We are really pleased to be announcing our Woolly Hugs' Christmas fundraiser for 2013. We hope that you will be able to help us in some way. thanks

Winston’s Wish are an amazing charity who help bereaved children re-adjust to life after the death of a parent or sibling, offering practical support and guidance. Winston’s Wish have helped many families within our Woolly Hugs and Mumsnet communities, and we would very much like to do something now to help them.  To read more about the work they do, see here

Here's how you can join in...

We are looking to make and sell small/lightweight Christmas craft items, and to keep postage costs to a minimum we ask that ideally anything made can be sent on to a buyer in nothing bigger than a Large envelope. (35cm by 25cm, no thicker than 2.5cm, 750g max )

Some suggestions for you, but we are very open to others too
* Christmas tree and other decorations
* Little bags and purses
* Christmas stockings
* Bunting
* Gift tags
* Gift bags
* Craft kits
* Brooches, hair accessories, key rings
* Stocking fillers

Sewn, crocheted, embroidered, knitted, tis up to you!
Last posting for crafts to be Saturday 30th November please.
Please PM for the posting information.

If you would like to contribute funds to help others craft we would love to hear from you.

Woolly Hugs' Christmas Craft Sale - The sale itself will take place between Friday 6th and Sunday 8th December, and will be run through our Woolly Hugs Facebook page. All details of which we will be sharing here, on FB and Twitter nearer the time.

How to Win the Woolly Hug
* Anyone who makes something for the Craft sale will be entered into the free Draw.
* Anyone who contributes towards materials for crafters will be entered in the free Draw.
* Anyone who buys something (through Paypal) will be entered into the free Draw.

It's a wonderful charity. So pleased we are doing something to support them.

MrsDeVere Fri 18-Oct-13 16:49:35

rubycon Fri 18-Oct-13 16:50:43

oh - go on then - stick me name down!!

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 16:53:42

Season's greetings and thank you lovely Ruby! wine

I'm going to crochet Christmas bunting. I have already made two bunts

SoupDragon Fri 18-Oct-13 16:55:05

No Anteaters...?

I am here, signing up smile

I'm a sucker for a chance to add to my stash - count me in! grin

rubycon Fri 18-Oct-13 17:00:25

almost done square 98 - 2 more to do and I shall get onto it!

I quite like knitting .............!

I have a load of knitted triangles I never got round to joining into bunting. What lengths of bunting would be best?

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 17:01:58

If you make an anteater Christmas tree decoration Soupy - I WOULD HAVE TO BUY IT!!!!

With a little Santa hat awww.........

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 17:04:00

Thank you everyone, ooo Ria, the bunting I am going for will be about 8 bunts ish, sorta the length of my fire place. I shall measure.

Knotty is better at this technical stuff, for sure. She be here in a mo <hopeful>

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:07:09

And I am here!

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 17:07:58

Tis like magic <beams>

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:08:15

A metre will do a fireplace or bedhead. So I would say that's the shortest length.

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:09:03

Obviously longer would be lovely too!

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 17:09:05

When you attach the bunts is it sturdy enough just to use stylecraft?

giraffesCantGoGuising Fri 18-Oct-13 17:11:40

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:13:01

Should be unless your bunt is a biggun grin

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:14:16

To make the chain more sturdy you could double the yarn or use a weightier yarn or even dc along the chain after you've attached the bunts.

roguepixie Fri 18-Oct-13 17:15:06

Me too. I'll do some knitted stuff. Great cause.

SuperMuddle Fri 18-Oct-13 17:16:24

Ooh, may I join please? I'm doing a homemade Christmas this year, so an extra gift or two to make wont be much hardship.

More of a sewer and beader than a knitter, so tree decorations/jewellery/soft toys it is! <unreasonably excited at going through stash for inspiration>

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:17:52

Thank you both smile

Woolfey Fri 18-Oct-13 17:18:40

ooh I was waiting to see what you were going to be doing for Christmas fundraising. I'll do some crafted items, will think on and let you know what.

HoggyTruffle Fri 18-Oct-13 17:19:22

Put me down for some craft creation (even though I hate Christmas being mentioned before bonfire night). grin

I did see a very fetching trio of crocheted hat, jumper and stocking to put on an Xmas tree in my local department store - £15!! Hand crafted is in this year and it ain't cheap.

