RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 12:17:16

<clatter clatter>

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 12:18:17

And a seriously banging coffee machine [thumbs up]

YeGodsDidTheDrWhoThemeTune Tue 26-Nov-13 12:19:16

Great name!

Mine's a skein of bamboo/silk tops, cheers!

tweetytwat Tue 26-Nov-13 12:20:03

Do you think if someone snogs Tech in the right way, we could get this as a topic that allows pics?

I just pm'd for the current Hug.

YeGodsDidTheDrWhoThemeTune Tue 26-Nov-13 12:20:34

Oh go on then, I'll have an americano. Just one shop and lots of room for milk (2 extra jugs of cold, please).

YeGodsDidTheDrWhoThemeTune Tue 26-Nov-13 12:21:50

Tech might allow pics if we promise not to snog him (or at least promise not to show anyone those pics.)

Ooh - are we going to be knitting/crocheting under the affluence of incahol? Goody! grin

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 12:28:49

We may need to do a Risk Assessment grin

I have assessed it. There will be Risk. End of Risk Assessment. grin

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 12:32:20

Considerably more fun!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Tue 26-Nov-13 12:39:15

oooh too early for gin? grin or possibly a large pot of tea and naice biscuits <tries to be sensible>

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 12:39:46

Never too early for gin Ninja!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 12:40:09

<still clattering>

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 12:45:48

I sure we could manage a few leetle pastries.

Opheliabumps Tue 26-Nov-13 12:47:24

Ooh no, never knit and drink, esp if you're doing a complex pattern. i've lost count of the number of carefully crafted items I've had to unravel as I've gone wrong somewhere after a glass or two of wine.

Strangely, I find the same thing happens when I combine complex knitting with Only Connect grin

Plain knitting only when drinking or thinking is my motto grin

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 12:51:18

Oh yes, the Granny is my fallback tipsy pattern smile

Opheliabumps Tue 26-Nov-13 12:51:24

Are we too early for mince pies/mini stollen bites? I happen to have a box or two if the stollen things stashed away, i highly recommend them.

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 12:51:52

I'm not snogging Tech for anything it must be said grin wine

I'll snog Tech. <<takes one for the team>>

GoingGoingToGallifrey Tue 26-Nov-13 12:59:01

<spies cosy armchairs in corner by roaring fire>

Oh yes, that will do lovely. I think this weather calls for a mulled cider, but I may end up with a wavy pattern in my next set of squares.

rubycon Tue 26-Nov-13 13:00:07

I'll have a big one <not fussy>

Opheliabumps Tue 26-Nov-13 13:16:56

Mulled cider? Mmm that sounds nice, what spices do you use? Saw a recipe for hot sloe gin the other day, I'll be giving that a try over Xmas <hic>

Woolfey Tue 26-Nov-13 13:26:54

ooh I'll have a hot winter pimms please, and a hot crumbly mince pie to go with it smile

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Tue 26-Nov-13 13:28:59

hot sloe gin you say, hmm may have to investigate!

hot chocolate with a dash of rum please! (can only drink on here as breast feeding).

(I imagine the bar to be covered in woolly items, all mugs and glasses have a little woolly cozy on them, woolly cushion covers on all the chairs)

GoingGoingToGallifrey Tue 26-Nov-13 13:52:16

Ophelia, I think it's nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves & allspice (always have to look it up) Hot sloe gin sounds great.

fanjo don't think we'll be short of a coaster here!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 14:33:44

SDTG You are a trooper! Tech is in our bad books for the creaking PM system. We blame him personally

Just baking a fresh batch of mince pies here for everyone, and really fancy a sloe gin or mulled wine. Hot sloe gin does sound luffly!

<throws another log on the fire>

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 15:35:03

Hot sloe gin??? Oooooooo

Jacksmania Tue 26-Nov-13 18:25:50

This is lovely! Have you got anything with maple syrup in it, or on it? No? Not to worry, I brought some.

<plunks small vat of Canadian maple syrup on bar>

Helloooo! Can I have a bottle of Bud please?

