Mia’s Wood is an area of woodland bought in memory of beautiful red headed Mia who was just 13 months old when she very sadly died in October 2011. If you have read MiaAlexandrasMummy’s threads about her daughter, you will not have failed to be moved by her love which pours out.

In her memory, Mia's family are developing this natural space for the local community around Milton Keynes and in Buckinghamshire to love and enjoy, and already trees and flowers have been planted. They have great plans to take this forward and develop the site further, making it truly magical. It really is such an inspirational, fantastic project, and in September we are planning a fundraiser to help them do this.

What the family say about Mia's Wood
Mia's Wood hopes to pass on Mia's love of nature to local families, children and young people, and especially to bereaved families. At Mia's Wood, we want to create an environment which promotes an innocent wonder of nature, to stimulate curiosity and imagination, to encourage children to preserve our fragile natural woodland through both visits and special events. For bereaved families in particular, we would like to think that visits to Mia's Wood will provide both hope and solace.

Just beautiful.

Sheep, bunnies for starters

Oh wow. You ladies have all just made me cry... Can't really express adequately how touching and amazing this project already is. Please accept the heartfelt thanks from me, MrMia, her rainbow brother Finn, and all her family.

<Hugs> xx

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 18:00:56

Do you have those brooch pins that are sewn onto the back of crocheted stuff? Because if you do, I could make another magnolia, like on the square for Superman, if you'd be willing to sew the brooch pin thing on for me once I've posted it off. I don't have any. Or I could make flowered headbands - those are much easier than that !*&)*&^!!!! bloody magnolia grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 18:01:12

Oh I bloody love robins!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 18:02:17

We call robins Bobinas here now grin

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 18:02:50

And that's not the magnolia.... fail...

I shall be happy to make a thingg or two, for the wonderful miasmum and this wonderful wood they are creating. Will have to see if I need wool.

on the sheep front my wonderful mum who has made the rainbow sheep at the easter craft sale and thd christmas sheep at the christmas one is as we speak jetting off to australia for a two month holiday. So no sheep or other crafty bits from her. :-(

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 18:03:35

Jacks Happy to sew a brooch back on this end. Thanks lovely. X

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 18:04:23

Jacks, yes I have broach pins. Rather easier than a magnolia, crocheted flower brooches sell well.

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 18:05:13

WOT? Fan! She must cancel!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 18:05:34

Bugger, keep x posting!

Fan hope she has a lovely, lovely time. X

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 18:06:26

And the magnolia wasn't on Superman's square either... double fail... need more coffee... anyway, here it is grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 18:06:32

Although she coulda offered to take us

<grumble grumble>

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 18:06:32

Mhw02 Tue 08-Jul-14 18:07:26

Thinking of you and your family MiaAlexandrasMummy.

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 18:08:07

Hmm, yes, looking at it again, it's rather heavy and would droop. Ok, I'll make some flowers for pins. Do you think flowered headbands would go over well?

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 18:08:42

'Twas the beautiful centre of lovely Snorris' Woolly Hug. Gorgeous.

brew <---- for Jacks smile

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 18:09:09

Since I need to post my stuff about a week earlier than the rest of you - when will last posting date be, as nearly as you can tell right now?

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 18:09:11

Oh bloody arf.

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 18:10:10

Wtaf... where did that random bold come from?

ArtyBat Tue 08-Jul-14 18:13:33

I'm a mosaicist, and would love to donate this for Mia.

It's called Starry Night Tree, and was made with children in mind. It's a small piece - 7" x 7" , easily postable.

Is this ok?

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit Tue 08-Jul-14 18:14:50

Oooh, I can definitely do some bits for this. I've ended up with a spectacular yarn stash that needs using up!

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 18:15:18

Arty, my goodness, that's stunning.

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 18:19:09

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 19:11:11

Hello! Jacks are you causing an international incident again??

Will get something done, I'll have a thinky over some cake

Thinking of Mia and her family xx

JulesJules Tue 08-Jul-14 19:56:52

Ha Pistey - was just coming on the thread to ask innocently if robins were woodland inhabitants grin

Do sheeeeeps live in woods?

I think Jacks is fizzy grin

Jacks blacksheepwools have free delivery anywhere in the world again

Arty that's amazing!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 20:03:45

I thought of you Jules, we have a Ginormochick in our garden! Have seen Mum and Dad Bobina feeding their chick, and it is bigger than they are!

[Happy Bobina moment]

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 20:05:37

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 20:09:11

JulesJules Tue 08-Jul-14 20:14:20

Yesss! Sheeeeeeps!

Count me in, would Owl's be OK ? I have a bit of a craving for them at the mo and would love to make some more without cluttering up my daughters bedroom with them lol

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 20:19:53

Ooooooooo owls!! Yes please!!!

Thank yooooooooou thanks

I am now at home and I can see all the photos of the amazing arty crafty items which you all are willing to contribute. Slightly in love with them all!