There goes dss knitted advent calendar again! I have some knitted stockings.

Will I include them with my next batch for posting?

Should say, small tree dec size! Not the type you need suspenders with!

HairyPotter Fri 18-Oct-13 17:20:37

Ooh I'd like to knit something. What's small and easy?

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 17:23:21

Oh huge thanks everyone, this is just brilliant!

Yes please Fizzy, but what about DS's Advent Calendar??

Small and easy - I'm going to have a look for some patterns

Hairy, get thee to ravelry, search for Christmas decs.

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:26:05

There are some ideas on our FB page under 'Crafting for Yorkhill Christmas'

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:26:57

Pinterest! Search handmade Christmas decs was there for hours

Woolfey Fri 18-Oct-13 17:29:48

I'll do a Christmas star garland and a snowflake garland, both crochet and both with lots of christmassy glitter grin.

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 17:31:00

Oh how lovely Woolfey!

<gets out purse>

Thank you X

Our Ravelry group is here hopefully

Next year Pistey!! He still doesn't know what's going on, so I'm sure he won't notice!

I'll have a google and an inventory of my stash and see what I else I can knock up before the deadline.

What I did last year for my cards was knit long lengths of icord. Could jazz that up with something at either end, voila card bunting?

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 17:38:41

Our problem will be not buying it all ourselves.

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 17:47:52

<frantically saving pennies>

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 17:48:15

Fizzy, that sounds such a good idea! Thank you X

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 18:05:59

Ria how big are your triangles?

I'm not sure the ideal size of bunt. Am crocheting and have done 5 rounds. Don't want them to be too hefty.

Woolfey Fri 18-Oct-13 18:20:36

I've started a thread on Ravelry in the Woolly Hugs group here

13cm wide, 14cm long. They aren't Christmassy, does that matter?

Well this is something I have to be involed with, even though I have a week DS craddled in my arms. I might be able to make some xmas dec's, would a pair or gloves be ok pistey ?

That meant to say a week old DS!

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 18:23:45

Ria, it doesn't as people may want to buy gifts too.

Awww Fan. How is the little chap? <happy sigh>

A pair of gloves or handwarmers would be smashing, thank you. smile

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 18:40:47

Thank you Woolfey, you star X

My bunts are nearly 10cm, and only Christmassy as they are made in red, white and green stylecraft. I think non Christmassy things would be lovely as gifts.

Awww, and welcome to Fan's DS, the latest member of Team Woolly Hugs. We'd love gloves, or those lovely hand-warmers you made last year, or actually anything. THANK YOU!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree Fri 18-Oct-13 18:55:31

These are very pretty and easy tree decorations - there's a heart, start, tree and round.

I'll make you some smile.

Congratulations Fan smile

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 19:16:48

Thank you, OhOne smile

Yes please, Beer!

JollyScaryGiant Fri 18-Oct-13 19:41:49

You lot are so clever. I'm on it smile <eyes stash>

I can't find my stocking pattern <wails>
Ds wouldn't be getting his advent calendar after all!

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 19:54:41

Ah bum, Fizzy.

BIWI Fri 18-Oct-13 19:58:52

<Opens wallet>

<Bats away moths>

<Eyes Pistey and Knotty suspiciously>

I have a couple of farthings you might like?

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 20:06:44

What's a farthing ???

I can contribute funds because I can't sew, knit, crochet or do anything useful sad

I blame my mother.

Should I donate on the website page?

Thanks guys! DS is doing great, he's laying in my arms at the month with hiccups! Bless him.

My mum is on the case as well and says she has some things up her sleeves for this appeal, so keep your eyes open.

I shall see what I can do between feeds, I'm lucky though DS seems so far to be pretty laid back.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Fri 18-Oct-13 20:14:23

marking my place, so much to do at the moment but will see what I have going spare smile

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Fri 18-Oct-13 20:16:13

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 20:18:30

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 20:20:35

Ingles2 Fri 18-Oct-13 20:21:03

Hiya... I can help definitely...
I've got some lovely Xmas cards with crochet snowflake decs attached I can donate..
And owning a craft shop I can donate some yarn as well..
I've got some lovely Adriafil crochet cotton or just let me know what you want xx

BIWI Fri 18-Oct-13 20:23:39

Knotty. Don't pretend you aren't old enough to know what a farthing is. Otherwise I may have to kill you.