Got a wool delivery today, some chunky is sage for a long cardigan and a ball of sock wool. I am currently working on a pair of socks for my husband. I think it is going to be very slow progress, there are 6 cables on it! And then once I am doing the main leg bit there will be 12

Huh... is PM not working? I just tried to PM NinjaGoose to ask if she'd share the pattern for the bobbley blanket and every time I touch "send", nothing happens.
It is NinjaGoose, right? Am I missing part of her posting name? blush

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 12:03:21

Dear Ninja,
Pistey suggested I PM you and ask if you followed a pattern for the bobble blanket you made for Woolly Hugs. It's just lovely, and DS saw it when I was looking at it and asked if I could make him one like it [eeek].
If you have a pattern, could I ask you to PM it to me or post it on the FB page or the Woolly Pack thread? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to have it thanks.
Thank you in advance thanks
Jacks

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 12:14:49

Oh for FUCK's sake!!!!!! I meant to c&p this into a new PM.
Too much tequila last night.
blush

Do you have Bloody Marys in the UK or is that a North American thing? If it is, I'll explain - if not, ignore me grin
So a Bloody Mary is tomato juice and vodka, variously spicy. In Canada we also have Bloody Caesars, which is vodka and Clamato (a tomato and clam juice mix). Typing clam juice actually makes me <boak>, I don't know how exactly one juices a clam and I don't want to know.
Clamato isn't as thick as tomato juice and it comes in mild and spicy. Most Canadians I know prefer Bloody Caesars.
Anyway, long story short - DH went to Arizona with his friends for his birthday, and they had this thing on the drinks menu called a Bloody Jesus (it should have the little accent over the E but I can't find it on my phone). So DH asked and it's tomato juice and tequila, which we've turned into Clamato and tequila and we've named it a Dirty Caesar. And we had a few last night.
No headache, thank goodness, just a little fuzzy-headed and slow.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Sun 01-Dec-13 13:13:54

Jacksmania pattern is here for the bobble spiral, do watch your tension on the ch4 between bobbles, they need to be quite loose (I found for my tension) or you end up with a fried egg effect blanket like mine and for the border I did a round of treble clusters in the gaps and then worked a round of half trebles and a round of slip stitch with a picot but obviously you can finish it however you like smile

we do have bloody marys in the UK, I think I'll give the clam juice a miss if that's ok though grin

KnottyLocks Sun 01-Dec-13 13:39:20

Poor little clams sad

SuperNappy Sun 01-Dec-13 13:47:53

Basically every bookmark on my phone's browser is a crochet pattern and you lot keep linking more!! Now I just need to convince both my children to sleep at the same time so I have opportunity to crochet. <Yawn>

SoupDragon Sun 01-Dec-13 14:11:48

Clam juice is the strained liquid of shucked clams. Nothing more.

So, basically clam stock. Mmmm. [barf]

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 15:26:35

Oh, lovely Ninja, THANK YOU!! DS will be very happy thanks.
He was never much into blankets or stuffies when he was tiny because I was his stuffie and his blankie, he was attached to my boob for just about ever but now he loves blankets and cuddly stuffies and has been asking me to make him a blanket since I started working on Woolly Hugs. But the bobble blanket really appealed to him!

Just one question, how do you do a picot? When you described how to do the trim?

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 15:27:55

Oh EEEEWWW!!! Clam stock <barf>.

How does something that tastes so good sound so vile???

Tequila <boak> And tommy juice <double boak> is a Bloody Maria here. Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce optional <loses dinner completely>

In better news IT IS CHRISTMAS, tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 19:10:04

Well, it's the month in which Christmas happens, not to split hairs or anything grin

So what's your favourite drink then?

I don't much care for tequila normally. And tomato juice by itself is boak-worthy. But Clamato is a completely different story, it really is. Come visit me some time and I'll prove it you grin

Nope! Nothing on this earth would get me drinking tomato juice! I used to boak just serving it in the bar I worked in!