I have just shown MrMia this thread and all the various links, photos and comments, and like me, he is astounded by the generosity of the MN community - as well as the creativity shown here.

As for Mia's Wood, there are indeed sheep, and wildflowers (and nettles), moles, pheasants and all kinds of trees and grasses… robins and blackbirds live there too. There is an assortment of bugs and caterpillars and such things, but I'm not sure if they translate so well into crafty items...

Oooooh I have also found a pattern for Owl cushions !! would they be too big ?

Tarlia Tue 08-Jul-14 20:26:13

Arty, that is amazing! Pistey, love the sound of hedgehog bunting..is there a pattern?

I'm in. There are some gorgeous woodland themed patterns around at the moment. I'm pretty sure I have the body parts of an amigrumi rabbit just waiting to be sewn (shudder) together.

Are we making a woodland themed hug?

ArtyBat Tue 08-Jul-14 20:28:25

Oh Heels ....just love your owl....I have a granddaughter who would just love him....so you've just gotta make him!

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 20:32:44

FFS, Ninja, you're going to cost me money again angry.

Fizzy, no international incidents here. Unless someone steps on me. Then they shall feel my Canadian wrath.

Which is a giant load of crap because Canadians don't do wrath very well at all.

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 20:35:27

And for the record, I am not fizzy (or Fizzy, for that matter), it's way too early here to be fizzy (just gone noon), I am tired. Insomnia is an evil bitch.

Of course now I want the bottle of bubbly in the wine cooler. Thanks a lot for putting that idea in my head...

You could dip them in maple syrup and leave them out for the bears!

Unless the Mounties get them first

<runs out of Canadian things>

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 20:37:33

Dip what in maple syrup? confused

Ice hockey! That's wrath-ful and violent! Get them with the mallet thingy

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 20:39:17

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 20:39:25

Oh, dip anyone who steps on me in maple syrup! Now I get it.
Seems a bit of a waste of syrup...

The person who steps on you and feels the wrath! Man you are off the planet today aren't you? grin brew

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 20:39:49

Erm, the mallet thingy is called a hockey stick grin

Twunk Tue 08-Jul-14 20:40:01

I'm in grin

Paying it forward, as it were.

I can do you a woodland garland or bunting…. Not sure what's going to be on it yet. <thinks>

Twunk Tue 08-Jul-14 20:40:26

Oh and I have some very cute fox fabric - will think up an idea for that too.

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 20:40:26

I am tired... <pouts>

Is maple syrup nice in coffee? <ponders>

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 20:40:36

Oh! Moles! I must have a look for them....

Oh yesa stick! I was thinking hook. But hockey hook didn't sound right!

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 20:41:50

Maple syrup is lovely in coffee. Mmmmm....

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 20:42:26

Ah, can do bugs and caterpillars.

There's a slug on the Pinterest board................

Aw moles!

I am a mole and I live in a hole!

AnyaKnowIt Tue 08-Jul-14 20:46:39

I could make something, not sure what yet tho...

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 20:50:53

Bugs, beasties and moles now on the Pinterest board. smile

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 20:58:45

I am about to play serious whack-a-mole with the one that has invaded my garden angry.

I may be out on a limb here but it doesn't sound a good day for you Jacks cake brew and wine for later

Jacksmania Tue 08-Jul-14 21:14:47

Aw man blush - sorry if I sound grumpy. <takes off crankypants>

Just tired, and not happy with Monsieur Mole in my garden, but otherwise not bad. Thanks thanks for cake and everything though!

SarahAndFuck Tue 08-Jul-14 21:38:34

I can't quite believe I'm saying this but I'm in love with this knitted slug. I can honestly say I never thought a woolly slug would capture my heart but it has.

So if anyone feels like making him, you have one very keen bidder already. I can't knit or crochet so unfortunately I can't volunteer to make him myself.

I have an idea for something in felt I could make, but I am a slow crafter with a scalded hand and a half finished commitment already on the go. I will do my best to get my idea together for August though.

AnyaKnowIt Tue 08-Jul-14 21:51:24

I've started a mole, only thing I had the colours for.

Sarah, what is felt like to work with?

Strawdolly Tue 08-Jul-14 22:14:22

As for Mia's Wood, there are wildflowers and all kinds of trees and grasses. There is an assortment of bugs and caterpillars and such things, but I'm not sure if they translate so well into crafty items...

What about collecting the seeds from the flowers and whatnot that will attract the wildlife and sell them in pretty little envelopes? Then wee precious Mia's memory will be spread even further x

If anyone can do a simple sketch of whatever flower seeds are in the envelope and find an easy way of putting it on many envelopes that would make it even more attractive and you could charge more wink

I love the slug smile. Will have a think if there's anything I can come up with in time ....

Strawdolly Tue 08-Jul-14 22:19:16

Oo, I've just looked at the Pinterest page - am positively drooling over it smile

When do the schools go back in England?