Kindly, of course. In the spirit of Christmas. Obviously.

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Thanks Knotty.smile

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee Fri 18-Oct-13 20:32:39

HoggyTruffle Fri 18-Oct-13 20:35:44

I broke one of the MN golden rules and clicked on a link. You bad person Ohone, I now appear to have started a crochet star.wink

MrsBramleyApple Fri 18-Oct-13 20:36:12

I cant do anything crafty but want to say I am SO pleased that you are raising money for WW! My ds2 has lost his Dad and Grandad in the last twelve years and WW have helped us so much. I gave money to them in lieu of presents for my 40th bday four years ago!

tell you what, i will donate a piece of jewellery, and a little dragon and will cover the postage myself, i can send direct to whoever gets them smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree Fri 18-Oct-13 20:42:38

grin Hoggy

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee Fri 18-Oct-13 20:43:05

Pistey & Knotty - I also meant to say 'Great choice of charity' smile It's one we all recommend frequently on here (sadly) so it's nice to feel we can give a bit back to them from MN (as well as whatever we do personally). Thank you for organising it!! flowers

PurplePidjin Fri 18-Oct-13 20:48:37

I shall make a hat, PidjChick was Rudolph last year with sticky up antlers and a big red nose, would that do?

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 20:54:28

OOOO Ingles, you tempress! We'd love some so yes please! thanks

Pete, btw I meant to say you are doing something VERY useful. We can make some lovely things because you are buying us materials. All for a very good cause thanks

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 20:55:52

Beer, if Paypal is a problem, we'll find a way to grab your cash, no worries grin

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 20:57:08

MrsBramleyApple, big gentle hugs for you and yours. They are a wonderful charity, we agree. x

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 20:58:16

Cherry, sounds brilliant, thanks. Nearer the time, could you send us pics so we can add them to the sale site?

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 20:59:14

Pidj, I've seen that hat grin That would be perfect! Thank you, my lovely thanks

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 21:00:40

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 21:01:30

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 21:34:35

Dammit, Beer. grin

Good call Knotty, an owl with a Santa hat maybe?! I can manage that...!

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 21:45:05

Yes you can smile

Ingles2 Fri 18-Oct-13 21:50:57

No problem..pm me and I'll send some over. X

I've just bought a massive lot of red and white yarn on eBay if someone needs some?

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 22:48:35

Ooo what yarn we talking about here, Pig?

Not sure yet knotty, I'd say acrylic, looks to be dk but it's not arrived yet. Monday probably. It's about 6balls of each for €2 and dp will most likely have a heart attack with more stash so it's no problem to donate a good bit. Perfect for Christmassy bits

KnottyLocks Fri 18-Oct-13 23:11:26

Let us know smile

You got empty suitcases btw? I hide shed loads of yarn from DH in mine wink

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 23:12:24

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 23:13:13

Which works well until you need your suitcases grin

TimrousBeastie Fri 18-Oct-13 23:21:07

Just waiting for my wool delivery on Monday and I would love to contribute to this. Can any wool be used for this? Have so many odd bits here that need used.

RatherBeOnThePiste Fri 18-Oct-13 23:31:57

I think this is the perfect opportunity to use up bits and pieces. Last year I made bunting and used wool I found in a charity shop.

Thank you so much thanks

I hide my secret clothing purchases in my suitcases. Not sure what dh despairs of most.

I'm in! Will rifle though my patterns later

Would a Santa meerkat be acceptable?

KnottyLocks Sat 19-Oct-13 09:46:22

Meerkat wrestling! Now there's a thought...

MrsFTHC Sat 19-Oct-13 13:14:56

Does anyone have any ideas for a very beginner crocheter? I've only just started but would love to make some things

roguepixie Sat 19-Oct-13 13:23:46

How about a wash cloth or a pot stand? Both very useful.

roguepixie Sat 19-Oct-13 13:24:19

Or you could crochet some simple leaf shapes (holly?) and stitch them to a garland?

KnottyLocks Sat 19-Oct-13 14:05:59

Coasters, if you can crochet a circle smile

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 19-Oct-13 15:19:48

Afternoon lovely Christmas craft folk brew

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 19-Oct-13 15:22:46

My daughter bought me a crocheted flower garland. Tis in my kitchen and is rather lovely. It's very simple just the sort of small crocheted flowers we put on squares, with some leaves all just chained together. Very colourful. If I can work out a leaf I could do that next.