My favourite is jack Daniels, usually with coke, however recently discovered it's good with apple juice! Toying with warming the juice and chucking a cinnamon stick in seeing as it is the "festive season" tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin tchgrin

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Sun 01-Dec-13 19:21:23

Jacksmania the picot on this blanket (as can also be worked with uk dc) was, sl st in each of next 3 st, in the 4th st: sl st, ch3, sl st and repeat all the way round smile Both my boys had blankies or mussies and always looked so sweet hmm dragging them around, the girls were never interested.

it can't be christmas yet, I'm not ready <wails> where did that gin go because I'm not touching clam snot tchgrin

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 19:26:32

Thank you so much, lovely Ninja! I'll look at it properly once I'm sober again tomorrow tropical holiday, it's not my fault, DH keeps feeding me drinks grin

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 19:28:34

Glaikit, far be it from me to force anyone to drink anything they hate! Apple juice and Jack Daniels is known as an Apple Jack here. I drank a few of those in my younger days suspects she is a few years older than the lovely GF

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 19:29:21

but I'm really immature so hopefully we could still hang out grin

YOu do realise mulling wine drastically reduces the alcohol content, don't you?

Am waiting in for UPS to come and collect the Little Hugs for Yorkhill, screamed around this morning to be back for 12, but have this feeling they will come just before 5pm. I have promised myself that I will be purposeful.

So far, that ain't happening!

fgrin

SuperNappy Tue 17-Dec-13 13:04:13

I have finished all my Christmas projects apart from an infnity scarf that I'm plodding away with. Woolly square for superman will be picked up again shortly and posted within deadline. I don't fancy braving the post office again until after Christmas now. I have a sparkly little hug on the go too, but it's slow going and will take a while to finish.

I think I'm pretty much going to take a break from projects at the moment and concentrate on learning to knit and maybe Tunisian crochet too, while I have DH home splitting the childcare.

KnottyLocks Tue 17-Dec-13 16:47:10

<flops on sofa>

Just the family Christmas woolly stuff to do now!

Good grief. fconfused

Mhw02 Tue 17-Dec-13 18:20:32

Have finished 7 squares of a blanket for a friend's baby, who is due this week(!) I'm working on the presumption that I won't see the baby till after Christmas, and that come this weekend I'll have loads of time to finish the blanket (I have two assignments to hand in before then, so can't do any more this week - am typing whilst composing a speech about islands in my head and worrying that I don't know anything about reflecting on the role of Mary in the Roman Catholic tradition!)

Am a bit unsure about the blanket - it's going to be gorgeous if the baby's a girl, but if it's a boy I'm worried it won't be quite right!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 17-Dec-13 21:39:40

Hope all goes well Mhw smile

Hosting inlaw Christmas here tomorrow , so should also be tidying and stuff but have lost my oomph.

Thankfully I love Christmas so I'm not Christmassed out yet fsmile.
Could I have a snowy icing sugared mince pie with my mulled wine too please?

All done, save direct family wrapping, which all needs doing, and which will be me in the middle of the night as always. Every year, I think I will be more organised the following year, and it never happens.

I suspect it never will fgrin

Oooo and the cake needs icing, but DS does that , he loves to stick every single decoration we have on, and then it ends up looking like a rave. Love it.

And, we are out today, going up Big London, DH has planned a treat (awww) but is now fretting at the lack of trains. Think they start again at 10. There is a definite time frame to his plan, so it must be a theatre/cinema??

Need to shift my arse, that's for sure.

Maybe one more brew

Hellooooooo all Woollyy people - and apologies for my continued absence from t'pub.

Good luck with your trip to That Lunnon, Pistey - sounds intriguing! But please don't get jealous when I tell you about our family outing for Christmas Eve. The EvilWolef family will be going to the dentist, for our annual check-ups. There - I knew you'd envy me!

I am well into my list of things to be done - the stock is bubbling gently away, the milk for the bread sauce is infusing, and the gammon is boiling in its cider and spices. That just leaves eleventy-thousand more things to do. Le sigh.

I hope all the woolly people are safe and warm and no-one has been blown away by the storms.

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Hello all! Not been in for ages!!

