RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 11:07:01

I am afraid we bring very sad news. We heard recently that our SupermansBigRedBottleOfSpirits’ third child, beautiful baby Summer has died at nearly twelve weeks of age. Bless them all, such a devastating loss, we are so very sorry. Superman?s thread is here.

She and her family are in our hearts and thoughts, and we send them love. We are so pleased that they have accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love for them all in every stitch. We hope it may give whatever comfort it can.

So lovely donors, knitters and crocheters, we will need help to make this happen, and will be so grateful if you can join with us. thanks

All crafting abilities genuinely welcome, squares made by beginner or expert are equally welcomed. It really is the love and thought that counts.

thanks

Superman and her family have been thinking about their blanket and have come up with some lovely ideas for baby Summer. Bless them all.

Ideas for squares or separate embellishments :

Summery flowers - inc chrysanthemums
Butterflies.
Ladybirds
Lions

If you are able to offer initials, please PM.

Just from the brands listed below please because we know they combine for wash and wear.

* Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK (new this time)
* Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
* Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK

* Artesano Superwash Merino DK
* Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (is being discontinued but some still around)

* Warm purples
* Brighter greens
* Creams - if using please use Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 ‘cream’ or Debbie Bliss Rialto 02 ‘ecru’

For accents/embellishments on squares, not whole squares pls :

* Yellow for flower centres only
* Turquoise.

Do use the crafting guide on the website to help you with lots of practical info such as help with buying colours, recommended online retailers and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for patterns.

Previous blankets can be seen on the Woolly Hugs website and we are on Facebook and Twitter at MNWoollyHugs which are good ways to keep in touch.

This means so much to the family, thank you so much for joining with us

thanks

Ideally we ask for you to PM us - but if there is a problem with the PM system ( it does happen and seems to be a bit wonky at the mo) you can message us :

On our FB page, MNWoollyHugs

Or email us at admin@woollyhugs.com

SoupDragon Tue 26-Nov-13 11:41:31

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 11:44:40

Oh bum.

PMs ARE mucking around. Apologies of there is a delay getting back to you.

Reporting this post <waves to MNHQ>

I'm in. I rather fell out of the loop on Wolly Hugs recently(RL getting in the way) though have been following you all on FB and MN and admiring as always.

I still have a dedicated WH stash, think some might be Rowan Cashsoft(?) though, is that no longer on the list? Happy to use it elsewhere if necessary but thought I'd check.

Thinking of Superman and family, her thread was so moving. xxx

Thumbwitch Tue 26-Nov-13 11:47:41

Oh I'm brokenhearted for the poor family - of course I'll donate wool again. Just so sad. sad

PMing you, Pistey. xx

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 11:50:58

Huge thanks everyone, PMs are playing up this morning, but do keep sending and keep writing on here, we will make sure that we help everyone.

Tis just going to take a little while.

Thank you to everyone, such a fabulous response thanks

Kveta Tue 26-Nov-13 11:52:11

would love to help - will PM

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 11:52:13

Barbara, please use the Rowan Cash you have. We've taken it off our list now as it's discontinued.

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 11:55:11

I think PMs are back on track, will be helping folk now hopefully!

Would love to help out with this, I do have some of the wool here need to check colours, but donor wool would be appreciated. I will PM you Pistey.

tribpot Tue 26-Nov-13 11:58:14

Oh good, I was the same as Barbara, had to dust my WH stash off from the box under the bed. There's Cashsoft in them thar' hills!

Is grey/blue okay to use as a background colour? I'm thinking about doing this so the background colour would not be very prominent.

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 12:06:45

We're not using blues and silvers this time, Trib. Sorry. Have you got an alternative? If not, I can have a look at my stash here.

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 12:07:30

The pattern is perfect btw smile

SuperNappy Tue 26-Nov-13 12:24:57

Signing in. Very sad. Thinking of superman.

Can I do some plain squares? I'm good at crochet but I'd like to do at least one with my novice knitting skills too.

I have none of the yarns listed so donor yarn would really be appreciated. I shall pm.

I'm in, will pm you. Thoughts are with the family xx

KnottyLocks Tue 26-Nov-13 12:27:51

SuperNappy, the old WH mantra is 'Simple squares are good; Simple Squares are essential' smile

Thanks.

My PM box is empty so just off to check this thread and our Facebook, don't want to lose anyone sad

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas Tue 26-Nov-13 14:21:00

Just checking actually, what is the deadline?