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 19-Oct-13 15:29:17

Mine is all diff brights but you could do a version with a Christmas rose and holly leaves.

Be luffly smile

roguepixie Sat 19-Oct-13 15:29:56

Afternoon Rather. That garland sounds lovely smile.

pistey that does sound lovely.

Just simple circles and squares in christmas colours to hang from the tree might be good for beginners.

Just been to a party. 30 2&3 year olds, a bouncy castle, sweets and cake <wibble>

Is it too early for wine

Calming down with a spot of knitting!

KnottyLocks Sat 19-Oct-13 16:38:04

never too early! wine

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 19-Oct-13 17:40:35

Good! wine

Is the start of a solid granny triangle the same as normal granny triangle?

I'm thinking on....

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 19-Oct-13 18:00:40

I did it and it will be a triangle. Centre looks odd but that might be because am doing stripes so it stands out.

Will see it how goes

Lovely idea smile

I would LOVE to donate some items, unfortunately my "craft" is photography, so not sure I can help in that respect. Unless people would like some funky glowstick images as postcards/coasters or something? I also have nice images of the sea, and of things in Prague haha.

JollyScaryGiant Sat 19-Oct-13 18:18:53

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to buy buttons? smile I have a cardigan and hat set I made for DD but they were too small by the time she came home from hospital... So I never got round to sewing on buttons smile

I get mine from www.beadandbuttoncompany.co.uk or usually find something on eBay.

Glow stick images sound fab lollipop! I would be interested in those <applies for remortgage>

MrsFTHC Sat 19-Oct-13 18:26:12

Ooh good ideas thanks

JollyScaryGiant Sat 19-Oct-13 19:31:41

50 buttons for less than 2 quid?! Oh no. Another stash is so not what I need. (At least buttons don't take up much space!)

JollyScaryGiant Sat 19-Oct-13 19:32:01

Thanks Fizz smile

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Woolfey Sat 19-Oct-13 20:57:50

They have some REALLY cute ones...oooh lovely grin

Mhw02 Sun 20-Oct-13 10:21:29

I should love to contribute, but realistically I really don't think I have time (desperately trying to finish some Little Hugs by mid-November so I can start on blanket for friend's baby due in December!)

I do have a little knitted Duke and Duchess of Cambridge I made when very bored on a Sunday in Stornoway a wee while ago though. They are rather inexpert as it was the first time I'd made toys, but would they be any use?

Kveta Sun 20-Oct-13 13:56:13

I'm going to contribute some crochet butterfly things, just posting here to remind myself!

KnottyLocks Sun 20-Oct-13 15:13:42

Mhw02, we can give them a go if you are happy to part with them!

Thank you, Kveta smile

<desperately tries to ignore the button link>

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 20-Oct-13 17:01:53

Evening wine

So many lovely things - am so excited by our Christmas craft sale! Thank you to everyone!

While my DC were tucked up with homework, I finished my crocheted bunting, will take a pic tomorrow, it fits my fireplace and is about 1.5m long, 10 bunts I think, just granny stylee triangles, in red, green and white stylecraft, have made loops at either end if someone wants to hook it on something.

Off to look at buttons smile

PastaBeeandCheese Sun 20-Oct-13 17:16:18

I move house in less than 3 weeks so I'm mega busy and can't really craft this time.

Have donated instead and I'm certain I'll buy.

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 20-Oct-13 17:59:18

Oh HUGE thanks your contribution towards materials has arrived, we really appreciate this, and.....

.... we have entered your name into the free Draw for the Woolly Hug!

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 21-Oct-13 07:40:28

Morning brewsmile

SoupDragon Mon 21-Oct-13 07:48:15

I'll make something. Obviously.

I have a felted bag here that is currently homeless if that's any use?

SoupDragon Mon 21-Oct-13 07:49:22

Bucket shaped, dusky pink, somewhat fuzzy, may actually be a little too big and heavy for a "large" postage stamp...

Herhonesty Mon 21-Oct-13 07:51:16

Can't craft for toffee so will send some funds, great work crafters, very important charity!

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 21-Oct-13 08:56:41

Soupy We [heart] you smile How about little hanging anteaters with Santa hats?

Oh but the bag sounds lovely, how much does it weigh?