Not done any wrapping of presents at all, but only have about 4 to do anyway so won't take long! Tomorrow's dinner is sorted, got our pizza's and garlic bread yesterday. Need to do a bit of hoovering up and that is it really!

Will get some beers in the fridge to have tonight I think!

Oh and I plan tomorrow to get some new granny squares done to finally make a start on one for MN Woolly Hugs!

Mhw02 Tue 24-Dec-13 10:28:24

Today I need to collect my gran's Christmas present from the florist, buy almonds and icing sugar and eggs, marzipan and ice the cake, wrap mum's Christmas presents (as in the ones she's giving to people, not the ones I've bought for her - I did my present wrapping last night), post the last lot of Christmas cards, lay the table for tomorrow, and then I'm singing the psalm at midnight mass. And there was me planning a nice relaxing Christmas Eve!

We're completely disorganised this year. We've not even got the tree up. My mum's been in hospital for the past three weeks, she's only just home, so things have been rather chaotic and we've just not got round to it. I'm afraid I'm feeling a bit Bah Humbug this year!

HoggyTruffle Tue 24-Dec-13 16:04:59

Merry Christmas to one and all. It's very peaceful here after a wild and windy night and the DC are playing together nicely (it will never last). I have even remembered to defrost the turkey. fgrin

I'm planning to open a nice bottle of fizz later so cheers!

I'm hoping to have time to sew together the flower for Superman's blanket later if my fingers are working after some lovely bubbly before we go to MIL's for dinner. How lucky am I, she's doing the entire meal, all I had to bring was dessert! I made Key Lime pie cheesecake. Mmmmmm...

I just need to tell everyone this. Lovely, lovely DH and Dd bought me a fabtabulous book for Christmas. A whole book of Christmas decorations to knit and crochet. Opheliabumps Fri 10-Jan-14 21:37:59

pistey, knotty I have a question for you.

As part of my new year declutter, I've found 2 pram blankets my mum knitted for my twins. One is 21" square, one is 21x25", they're both cream, and in lovely condition, as I suspect I lost them in the back of the wardrobe before they'd been used much.

Can you use them as little hugs? As they're cream I doubt they're suitable for angel hugs, but if you can make use of them at all I'll send them over. Don't worry if not, they can go into the charity shop instead, they won't be wasted.

Right, duty done, back to my Friday evening ritual of too much wine and slobbing on the sofa grin

KnottyLocks Fri 10-Jan-14 22:22:59

Hello, my lovely.

I can only ever manage a couple of squares because a/ I'm a crap crafter and b/ I have an inconvenient job that requires me to work far too hard so I never have very much time. I've always wanted to spend the day sitting and knitting and here I am!

Can anyone share a link to a good croshet pattern for a lily in/on a 6" square? I have a waterlily and lily of the valley and I meant the other kind (not cala lily). Ideally with a yellow stamen centre, then dark pink, light pink, cream edge to each of 6 petals. I am itching to get started on one and I can almost design it in my head but the size of the petals makes it a bit daunting.

I made one or two a while ago when I was still learning to do basic granny squares. I keep meaning to do more!

Do you have a pattern in mind, or colour scheme?

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 27-Feb-14 16:19:26

Hello lovely Trin, hello evvvveryone X

Trin, we'd LOVE you to make a blanket! Your crochet is gorgeous and all you'd need to make a Little Hug for a baby in Yorkhill is to make 9 of those fabulous squares, and then I'd happily hook them together for you and edge, or we can talk you through that part. And let me send you some woolly wool. In purples, maybe? smile

I find knitting very slllllowwwwwwwwwwwwww and when I go wrong I have to restart the whole thing. But I love crochet, tis quite addictive!

TrinityRhino Thu 27-Feb-14 16:40:18

I would love to make purple blankets.

would that be an ok colour?

are they for babies? or young children?

I know I should know whats going on but I'm sorry I'm completely crap

blush

I would like to try and do the whole thing but maybe i'm not up to it, I don't know.