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 14:29:16

We usually allow approx 4 weeks for crafters, but tend to give deadlines once we know folk are receiving wool, and there are no problems from suppliers. This will obviously take us into Christmas, can you just let me speak to Knots and we can think about this?

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 26-Nov-13 14:45:30

Lovely cq It isn't letting me PM you, I will try again in a bit, but please don't think we don't appreciate your kindness, thank you so much. As soon as I can I shall PM X

Had to dig out my needles this morning (in order to try and teach some friends to knit for our own blanket that we're doing for a friend - no laughing at the back) and found loads of WH yarn bits and bobs in various colours, so hopefully I can combine them successfully (correct colours only of course) for this. Such a sad story.

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 27-Nov-13 17:33:24

Such a very sad story. Count me in for a couple of squares. I will attempt to PM.

I received my wool this morning, a lovely purple colour. I shall get hooking at the weekend. X

elfycat Thu 28-Nov-13 17:05:16

I'd like to do a square or two. First time Woolly Hugging but I had had a sniffling moment over Superman's thread and now there's a Hug to be made.

I'll PM but I can get my own wool. Just registered with Deramores which might not be a good thing.

Pistey! Lovely wool for flowers arrived today. Thank you flowers

tribpot Thu 28-Nov-13 18:59:12

elfycat, probably best just to have your salary paid directly into your Deramores account from now on grin

BellaVita Thu 28-Nov-13 19:00:53

My wool order arrived today. Thank you for suggesting the colour Pistey, it is just such a lovely lovely colour. I have started already, although going very carefully has had a woolly disaaaster on my other square for the woolly hug blanket project and had to take it to work for the HOY 8 to sort out at lunchtime for me!

I have only ever donated funds before which I know is a huge help, but am feeling much much more involved doing the actual knitting. I feel quite nervous really as I am desperate for it to be perfect.

AthelstaneTheUnreadyFucker Thu 28-Nov-13 19:01:43

I'm in, if that's still possible? Only I don't have any of the wools mentioned so will PM Pistey in case there's still some going begging. I woolly-blanketed under another name previously (at least, I think it was another name...) so you may recognise the address!

BellaVita Thu 28-Nov-13 19:03:09

I so know what you mean elfy, I got a small order originally to start with then ordered about 6 more balls and now had my third delivery. Our living room is growing wool grin. I even bought a crochet hook at the weekend.

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 28-Nov-13 19:10:10

Evening wine

Thank you everyone, just marvellous! Thanks to those joining us this afternoon, we are very glad to have you on board X thanks

SDTG - will pop woolly wool in the post to you tomorrow.

So glad you love the colour Bella tis gorgeous isn't it? So perfect here, tis certainly vibrant and bold - this is the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK Amethyst. Sadly now discontinued of course. And a hook you say? <beams> You know Bella, this isn't about being perfect, it is about love and thought, tis the important bit, bless you, big hugs. X

AthelstaneTheUnreadyFucker So, who are ya I wonder?!!!! I am guessing, wonder if I'm right grin

I am off to PMs - the light is on smile

Oh yes I know it is about the love and thought Pistey, I am just hard on myself <makes New Years resolution to be less so>.

You and Knotty are doing a fantastic job of coordinating everything flowers

gussiegrips Thu 28-Nov-13 19:50:49

Did you get initials sorted out?

I'm just going out, but will pm later. I've got a computer programme for designing knit charts too.

Am more than happy to do anything helpful - been meaning to ask if you wanted a "woolly hugs" chart for a square.

Sorry for you loss, Superman. Will help make your blanket as comforting as it possibly can be.

Thanks for posting Superman, big hugs. Xxxx

Just signing in to let you know that my beautiful bundle of wool has arrived this morning. Thank you for such a beautiful selection Pistey x

TwoJackRussellsandababy Thu 28-Nov-13 20:41:25

I've got my wool too, got my crochet hook out and ready smile

KnottyLocks Thu 28-Nov-13 21:36:00

Wonderful to see woolly wool already arriving and hooks and needles going to work.

Craft on, my lovelies smile thanks

Thanks, Pistey - I will get knitting as soon as it arrives!

HairyPotter Thu 28-Nov-13 22:13:20

Such very sad news sad

I'll have a root through my stash and get started on a couple of squares soon. I'm not sure if I have anything bright enough. Will look and report back to see what you think.

I lopped a bit of a finger off yesterday so my squares will be wonkier than usual I'm afraid blush

Thanks Pistey, wool arrived this morning. I will get knitting early next week as I have DD school craft fair on Saturday and I am drowning in felt and sequins.