WoolPixie Tue 08-Jul-14 22:20:00

Oooh count me in. Will have a think about what to make.
Much love to Mia's family thanks

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 22:23:34

Strawdolly, state schools break up 19th/23rd July. Most back around 2nd Sept.

WoolPixie Tue 08-Jul-14 22:24:04

Have a great book with all sorts of bugs n things to make, will have to dig it out. It probably has a slug pattern too...

Strawdolly Tue 08-Jul-14 22:26:29

Thank you, Knotty smile

rubycon Tue 08-Jul-14 22:40:54

Sarahandfuck - if you have the pattern I'll make it and a couple more!

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 22:44:48

Rubes, I think it's in a book. Looks like a combo of knit and crochet.

Suspect WoolPixie may have the book I'm thinking of. Title summat about birds and beasties...bit vague as the smallest darling giving me the runaround <teef>

rubycon Tue 08-Jul-14 22:50:53

the frilly bit looks knitted - if anyone not being harassed knows the title I'd have a look for it!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 08-Jul-14 23:05:24

Hope small settles soon Knots. Mine watched footy and now there's an awful lot of shrieking and faffing.

Can't quite believe it but I luffs that slug. Normally they make me go <judder> but that one makes me think awwwww. smile

Time for bed. Night all. X

KnottyLocks Tue 08-Jul-14 23:11:48

That's the book.

Smallest now snoring between me and himself. Time to give in. Night all and thanks x

Gullygirl Wed 09-Jul-14 08:44:44

I would love to make some items for this, I am not in the UK though,am in Australia, would that be OK?
I have so many patterns for butterflies, fixds and owls, would love to contribute.

Tarlia Wed 09-Jul-14 08:53:42

Good morning. There are some really cute acorn yarn craft patterns and woodland animal masks that would work up beautifully in felt on Pinterest. How about some flower hair clips?

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 09-Jul-14 08:55:23

Sarah Those are fab! I'm thinking we may be able to track this slug down, fingers crossed. That's not a line one normally writes. There was a friffin HUGE monster slug outside my kitchen door today. Hideous. Woolly ones much nicer.

Gully All welcome to join us, we love being an International bunch of woollies!

Our Sale is the weekend of September 5th-7th, you will need to post earlier than our date of August 27th as things do take a bit longer from Australia, maybe say by August 21st? We need time to sort this end, photograph etc. Equally if there is something in our Sale that you like, you are very welcome to buy, we have shipped things to Australia before!

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 09-Jul-14 08:55:53

Ooooo Tarla How fabulous, thank you, yes please!

SarahAndFuck Wed 09-Jul-14 09:04:54

Thank you, she was very pleased with them. There is a fifth one and I strung them on bobbly ribbon for her, but for some reason I haven't taken any photos of the finished thing.

She likes her skulls and halloweeny things so as a gift it was an oddly successful one.

I'm surprised at how popular the slug is. You might have to start a Woolly Slugs group for all his fans grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 09-Jul-14 09:06:46

grin grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 09-Jul-14 09:07:41

Found my hedgehog bunting - huzzah! and <phew>

Tarlia Wed 09-Jul-14 09:10:15

Oh, I love the hedgehogs!

Kveta Wed 09-Jul-14 09:27:43

this is my foxy hat, think it'll fit 9-18 months or so.

LOVE the hedgehogs!

SarahAndFuck Wed 09-Jul-14 09:37:38

The hedgehogs and the foxy hat are great.

Mhw02 Wed 09-Jul-14 09:50:15

Aw Pistey, that bunting's adorable!

Right, I need to go out and buy a double pointed needle. I only have three and apparently I need a fourth to make some mice! I also need to work out how to knit in the round as I've never done it before, I use my DPNs as cable needles!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit Wed 09-Jul-14 10:00:23

I've found a couple of patterns this morning, do bee's count as woodland creatures?

And that slug is adorbz.

I found a real hedgehog in my cul-de-sac last night. Don't think he would fit in a large letter.

Woolfey Wed 09-Jul-14 11:06:02

Have confused myself with all those gorgeous things on the pinterest board and now absolutely no idea what to make. Some more browsing required I think. Excellent collection Knotty smile

That hedgehog bunting is just so cute Pistey!

I cut out some owl shapes last night while hubby bored me with the footy. I have started this sewing this morning, just need to order some black button to complete the eyes. Do you think I should put a hanging loop on the top ?

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit Wed 09-Jul-14 11:11:13

I've decided on a bee tea-cosy (should fold quite flat) and maybe some flower bunting. I might get a bit giddy though as there is no end of lovely own related things to make!

WoolPixie Wed 09-Jul-14 11:44:53

Yup, that's the book linked above. I shall make some slugs then grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 09-Jul-14 11:45:17

Love foxy!

We have a hedgehog in our garden, DC called it Speedy, I am very fond of it, I'll not deny grin

Bees most definitely do count!!

Yy Woollfey so many luffly things, I got lost for dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyys and tbh I hearts them ALL, my hedgies have come from a pattern on there.