TrinityRhino Thu 27-Feb-14 16:44:21

oo also I've lost the ability to remember where to find the address I need to send my squares to for the current blanket blush

I'm sorry

Is Knotty ok, not seen her around

I did three squares and then a wee flower with the left over but not sure if thats ok for the blanket

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 27-Feb-14 17:04:56

smile That Knotty is a very busy bee Trin, but yy she's around, we have so many threads going for different projects, that it is easy to miss folk, we launched a new project on Tuesday and she was helping folk there last night.

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 27-Feb-14 17:09:44

I will PM you the address. smile

The Little Hugs go to very poorly babies and sick children in Yorkhill, and a blanket that has 9 squares will go to a little baby. The feedback we have had has been amazing. Parents feel so comforted, as do the children, really is sending them a hug.

Tis an ongoing project -see the thread here and whenever you make, we will be so grateful to receive.

If making 9 squares feels like too many, why not make 4 and I can get together the other 5?

Shall I send you a couple of colours? See how you go?

TrinityRhino Thu 27-Feb-14 17:44:06

oo yes please.

I can do nine but I'm not sure I'll be able to put it together well enough smile

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 27-Feb-14 18:19:58

Then I will put it together for you, we can be...

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 07-Mar-14 15:33:32

One for me please wine

Mhw02 Fri 07-Mar-14 17:13:17

Are any Glasgow woolly people going to hobbycraft at the SECC tomorrow?

yegodsandlittlefishes Fri 07-Mar-14 19:22:25

One for me too please. smile

yegodsandlittlefishes Fri 07-Mar-14 19:27:22

Mhw, maybe you should wear simething Mumsnetty?

Mhw02 Fri 07-Mar-14 20:18:22

I don't own a mumsnet scarf...

ZingSweetMango Fri 07-Mar-14 20:29:52

Evening all!

I can't knit but I know you love me so I'm here!grin

yegodsandlittlefishes Fri 07-Mar-14 21:24:19

Zing! Hows you? smile

yegodsandlittlefishes Fri 07-Mar-14 21:26:18

Mhw, there's time to crochet one in chunky yarn! grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 09-Mar-14 07:40:33

We do love you Zing and you are a proper Blanketeer with a heart of GOLD, so you are very welcome.

Morning brew

yegodsandlittlefishes Sun 09-Mar-14 09:25:52

brew

I have bread in the oven. (Yes, real bread, not a euphemism.) I don't think it worked very well. It could be because I missed out the salt. I've just read that the salt reacts with the yeast and it is needed for the whole dough to bread process to work. <sigh>

I think I'll stick to yarn. Can't go wrong with a ball of dk merino in a soft shade. Such a shame we can't eat it for breakfast!

ZingSweetMango Sun 09-Mar-14 09:38:13

thanks Pistey! [chuffed]

I do x-stich and crochet, but my main thing is patchwork.
I'm making a blanket for DD right now out of 1" hexagons and also in the middle of preparing an I spy quilt for kids out of 5.5" hexagons. and have about half a million other projects started or planned in my head!

loving the breakfast photo - I think it is called Amigurumi.

yego

doing ok, thanks. booked a 4D scan for mid April - very excited about it!
(for those who don't know me: I'm pg with #7, baby's due mid-July)

watchingout Sun 09-Mar-14 17:28:50

Oo I'd love to do patchwork. I did some when I was a girl but that was <ahem > a good few years ago. What's an I spy quilt?

ZingSweetMango Sun 09-Mar-14 21:11:23

you know the game "I spy with my little eye.."

so an I spy quilt is when you choose lots of fabrics with novelty/children's patterns (I have literally hundreds of different ones!) so you can play the game looking at the quilt.

the one I'm making will have a patch of each pattern - things like strawberries, bees, flip-flops, puppies, letters, numbers, peas, umbrellas, crocodiles, cupcakes, lions and so on.

I hope to finish it by Christmas!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 11-Mar-14 08:33:53

Morning brew

Waiting for my new washing machine, due here between 8 and 1. What chance it will arrive at 12.55?

yegodsandlittlefishes Tue 11-Mar-14 09:15:44

If you're running a book, my money's on 12.52 just when you think youve got time to nip to the loo.