Jacksmania Fri 29-Nov-13 00:29:34

HairyPotter, OUCH!!!! sad
How did you manage that??

HairyPotter Fri 29-Nov-13 07:44:40

It's only a bit of a finger. I was chopping a mountain of veg for the guinea pigs and the lovely new, very sharp knife took a chunk of my index finger with it.

If it doesn't fall off, I should be fine for a wonky square or two. I think

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 29-Nov-13 07:53:01

Morning all smile brew brew brew

Honestly, enormous thanks to all, just marvellous, such a touching response, thank you to everyone X

gussiegrips Yes, we are sorted for initials thank you, we had such a brilliant response, folk are so clever, but thank you for the offer thanks

So pleased to hear that wool is already arriving with crafters and work is getting started, that is excellent, thanks

Hairy!!!! What are you like??!! Big ow! You poor thing, hope it's not too sore for too long X

Am away to PMs, huge thanks thanksthanksthanksthanksthanks

KnottyLocks Fri 29-Nov-13 08:23:53

<hooks teeny bandage for Hairy the muppet >

I'd like to knit. It'll be basic, but I'd like to anyway. I know just what these blankets mean when they arrive.

Is basic any good?

Knotty is anyone doing a lion yet? If you pop over to Trib's support thread there's a link to a fab one. I can't promise I can pull it off but I could have a bash. Would need some advice on colours though. I don't mind putting in another Deramores order if necessary <noble>

Barbara - don't you just hate it when you don't have the yarn you need for a project, and have to buy more? Ohh the pain of purchasing yet more yarn! grin

SoupDragon Fri 29-Nov-13 09:35:03

I'm giving a crochet lion a go - there is no pattern other than in my head smile As usual I plan on winging it!

SoupDragon Fri 29-Nov-13 09:35:39

I may need to buy some red yarn for a ladybird.

And then I'll need to add more to make up the free postage amount...

LizaRose Fri 29-Nov-13 09:36:09

Just found this thread and would like to help. Please put me down for a couple of squares.

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 29-Nov-13 10:12:51

Lovely daisy Bless your heart, huge hugs for you and thank you so much for joining with us. Your knitting sounds perfect, we love and treasure simple and complex alike. So thank you. thanks

Thanks lovely Liza - hopefully have just replied to
You. I'm on a train so a bit hit and miss on the reception front!

Thank you everyone!

Dermores do cashback on quidco also. So if you get that and free postage you are practically making money grin.

Soupy if you are on the case with a lion, I may honourably withdraw. Yours will be perfect I know!

Soupy I know I have a crochet lion square on Pinterest somewhere, I can look it out for you?
No sign of wool here yet, early days for me though grin

My yarn is here! Looking for a lovely stitch in my stitch library.

watchingout Fri 29-Nov-13 13:32:33

Thanks for the tip BarbaraWoodlouse - it inspired me to check.... and TopCashBack do cashback for Deramores too. wink

Good news that wool is arriving, more is soon to be on the way, just abut to go to the post office. If it comes in a blue plastic with a card from me, it has been paid for by our lovely donors, huge thanks as always to them.

thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks

We have had two anonymous donations made towards Superman's blanket, and have sent our thanks via email, but just wanted to say thank you here too. Donated funds help so much and make all the difference. We really are grateful.THANK YOU! thanks

Mhw02 Fri 29-Nov-13 17:37:36

I can do a couple of squares, I haven't contributed to any of the Woolly Hugs before, but should like to. Could also do some extra applique if that could be used?

I don't have any Woolly Hugs wool left in appropriate colours (used it all up on my last Little Hug) so will need to see what they have in John Lewis tomorrow.

Will PM Pistey now.

StellaMarie Fri 29-Nov-13 17:58:32

Wool has arrived, thanks, and one square done already whilst avoiding chores!

Deramores is quick at delivering!

In love with my wool, and should start crafting after I make a star costume for DD1 tomorrow.

Jacksmania Sun 01-Dec-13 15:29:08

Deramores does ship insanely fast. I placed an order and had it, in Canada!!! in seven days. I heart them.

Help needed please, I have started my square which is the The Lace Heart & Bobble Square from the refuge patter found here on page 3
www.gobookee.org/get_book.php?u=aHR0cDovL3RoZWtuaXR0ZXIudGhlbWFraW5nc3BvdC5jb20vc2l0ZXMvdGhla25pdHRlci50aGVtYWtpbmdzcG90LmNvbS9maWxlcy9hdHRhY2htZW50c

Have got to row 39 and I am at a complete loss as to what I have doing, can someone translate please along with row 41 ?