Hop I bloody want a tea cosy!!

HaveTo - I think I'd say add a hanging loop, that is FABLARSE!

Crack on lovely Mhw02, crack on!!!

Thank you everybody!!

WoolPixie Wed 09-Jul-14 11:51:12

Much better than the real thing <shudder>

ArtyBat Wed 09-Jul-14 11:58:45

Hey Heels that is so speedy....and fab!

A hanging loop is a good idea. ........ or even a brooch pin on the back to make it a Bag Brooch, maybe?

Tarlia Wed 09-Jul-14 12:16:21

If postage costs were not so expensive and there were a few more hours in the day, i could get really carried away making for a woodland theme! Just so many gorgeous patterns around, it's incredibly difficult to choose!

Thanks Pistey. Arty that's a fab idea, off to search ebay smile

JulesJules Wed 09-Jul-14 14:07:27

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

SarahAndFuck Wed 09-Jul-14 23:54:03

Should say though, the original cloud pattern I used wasn't mine, but once I'd made one from the original pattern I did a bit of tweaking for the moustache cloud.

The minions are all my own work though smile

AnyaKnowIt Wed 09-Jul-14 23:58:20

Wow, they are really good.

Love the minions!

SarahAndFuck Thu 10-Jul-14 00:04:28

Thank you. I have a sneaky fondness for the purple one but DS likes the starfish minion best.

Just spotted this on FB, will try and do something.

Gullygirl Thu 10-Jul-14 02:08:19

So pleased I can join in.
And I already have the slug pattern.....

I cant knit etc anymore sad

I can still hold pliers though and would be happy to donate some of these

If they are appropriate. They make awesome key chain decorations

Tarlia Thu 10-Jul-14 19:58:46

How strange, phone said it wasn't posting, so came on the laptop. Very sorry!

Here she is anyway..

HaveToWearHeels. The petals are made of metal scales that are used in making scale mail armor. The whole thing is metal actually so makes really good key chain thingies,or broaches but Im having issues attaching them to the backs I have at the moment. I also do another made entirely of rings. Like these but short on the bright coloured rings at the mo so will be silver steel and copper

KnottyLocks Thu 10-Jul-14 21:34:15

Ooooooooooooooo SLUG! SHEEEEP!

Pretty tinny things!

Mhw02 Thu 10-Jul-14 21:50:35

Keep puffing, Galena! Those hedgehogs are adorable!

Galena Fri 11-Jul-14 14:20:31

Ok, the puffs have beaten me for now - I need to take a break, but I thought I'd share my progress so far...

Tarlia Fri 11-Jul-14 14:30:36

That St. Bernard didn't have any brandy <sulk> Could you send one with cocktails please?

I love the hedgehog taggie. I have too much inspiration grin

DH has buggered off to the pub, DD is asleep, so my flock of owls has progressed. DD has claimed a few of these as thank you's for pre school but hoping to send at least 5 to you. Going to have a go at robins over the weekend as I am all owled out !

bugger that wasn't supposed to be side ways !

MNPinto2014 Sat 12-Jul-14 00:46:06

I would love to contribute some cotton woodland teething taggie rings. Am aiming to add different heads. Is this ok?

Thank you!

KnottyLocks Sat 12-Jul-14 11:43:51

Oooooo, fabulous stuff!

I better start saving up.

And maybe decide on what to make.

MNPinto2014 Sat 12-Jul-14 13:47:38

Fab. Drops cotton ordered in bulk as would be silly to pay for postage.

Mhw02 Sat 12-Jul-14 14:37:26

I am not getting the hand of this knitting in the round lark. Am getting in a right fankle. After, oh, an hour of it, I have managed to cast on 36 stitches and knit one round, and it's all gappy where the needle changes are. Am not even sure if I'm doing it right. The needles feel so small as well!

P'rhaps I'll just make another rabbit...

JulesJules Sat 12-Jul-14 15:31:06

I'm thinking possibly Bumblelina the big boned bee <runs>

AnyaKnowIt Sat 12-Jul-14 16:00:42

I'm not doing well with my woolly mole

I have made a girls apron and a fabric rabbit. Is that ok?

Mhw, I can't knit in the round with DPNs but I can using a circular and the magic loop. Much easier and less fiddly.

Mhw02 Sat 12-Jul-14 17:08:52

Thanks, Fizzy. I'll give it a little longer - it would be rather wimpish and pathetic of me to say "uh, I can't do this" after only an hour of trying...but I may end up giving circular needles a try! ALL the suitable patterns I've found other than the already completed rabbit require knitting in the round.

(Rabbit posted upthread now has a hat and dress!)

PastaandCheese Sat 12-Jul-14 18:43:35

Just marking my place whilst I think what I might be able to make.

OK so my Robin turned into a bluebird when I realised I had no brown felt. He is a bit scruffy as I wasn't happy with his tail so mucked about with it. Just need some seed beads for his eyes.