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 11-Mar-14 09:32:33

That will be the time!

9.32 and not here yet sad

ZingSweetMango Tue 11-Mar-14 13:19:11

has it arrived yet?

I'm thinking 18.17 is very likely! grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 11-Mar-14 16:02:56

Bloody thing arrived at about 2.45pm, so well within the 8am to 1pm slot hmm

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 11-Mar-14 16:03:37

However, it is now plumbed in and doing a pre use wash.

Then I will need to tackle Laundry Mountain

<ties on crampons>

ZingSweetMango Wed 12-Mar-14 01:15:07

maybe they meant 8am to 1am? wink

glad it's there though.

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 13-Mar-14 14:33:51

Me too. 'Twas getting ridiculous!!

Beautiful day here today after a very foggy start. I was inspired to buy this for my garden. Tis ZINGY!!

ZingSweetMango Thu 13-Mar-14 14:57:08

Can't see photos on phone - will look later on PC

same weather here, so beautiful now - if you live very near your Woolly Hugs address then we are almost neighbours!

I'm working on my mini hexie quilt.

yegodsandlittlefishes Thu 13-Mar-14 15:04:41

Oh, lovely colour! What plant is that, Pistey?

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 15-Mar-14 09:53:58

Tis a senetti The colours are electric, proper wow stuff. Love it!

yegodsandlittlefishes Sat 15-Mar-14 11:55:38

I like it too - in the garden! I like very muted decor inside, and it's great to see that kind of zingy splash of colour in the garden. We have mainly shrubbery so I am on the look out for flowering plants.

ZingSweetMango Sat 15-Mar-14 23:56:33

nice photo and great colour!

I bought some buckets of "grow your own" strawberries and sunflowers today from Tesco.

I have never done any gardening, but at the prospect of moving to a house with a bigger garden I finally caught the greenfingers bug!
We don't know when we are moving yet, but obviously I don't want to make any effort in our current garden, but I'm getting quite frustrated that I can't do anything.

I just have this urge to plant something - so buckets of stuff is perfect as we can take those with us.

TrinityRhino Sun 23-Mar-14 12:09:17

I'm bursting with excitement
I've decided on my first personal project

I'm going to crochet a Granny stripe blanket for my mum.
She is in a home now.
I've almost completely lost her to Alzheimers now.
When I was a kid she knitted a blanket each for me and my sister.
She has always loved a blanket, always felt the cold.
It just feels right that my first personal project be for her.

ZingSweetCoconut Sun 23-Mar-14 17:57:45

Trin

that's lovely, and such a nice idea to "give back" as well

what colours have you chosen?

yegodsandlittlefishes Sun 23-Mar-14 18:31:31

Trinity, how lovely! :D Please post photos.

TrinityRhino Mon 24-Mar-14 17:20:18

MY WOOLLY HUG HAS ARRIVED!!

I cried at the delivery driver as I knew what it was as soon as I felt the package

he looked slightly awkward to say the least
smile

We are going to open it all together later on when we are all settled smile

The package is sitting in the middle of one of our couches ooozing love :D

ZingSweetCoconut Mon 24-Mar-14 17:36:19

how exciting Trin!
I wasn't part of the making of yours, sorry, but I know about your loss(es) and I'd like to send you a belated hug anyway.

TrinityRhino Mon 24-Mar-14 17:51:52

Please don't apologise for not making part of mine

Thank you for my hug :D

yegodsandlittlefishes Mon 24-Mar-14 18:09:17

Unmumsnetty (((((((TrinityRhino)))))))

How exciting! This is the first time I've read about a woolly hug arriving (I wasn't sure, but I had envisaged it being accompanied by Justine, Pistey and Woolly on horseback with much fanfare and gin.)

Have a wonderful evening Trin. grin

yegodsandlittlefishes Mon 24-Mar-14 18:10:01

And flowers too.
And some wine while we're here.