Stitches I am stuck on are Inc and No Stitch. I have done an increase for Inc but not sure that is right as I have two many stitches !

Got it now grin

Oh good stuff HaveToWearHeels. Saw this earlier but was busy with usual Sunday craziness. Was about to post to say your link didn't work but I thought had the pattern somewhere. Good to hear you have it sorted. It's a lovely square IIRC smile

Thanks Barbara had a bit of quiet time, DD and DH have a bug so we were lounging around with "Enchanted" on DVD so grabbed my needles. The square has come up lovely.

HorsesDogsNails Sun 01-Dec-13 21:35:09

Hello! I hadn't realised I had popped in here yet.

Pistey, I have checked my stash and I have a cerise James Brett and some odds in Db in pinks. Can I use a tiny <really small> amount of pale pink?

AthelstaneTheUnreadyFucker Mon 02-Dec-13 22:45:07

Evening, all <channels inner pleeceman>

Pistey, can you PM me the address to send the squares to? I've two full ones out of that ball, and am very annoyingly just one round short of a third. Shall I send that third one to you anyway if you have bits and pieces left it could be finished with? Or if there's more wool I could help out with, perhaps send scraps to me with that and I'll finish it here? Whichever's easiest... I'll take them into work with me tomorrow so if you get a chance to read this I can put them in the post before it closes.

Fizzy (long time no see!) I used pale pink in the very centre of one of my flowers. 'twas only waffer thin though so hoping it will be OK smile

TwoJackRussellsandababy Tue 03-Dec-13 06:47:09

Reporting in,

I have done two squares, will finish up the second and weave in ends tonight.

There is still a bit of my dark red left over which would do for another square if it is striped with another colour.

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 03-Dec-13 07:09:42

Morning brew

Arf at waffer thin pale pink, it be lovely Babs thanks

Fizzy Do I need to send you some other woolly wool? Have some in stash here.

So...

Only just realised that you can buy Debbie Bliss at John Lewis blush I have been struggling to find any at any LYS so requested some donor wool (which have I crafted up and sent off) but now I have an excuse to pop into town and have a peaceful browse. Inspired by the webchat today so feel a need to take a nosey into the books too! I will get some replacement wool for the Superman stash, promise!

Woolfey Wed 04-Dec-13 17:31:13

Kveta Thu 05-Dec-13 11:52:38

0ooooh!!

I have just found a ball of Sublime extra fine merino wool DK, in shade 0229 (blueberry pie?), in the depths of my stash - it's a slightly darker purple than the clematis Jenny Watson I was sent. Could I use it for a square then?! It has been sitting there looking pretty for months, and I wasn't sure what to do with it!

roguepixie Thu 05-Dec-13 11:54:32

What devastating news. I am so very sorry for their terrible loss.

I'll do some squares.

Mhw02 Fri 06-Dec-13 18:05:49

Have finished two squares, will post them tomorrow. I have used Rialto in claret for a flower in the centre of one of them - is this okay? I bought it thinking it was a deep, bright, pink, but I'm worried it's a bit too red.

Dutchoma Fri 06-Dec-13 19:22:04

There's only one. If it isn't there tomorrow I will do you another one.

TwoJackRussellsandababy Tue 10-Dec-13 11:12:33

Yay, the plum/claret colours were mine, hope they come in useful

Two squares on their way now, Pistey - one burgundy, with a cream flower, and one cream with a pale blue flower.

I'm going to make some more, with the donor wool you sent me, and I will have them set aside for the sad point when more are needed.

BellaVita Tue 10-Dec-13 21:29:30

I am on my third square.

Two are in the gorgeous purple colour that Pistey recommended and my third is the Debbie Bliss ecru. Whilst out in town on Sunday, I found a little independent wool shop, they only had the above, but it was better than coming away with nothing. I am aiming to post them out early next week.

thanks

I've got lovely apple green wool that I've made a very woolly basket weave square out of and it's used just a smidge over half the ball.
Would you prefer I squeezed in another of the same square or used it to make some woolly leaves to go with other crafters' flower embellishments?

Oh, I think you'll know what I mean. [woolly headed] thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 13-Dec-13 18:54:35

Funnily enough I do! smile Leaves please, they would be smashing, thank you thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 15-Dec-13 08:34:26

needasilverlining Sun 15-Dec-13 10:00:35

I've nearly finished a simple (well, simple to a good knitter; I've always struggled with it) moss stitch square. Strands of the yarn have broken in a couple of places so there are some ends to tuck in, will it matter?