MNPinto2014 Sun 13-Jul-14 01:28:55

Pretty bluebird

KnottyLocks Sun 13-Jul-14 09:39:28

Birdie! Loves him smile

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 13-Jul-14 11:33:01

Awwwwww Birdie! [heart]

Loving how lots of posts are being duplicated, don't know if it's an MN glitch but am getting PMs coming through in multiples. Last one came through 7 times!

I know what my next crafty project is for our Sale, am making bunny bunting. It will look surprisingly similar to the Easter pastel version, only [Lightbulb] in Autumnal shades! <beams>

Right Bunnneeeeeeeze, here I come smile brew

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 14-Jul-14 07:53:15

Multi tasking last night. Oooo and there was gin involved too. Bunnies, for bunting smile. Well that's the first Anyhoo.

Galena Mon 14-Jul-14 08:03:29

That's why they kept falling over yesterday - they were tripping over the giant bunny!

Will we be able to tell which bunnies came after lots of gin?

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 14-Jul-14 08:53:33

Told my bunny to play nice, but you see that poor blooded German footy fellow? <shamed>

Finally worked out something that didn't involve the quite frankly terrifying amigurumi. I have a pattern for a red riding hood and wolf from simply crochet that I have been getting out everyday and looking at and bottling out of. I thought I could make these into little purses with a plain granny on the back. I feel I should be able to make a sheep one as well but we'll see.

Galena Mon 14-Jul-14 19:04:43

Why is amigurumi scary?

Why? It looks petite and precise and I am neither grin and I don't know how to join 3d shapes with out wonkiness and swearing .if I can I will try the wolf but I only have this week before school breaks up and I have eagle eyed DD around who apparently I promised I wouldn't do anything but her blanket..

Pants I have been crocheting for over 40 years <cough, cough> and I can't get the hang of Amigurami. I'm also neither dainty or precise grin

Amigurami is peasey! I only started hookery at the beginning of the year.

These are my first forays into amigurami. All done around March time.

Honestly, I thought I would never get crochet, and was firmly in the knitting camp, but I've been converted!

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 14-Jul-14 20:25:13

Evening wine

Galena Mon 14-Jul-14 21:08:09

I've finished puff stitching! About bloomin' time! I have to buy some eyes tomorrow then it's making up time...

I'm loving all the pics here. And the stories of your crafty challenges are making me laugh, as are the curious multiple posting moments. thanks cake

MrsKwazii Mon 14-Jul-14 22:31:54

So excited grin

Um...little mini birdies - any use to you? Lousy photo as they're not very good at posing but that is a 1p piece for scale - there are 2 more robins nearly finished and I am sure I could produce a few more between now and the deadline? Do say if they're not right as I am sure I can find them another home if need be...

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 15-Jul-14 02:30:53

Oh, oh, oh!!!

Love the mini birdies!!!!!' Yes please! Thank you so much thanks wait til NrsK sees those grin

MrsKwazii Tue 15-Jul-14 08:00:31

SWEET TINY BIRDIES! <faints from cuteness overload>

SarahAndFuck Tue 15-Jul-14 08:10:42

I kept misreading 'birdies' as 'brides' and wondering what I was missing. I think it's more coffee. grin

The bunnies, the birdies (and the tiny minion) are all lovely smile

Galena Tue 15-Jul-14 08:20:10

Off to get hedgehog eyes today... (now that's a phrase I didn't expect to say - ever!)

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 15-Jul-14 09:01:12

<steps over MrsK>

Morning everyone smile brew

Arf at us selling teeny brides, never say never though grin

And Galena - enjoy!

mini brides could be more complicated to make than the birdies!

OK, it seems I will be making some more robins (and chicks?) to add to the flock before they take off, then. I may also have made the mistake of looking at the Pinterest board, but who knows if I will have time to do anything with all that inspiration...

I need that slug. He is amazing.

SarahAndFuck Tue 15-Jul-14 11:52:12

If we started selling tiny brides we would also have to make one tiny green bridezilla to go with them.

That slug is mine stealth, mine!

Galena Tue 15-Jul-14 11:58:57

SarahAndFuck Tue 15-Jul-14 12:12:51

Ooooh! He's beautiful smile

now I need the hedgehog too - he's gorgeous

<<sharpens virtual elbows and plans a sneaky denial of service attack on Sarah's PC for early September>>

Galena Tue 15-Jul-14 14:29:57

I'm not making another! grin

SarahAndFuck Tue 15-Jul-14 14:52:21

MrsKwazii Tue 15-Jul-14 15:01:23

I don't know why, but I think I need a woolly slug in my life. <Starts new woolly auction "Need" list>

MrsKwazii Tue 15-Jul-14 15:04:11

I love the hedgie too! Uh-oh, the woolly-want-mist is descending again confused wink

PastaBow Tue 15-Jul-14 15:49:05

This sale is like the Lakeland Plastics of yarn. 'I didn't know I needed a knitted slug until I saw him'.