ZingSweetCoconut Mon 24-Mar-14 18:14:21

Great image yego!

and Trin wearing an ermine cape?grin

TrinityRhino Mon 24-Mar-14 18:26:08

Thanks everyone

there was a little fanfare in my head :D

but no justine, just an awkward delivery guy trying to get a signature from a teary rhino smile

no wine thanks, nearly 22 months sober now grin

yegodsandlittlefishes Mon 24-Mar-14 18:50:09

wine It's hot Ribena (sorry, that's probably as crass as telling a vegetarian cook 'it's a quorn burger, don't worry!' blush)

Thanks for letting us in on the arrival. I'm going to out myself a bit now as I'm compiling a woolly hug for someone on another (very small but international) forum and will be posting the finished creation to someone in forn parts and so I am more than a little nervous excited and interested in how it is done the Mumsnetty way.

yegodsandlittlefishes Mon 24-Mar-14 18:53:24

And apologies to knottylocks I don't know why I keep thinking shw has woolly in her screen name. blush

TrinityRhino Mon 24-Mar-14 18:59:41

yegodsandlittlefishes Mon 24-Mar-14 20:48:35

NO ONE IS A TWAT!!

We heart you Trin [hearts] [hearts]

Yegods - we do try to deliver by hand wherever possible, Knotty and I have met many of our lovely and inspiring recipient families, we have visited folk at home, met in London, and lovely lemon truffles came to me just before Christmas. We would have absolutely loved to meet Trin but she is too far at this time, so it must be couriered. We love the couriers as we can track the Hug every point of the journey!

Just waiting for the UPS driver right now, Trin the van will look like this, and if your driver is anything like mine, they will be wearing SHORTS

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 25-Mar-14 11:44:44

And UPS have just collected it, tis on the way Trin xx

TrinityRhino Thu 27-Mar-14 11:43:46

I can safely say that my wonderful, gorgeous, love filled Woolly Hug has arrived!

My friend signed for it as I was upstairs and I'm afraid the UPS guy didn't have shorts on. grin

I'm excited as anything, It will be amazing smile

ZingSweetCoconut Thu 27-Mar-14 12:33:32

Wonderful crib figures, woolly, that must have taken an age. I love the colours. Thank you for posting the photo, I'm sure it will help raise more for MIND to do that, especially with specialist/larger items like this.

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 30-Mar-14 08:36:40

On Mothers’ Day, we send our love to all families within our Woolly Hugs’ community, but particularly those for whom this will be a day touched with sadness.

Sending strength, love and huge hugs. Our thoughts are with you.

Mintyy Mon 31-Mar-14 22:54:28

Loving the pictures of Trinity's blanket and also those perfectly lovely amazing crib figures! Am in awe of talented crafty types on Mn [in awe emoticon].

Mhw02 Mon 21-Apr-14 21:48:51

Has anyone tried the Cascade wool that Wool Warehouse and Deramores have just started stocking? Wool Warehouse are selling it at such a good price for pure wool and it comes in SO many colours, but I want to know it isn't horrid and scratchy before trying it!

On a completely unrelated and non-woolly related note, but please excuse me, I'm excited, I've just booked my train tickets for my summer holiday to London at the beginning of July. I haven't been to London in over a year, I was starting to feel deprived.

FrancesNiadova Sat 24-May-14 08:53:21

On the piste, I'm admiring your mother's day daffodil. Would you mind telling me how you did it? Are the crocheted petals sewn on or do you crochet them on top, catching them into the round below? Thanks.

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 03-Jun-14 10:28:36

Oooo Frances, I'll admit it wasn't actually my work, but I will find out for you xx

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 03-Jun-14 10:28:41

We ask for so much, we know, but please just have a look, sharing our FB post from last night.... xx

Great excitement and equal amounts of nervousness here!
Can you help us sustain and develop our projects?

As part of Mumsnet Giving Week, Woolly Hugs been chosen to be one of 5 charitable causes being promoted by MNHQ. They will match fund the money raised.

First though, we need to raise over 1,000 in a week!

Every little could help us achieve this.

We know that times are particularly hard at the moment so if you could help by spreading the word, we would be grateful for that too.

Thank you xxxx