Am thinking a crochet square of some kind for the next one. Total novice at crochet so again will be pretty simple, hope that's OK and they're good enough!

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 16-Dec-13 09:53:46

It will be absolutely fine, huge thanks to you thanks Have just replied to your PM.

Simple squares made with love are very precious indeed!

thanks

needasilverlining Mon 16-Dec-13 16:30:16

Just a thought, and v probably one that's already been had, but has anyone asked a yarn shop like Deramore's or maybe Wool Warehouse (Drops stockists) if they might support the Woolly Hugs? Maybe discounts, or a few free balls of yarn or similar if details added to the WH website or similar? I know the point is that MNers help MNers, but making the donations go a bit further might be worthwhile?

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 16-Dec-13 17:14:44

It is a very good thought silver, but it is one that has been had before.

Both of those two said no, so did John Lewis and Cucumberpatch. Debbie Bliss was fab, and actually after last week has promised us some more, whether it is the stuff we use for woolly hug big blankets is to be seen, but it will certainly come in somewhere.

Fingers and Thumbs, sadly don't think they are in business anymore sold us some at a reduced price and Yarn Box and Black Sheep Wools were very kind too.

So bless Debbie Bliss, she has been a real friend to Woolly Hugs, and love the fact she follows us on Facebook and Twitter. Just makes us <sqquuuueeee> when she 'likes' a photo!

fsmile

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 16-Dec-13 17:18:57

Mumsnetters helping Mumsnetters is at the heart of what we do but now we do more away from the site, with the ongoing projects we run as well it has been easier to ask for donations.

Jacksmania Mon 16-Dec-13 20:04:10

Right, the square is done, and the parts of the flower are done. Now to sew it all together. Hopefully I'll be able to post it off this week.

Dutchoma Mon 16-Dec-13 21:19:53

Did you manage to get the squares from the post office?

MNPlovesChristmas Tue 17-Dec-13 00:27:42

Ordered loads of jW on Dec 03, 2nd class, proposed delivery date........18 Dec confused so glad to read it is Jan 06 posting date....phew.

ZingChoirsOfAngels Tue 17-Dec-13 00:41:59

I remember when Summer was born, what a tragic loss.sad

can someone tell me how I could donate money towards this project please?
I'm a quilter, but can't knit so I thought I'd like to help out by funding some of the wool that goes into the blanket.
Please let me know what to do - PM is fine.

And may I offer my total admiration for the amazing work and dedication and skill that goes into making these Woolly Hug blankets and the love which makes them extra warm and comforting!
thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 17-Dec-13 12:25:27

atomicYuleLoghurt Wed 18-Dec-13 10:17:41

Just checked that mine had arrived, pleased it got there.

If you need any more doing (and have any wool going spare) I'll be happy to fit some in during the chrimbo hols.

Thinking of Superman over the holidays xx

I am really pants, I posted my squares yesterday 2nd class, but didn't include my name. So when two dark pink squares and a flower will turn up they are mine !

I have two crocheted flower squares ready to go but in order to avoid the crazy Christmas post (and being very honest the crazy Christmas post office queuesblush) I think I'll post end of December.

In the meantime my favourite knitted square pattern has reappeared online so I'll try to get one of those done before I post too.

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 18-Dec-13 17:54:00

Oh Babs I think that sounds very wise thanks And love that pattern!

HaveTo - not pants at all, just very busy!

Thank you atomic.

You are all stars.

thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks

Knotty or Pistey are either of you around for some quick advice please smile.

The only woolly wool I have left to suit this blanket is Cashsoft Vamp (#532). Lovely colour which I know we've used before but is it bright enough for this blanket?

The other option is that I think I have enough of this which is the base to my other two squares to do square #3?

TIA as I'm sure you're both very busy with the small matter of Christmas just round the corner shock fsmile.

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 18-Dec-13 21:22:17

Vamp is one of our most favourite colours and is perfect for this project Babs, thank you X

Christmas? Round the corner you say?

needasilverlining Sun 22-Dec-13 10:34:02

I'm really glad - and surprised! - they arrived so quickly

I was going to put in a card for Superman but couldn't think of any words worth committing to paper in the face of such a loss.

Superman, if you're reading this, know that thoughts of you and Summer went into every row I muddled through. And I've just deleted another three sentences because it all sounds so banal but I'm still thinking of you a lot and will be for a very long time to come.