Galena Tue 15-Jul-14 16:32:13

I may have bought some autumnal wool to make another mousy...

PeachyTheSanctiMoanyArse Tue 15-Jul-14 18:42:48

I shall see what I can sew, carnival costume making kicks off soon so perfect timing to get back in swing

Tarlia Tue 15-Jul-14 19:44:50

Don't know about a woolly hug auction, I think we will need to have a slug auction!!

Lovely photos, Ladies! Rabbit baby rattle, just short of an ear.

You can do it, pants, just lots of pinning before sewing, you sort of stab the pins in to anchor, very different to normal pinning. I hadn't even considered woodland stories...

HoggyTruffle Tue 15-Jul-14 20:45:52

I'm signing up for this one and will see what I can come up with. The only problem is I keep getting stuck on that pinterest page for hours!

KnottyLocks Tue 15-Jul-14 21:45:51

Ooooooooooooooo Hodgehegs!

I'm having a go at some snails.

Pinterest <SIOB>

Between that and MN my DCs are feral grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 15-Jul-14 23:14:57

Not eating them are you? Snails?

Galena Wed 16-Jul-14 10:13:09

Hmmm. What to make next...

Galena you know that hedgehog needs a friend....

Galena Wed 16-Jul-14 10:36:48

I'm not making another bloody hedgehog! The puff stitches nearly killed me!

I might make some more meeces, or some keyrings.

Galena Wed 16-Jul-14 11:57:12

Here we go... what do we think?

I also have patterns for a pear and some cherries... shall I, or not?

MrsKwazii Wed 16-Jul-14 16:47:30

Oooh, look what I bought today. Would some autumnal pompom garlands be welcome?

KnottyLocks Wed 16-Jul-14 19:17:23

Oh Galena! Crack on with the fruity treasure!

Yes! To pompoms... pom away , Kwazii!

AnyaKnowIt Wed 16-Jul-14 19:46:11

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 16-Jul-14 21:26:56

Fruit and pom poms. Good times.

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 16-Jul-14 21:28:16

What else can I make?! Keep seeing lovely things that are beyond me.

HoggyTruffle Wed 16-Jul-14 21:41:44

I read that as nice pair <flashback to nork egg cosies>.

Galena Wed 16-Jul-14 21:42:57

Oooh amigurumi baby steps taken here! It's an acorn! (Overcome lego man for balance and scale)

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 17-Jul-14 14:57:12

SarahAndFuck Thu 17-Jul-14 16:38:59

And I love MY woolly slug.

<elbows stealth back out of the woolly slug queue>

MrsKwazii Thu 17-Jul-14 17:04:52

Maybe I do have seasonal undercrackers Pistey, maybe I do wink

Right - I'm having a go at Amigurami.

I may be some time.

Ok I have a flock ready to send, they look a bit dodgy to me so I want to get them out of here as soon as possible. Is it the same address we send the squares ?. Hopefully I will be able to get some bunnies done before I go on holiday next weekend and can pop them in the post at a later date.

As soon as I find the black embroidery thread then I will have 6 mini robins. I think I will even the odds a bit with a few more chicks, and then contemplate the pinterest board. I have lots of woodlandy-fabric, so I could do some little bags or purses or something (less sociable than mini birdies which can be sewn in front of the TV!)

Could I be really cheeky?

Does anyone have about 10g of black Sytlecraft that they could send me. I would rather avoid buying a whole ball for a little project. Happy to swap for a similar amount of any of the following:
Teal, copper, gold, silver, meadow, saffron, wisteria, cream, denim, raspberry, aster or spice.

That should be Stylecraft. blush

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Jul-14 08:39:46

I bloody LOVE the owls!!

They look like they are up to mischief though grin

Thanks everyone - stealth you are fablarse, and Woolly not cheeky at all, I have none at the mo, but am happy to buy a ball to keep here for just this kinda occasion, and send some to you?

Woolly I will have a look his evening when I get home, if I have any I will pm you.

Brilliant! Thank you both smile

WoolPixie Fri 18-Jul-14 13:35:48

DontVexMeYeah Fri 18-Jul-14 13:36:26

So Woolly Slugsters, this is the latest addition

DontVexMeYeah Fri 18-Jul-14 13:36:28

So Woolly Slugsters, this is the latest addition,

WoolPixie Fri 18-Jul-14 13:39:44

Doh! Fat fingers and outing myself in one go blush

What I was trying to say was the latest addition is a little sparkly - not sure if you can see from pics as on phone...

I so, so need a slug, please can we make sure there are a few as I am never very successful on these sales !

The Owls - DD got very upset when I made the one cross eyed, she said I was being mean grin

WoolPixie Fri 18-Jul-14 14:34:53

Galena Sat 19-Jul-14 18:51:52

Rightyho... I think this is about my limit of woodland themed bits n bobs... will they do?

