends at half time grin

I loved the headline too....

England Fan confronts team in dressing room - 20,000 others show considerable restraint

northlondonchoclover Sat 19-Jun-10 16:49:00

Lol..about the bird and the england fan

I've never seen the Telegraph so angry about anything - utterly fab article!!!!

catinthehat2 Sat 19-Jun-10 18:58:34

I shall find that article.....