WhoremoaneeGrainger Tue 24-Dec-13 00:03:58

Can someone PM me the address to post squares to please?

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 24-Dec-13 08:26:00

Morning lovely Whore - certainly can.

Thinking of beautiful baby Summer. X

Merry Christmas All.

Thinking of Superman and others who are missing a loved one at Christmas. Xxx

Hope everyone is enjoying boxing day! I have a little question, probably a bit silly - I have done two plain squares and flower embellishments to go on them. Am I ok to fasten them with a small button or would you rather I stitch it on?

KnottyLocks Thu 26-Dec-13 23:35:05

Not a silly question at all smile

We tend to avoid buttons on our blankets for a variety of reasons, so stitched on flowers if possible please.

Thank you, I seemed to remember something about no buttons but couldn't be sure! Will stitch them on. Thank you!

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 28-Dec-13 12:04:17

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 10-Jan-14 07:44:11

Morning brew smile

Bless you Hop not a problem at all.

I do think that sometimes it is in the eye of the beholder. We had a lovely crafter who had their envelope weighed and measured at their local post office to get the right stamps, by the time it got here it was deemed too big and I had to pay excess! Must have grown en route hmm

It certainly will be beautiful WhereAreMyShoes really bold, bright and vibrant, just perfect for baby Summer and her family.

Mac tis lovely, perfect for this project, edging is all fine, not a problem at all.

thanks

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit Fri 10-Jan-14 09:05:53

I put it in the post and someone then said that if it's a large letter then it needs a large stamp rather than two small stamps. I figured as long as the postage ia correct it shouldn't matter if I use one stamp or 50 one penny stamps. Then I remembered that royal mail are generally a bit awkward at best.

SuperNappy Fri 10-Jan-14 13:19:04

Thinking of baby Summer.

MNPinto2014 Fri 10-Jan-14 15:31:14

Tis meant to be 4 hearts but flower is good smile

elfycat Sat 11-Jan-14 06:53:59

I posted mine and forgot to send a note (I'll blame either being a first time Hugger or that I used the minuscule moment between DD1 and DD2's chickenpox outbreaks to run to the post office and do all my other chores)

There should be 6 squares of crochet, 2x each of pink, green and cream in a padded envelope.

Trumpton Sat 11-Jan-14 07:25:39

Finally posting today . Sorry for the delay. Thinking of Superman and baby Summer .

ChippingInWadesIn Sat 18-Jan-14 14:32:53

Pistey - I have just sent you a PM.

Pesky ends just sewn in, let me know if you still want them or if they're too late - sorry sad

They would have come to you last week (which was still late I know!), but I had a little 'helper' - she's 8 and was 'just looking at it' (and asking why I was knitting it), some of the stitches 'fell off' the needle and she tried to pick them up... ending in a run down the whole thing (that was about a row off being finished). Once reassured I wasn't going to be cross - she said 'I just wanted to put cuddles in it for the baby' - Bless.

ZingSweetApple Sat 18-Jan-14 15:33:57

Chipping

that is so sweet. I hope the cuddle enforced square is not too late.

There most certainly will be Zing. We have lots of photos of previous blankets here if you'd like to see those in the meantime.

Are you on our Facebook page? We link from there and Twitter once a blanket is finished, also from here. Lots of lovely things to see too. MNWoollyHugs and @MNWoollyHugs.

We are delighted to be able to let you know that the Woolly Hug for Superman and her family is now with them. There is the most beautiful message from her below.

My mum and my lovely older daughter - she's 9 now - opened it in the slowest manner imaginable just drinking it in. Tears flowed as we felt the rush of love and kindness flow from every single segment, my mum left us alone and we spread it out - it's huge! - and discussed the pictures and patterns, the colours and styles, how it embodies Summer perfectly the whole entire beautiful amazing blanket I could kiss each and every one of you who donated, crocheted, knitted etc this amazing piece of artwork for us. Dp isn't ready to look yet, he's broken too badly inside right now with Sums birthday round the corner and ds god love the terror I'm not ready to let his gorgeous wee hands near it as he's always covered in playdough/paint/lollypop stickiness - to be 2 again ?? - I adore it and I know dp will, it is a pure statement of love I'll never forget and does my Sum proud. You are all amazing thank you xx

Bless her, sending so much love and thinking of beautiful baby Summer xx

The website photo album is here...

Summer thanks

Huge thanks to all who donated and crafted, you are stars