KnottyLocks Sat 19-Jul-14 19:07:50

Fabulous sparkly slug! grin

Galena, love them all. Huge thanks thanks

All amazing Galena, I am in awe of anyone who can actually make nice things in crochet, a square is about my limit !

Galena Sat 19-Jul-14 20:38:58

haveto, I only taught myself to crochet last month. I think because I don't know people who crochet, I don't know when something is supposed to be difficult...

youtube and google are my friends - I look for patterns I understand and which I think are nice!

The fruit and hedgehog are all from a magazine I bought.

CrazyDesire Sat 19-Jul-14 22:46:18

I tried and failed to make a ladybird, it just looks misshapen though the pattern is easy if anyone else would like a go?

I aslo have an unused 50g ball of Sirdar snowflake DK in a whitish shade (called milky) if it would be of use to anyone? Was thinking it might be good for sheep.

Galena Sun 20-Jul-14 07:04:18

Where do I send my goodies please?

WoollyBack have checked stash this morning and I seam to have everything but black sorry sad

Galena that is amazing well done you. I think because I am a knitter I can't adapt, that's my excuse anyway grin

Tarlia Sun 20-Jul-14 12:31:52

Good afternoon! Lots of gorgeous goodies! I've made two flowers, I thought I had more brooch backs, but it seems not. sad Does the lovely woolly team have any they could add for me please?

Tarlia Sun 20-Jul-14 18:34:36

Oooo, hold that thought, I might have an idea where I can find them locally - stuck at home potty training for the forseable hmm

BerkshireLocalEditor Sun 20-Jul-14 18:52:58

Have you contacted the Local Editor of Mumsnet Buckinghamshire to help? local.mumsnet.com/buckinghamshire Buckinghamshire@mumsnetlocal.com

I have almost every stylecraft colour blush. But thank you. I shall await postage instructions!

Mhw02 Sun 20-Jul-14 22:09:18

Are pigs acceptable? I realise generally little pink pigs are probably only found in woods of the 100 acre variety, but I've just made this little fellow...

GameOfScones Mon 21-Jul-14 00:14:36

I love the pig, he's adorable.

I've name-changed to post my offering, which actually is the first bit of an as yet unfinished item, but I just wanted to share him.

He's going to be one of three characters on a forest themed wall hanging decoration.

He's not big, but he is bad smile

Galena Mon 21-Jul-14 08:06:36

Oh I love wolfy! And pig!

I have posted my flock of Owls this morning to the Woolly Hugs address, hope that's correct ?

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 21-Jul-14 15:10:04

Afternoon all smile brew

I'm loving EVERYTHING!!! Tis DH's birthday in September and I think he needs a sparkly slug <beams.

Thank you so much thanks Galena to me please - do you need the address again?

GameOfScones Mon 21-Jul-14 17:12:37

Wolfy has a forest. At least he has the start of one.

Two more characters and three more trees to go.

The green things in the tree are actual leaves but the red on is a bird. Hopefully you could already tell that smile

Marcipex Mon 21-Jul-14 18:30:48

I'm making some sleepy owls; I thought they could be filled with lavender.

Marcipex Mon 21-Jul-14 18:40:47

Love Wolfy and the pig, if you had two more pigs you'd have the whole cast smile

The sleepy owls are gorgeous.

Galena Tue 22-Jul-14 06:13:13

No, I still have it. However, won't be for a couple of weeks now... smile

PastaBow Tue 22-Jul-14 15:12:57

Here is my attempt. Not sure he isn't a bit pecky looking with his beak.

I might make him a friend to peck

PastaBow Tue 22-Jul-14 15:13:54

I could tell gameofscones

GameOfScones Tue 22-Jul-14 17:01:48

I'm glad you could tell, thank you smile

I like Pecky Bird, he has a nice face.

PastaBow Tue 22-Jul-14 18:17:18

He can always have a health warning 'may peck'??

Mhw02 Tue 22-Jul-14 18:40:52

Just finished an owl. He is rather cute, if I do say so myself.

I think that's my lot now! Will post tomorrow!

KnottyLocks Fri 25-Jul-14 08:59:17

Lovely, lovely things! I must make space for some new stuff.

Still not decided what various stuff I'm making yet. Too much choice.

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 25-Jul-14 09:06:00

And still they come Knots....

Two adorable scarves from the very lovely Ruby - fox and badger, for children, they are approx 53cm long, and adorable owls knitted by the very lovely BeerTricksPotter,

Huge happy sigh - just love everything!

JulesJules Sat 26-Jul-14 16:51:44

Pistey I wouldn't leave them alone with your gin. They look a bit shifty.

I think they've already been at the gin by the look of it!

Strawdolly Sun 27-Jul-14 14:23:14

Are chickeny things any good for the woodland theme?

Doesn't need to be woodland themed does it?

I have made bunting

Greetings from deepest, darkest Norfolk. I'm on my hollibobs holiday and I've brought my stash. I'm working on this and about three other things for various family members. My to do list is getting longer and longer and things aren't helped by the fact I forgot to bring a beach bag so I have had to turf out my crafty stuff and my knitting bag is doing double duty.

I've made a hat. I think it would fit a baby, maybe up to 9 months.

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 28-Jul-14 14:52:30

Afternoon smile brew

Have been away since Friday, but now I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack.

I will post in a week or so, but I have a tee cosy with matching mug cosy, some woodland baby pixie booties, book marks and if I get time some hedgyhogs.

PurpleFrog Wed 30-Jul-14 13:59:14

I returned from holiday at the weekend, so am ready to get down to business now. I already have some Wols and Hedgyhogs "without portfolio" that would be perfect for this project. I will look them out this week. The Hedgyhogs will soon put paid to those pesky slugs that are popping up everywhere! grin

Morning World of Wool smile brew

Tarlia Thu 31-Jul-14 20:28:37

I think I might just have my eye on a slug now too... Gorgeous yarny goodies, ladies!

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 01-Aug-14 09:45:16

Thinking it might be wise to ask for a Pause in Posting, as I'll shortly be away, and can’t guarantee there will be anyone able to take woolly treasures in. If folk try to avoid posting from tomorrow until Mon 25th Aug. Obviously given our deadlines, if you need to post in that time, please do, if it can’t fit through the door, I’ll go along and collect it from the PO as soon as poss.

Huge thanks to everyone thanks

PastaBow Fri 01-Aug-14 18:28:41

I shall make a note to post on 26th!

SaltaKatten Fri 01-Aug-14 18:36:57

Would a woven scarf in woodsy colours be ok?

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 01-Aug-14 20:03:48

Sounds lovely SaltaKatten, thank you, thanks too to you Pasta thanks

Galena Fri 01-Aug-14 20:31:30

Oh poo. I will be home on Sunday and then away from the 16th to the 27th August. When does the woolly goodness need to get to you?

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 01-Aug-14 21:23:19

Last posting for the Woodland Craft Sale is Wednesday 27th August.

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy Fri 01-Aug-14 21:26:21

Marking place so I know when the sale starts, have a family baby arriving in
September so good timing.

Galena Fri 01-Aug-14 21:33:04

I may have to post on the 15th or so and hope Hedgey doesn't get lost in the Post Office.

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 01-Aug-14 21:37:52

I have got quite a big letterbox <arf>

blush grin

Flatten him as much as is decent and he'll fit through, he'll be fiiine and THANK YOU xx

Galena if you are concerned then you can post to me and I'll post yours with mine after the 25th. PM me for my address if you need it.

Galena Sat 02-Aug-14 06:45:22

Thanks for the offer. I shall try squashing and posting and put a note on the outside to try squashing through letterbox if nobody is in... I'm sure he'll bounce back! grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 02-Aug-14 07:14:08

Awwwwww. I'll re inflate him, no worries!

KnottyLocks Sat 02-Aug-14 08:54:27

Morning !

I have WiFi...temporarily.

Galena, you could post him to me after the 12th if you'd prefer.

We'll have a few days where her and me will both be elsewhere, so apologies in advance

IonaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 02-Aug-14 21:12:41

Evening folks! We've been asked to move this thread to the Woollyhugs board so it doesn't disappear in Chat. Keep up the woolly work. We're in love with the woolly slugs! You're a very talented and kind bunch.

Galena Sat 02-Aug-14 22:51:27

Knotty, if I post to you, do you then need to post it on to Pistey? If so I'll stick with the squashing plan - no point paying twice to post! It'll all work out fine, I'm sure!

KnottyLocks Sun 03-Aug-14 11:18:47

No, I don't. Can keep the little fella here until a new home is found smile

KnottyLocks Sun 03-Aug-14 11:20:06

Thanks, Iona. X

Galena Sun 03-Aug-14 17:50:27

Okey doke, well, I shall see if I get my current little hug for Yorkhill done by next weekend (3 more squares and then making up, should manage it). If I do, I'll send it all to Pistey, if I don't, I shall ask for your address. grin

Another one making a note to post eight little birdies (now packed into a takeaway box - my cats' idea of heaven ) on the 26th. I will PM for the address.

Galena Sat 09-Aug-14 22:41:01

Look who slid in to join the party...

Cool rainbow snail. I now have a band of small mice ready to fill another takeaway box (except I need to make a couple more as I told the DC that they could keep one each), if someone could PM me the right posting address ready for posting day?

Mice are packed up. Still need an address...

KnottyAndPistey Thu 14-Aug-14 09:12:56

Just back from hols - will be catching up today between the endless washing.

KnottyLocks Thu 14-Aug-14 11:43:09

Welcome back, Knotty smile

PastaBow Fri 15-Aug-14 08:02:39

Hope you had a nice holiday. Have a bookmark, little bag and hanging bird all ready to post when Pistey is back from her hols.

KnottyLocks Fri 15-Aug-14 19:19:04