Herhonesty - You star, funds are fab, this is a real team effort going on, for an amazing charity, thank you so much for being part of it. thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 21-Oct-13 08:59:06

I have green, lipstick and white stylecraft if anyone needs some.

My bunting has barely used any. Might try to make one more string, but there will still be loads left

OhIDoLikeToBeBeside Mon 21-Oct-13 09:24:55

I am so dense - just donated and remembered message that it was for Winston's Wish but forgot to put my MN name!

Anyway, I am hoping that, if Santa brings me yarn and hook, I will be able to join you next year.

SoupDragon Mon 21-Oct-13 09:47:03

340g apparently. With no packaging smile

SoupDragon Mon 21-Oct-13 09:47:45

It is under your 750g limit.

SoupDragon Mon 21-Oct-13 09:48:41

But I imagine it would be thicker than 2.5cm.

Note to self: think about all you want to say before hitting send.

Wily depend on how thick to was, a small packet would be £3 if it didn't fit in a large envelope.

grin would depend on how thick it was

Need more brew

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 21-Oct-13 13:58:08

Fabulous, thanks both, I'm just about to do the Attic24 way of blocking and then bunting is ready. Will post a pic.

Ok eBay yarn has arrived and it is a LOT! If anyone needs some red or white for projects for ww, pm me, I'll pop some in the post to you.
Actually can't believe how much it is for €3...

I have made a note of this, and will try to find something to send for the craft sale. If I can't find anything, I will definitely buy something.

Ooooh - I have just remembered - I have a scarf I knitted, but don't wear - I will send that!! To the usual Woolly Hugs Address?

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 21-Oct-13 20:50:45

Ooo thanks lovely Pig, that is very kind, and thanks lovely SDTG, marvellous and yes please

Woolfey Tue 22-Oct-13 07:26:43

oh good idea SDTG I have a scarf I crocheted but don't wear either. I'll pop that in my parcel too.

I'm on the too many ideas, not enough time phase.

SuperNappy Wed 23-Oct-13 19:39:40

I've got two flowers and a baby cardigan so far. They need sewn up/ peskies dealt with. Part way through a third flower too. I think I'm going to buy brooch backings and make brooches.

I was hoping to have a little hug too but I think it's not going to be possible any time soon to get one finished.

I really, really hope someone gives me money for Christmas so I can buy more yarn. Can't justify it at the moment and my stash is slowly shrinking.

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 23-Oct-13 20:24:15

I'm on the too many ideas not enough ability phase <sigh>

SuperNappy, don't forget we have funds for Woolly Hugs projects X

SoupDragon Wed 23-Oct-13 20:29:42

I have too many ideas, too much yarn and not enough skill hands smile

SuperNappy Wed 23-Oct-13 20:33:09

Oh and a pot holder!

Thanks Pistey, I will bear that in mind.

KnottyLocks Wed 23-Oct-13 20:35:46

Too much yarn? shock No such thing.

(she says as she realises she has to hide the hooooooge stash hidden in the suitcases somewhere else there's no where else as suitcases are needed )

roguepixie Thu 24-Oct-13 08:08:24

Ditto soup .. so many ideas, so much yarn and not enough time smile

Please note I said "so much yarn", as Knotty said -there's no such thing as too much yarn grin.

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 24-Oct-13 08:29:13

Morning all brew

Huge thanks to another lovely, who has sent a contribution towards crafting materials. No MN name but initials LK thanks

We shall enter her into our free Draw!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Thu 24-Oct-13 10:36:51

too much yarn shock surely not grin

and stylecraft is 20% off at deramores atm with code STYLEWK, not that I'm thinking of buying more yarn, no not me . . .

SuperNappy Thu 24-Oct-13 10:43:25

NinjaGoose, there is a discussion here about Stylecraft : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/woolly_hugs/1782871-Woolly-Hugs-The-Babettes-Billies-Blankets-and-Little-Hugs?msgid=42467164#42467164

Even with the 20% off elsewhere may be cheaper.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Thu 24-Oct-13 10:53:22

it works out much the same price wise super depending on whether you get free delivery but you usually get faster delivery with deramores smile

SoupDragon Thu 24-Oct-13 10:57:17

Woolwarehouse delivery is fantastic.

Apparently. Obviously I have never used them, oh no no no.

Hello, signing up! Am a relatively new crocheter but will try and make something pretty smile

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Thu 24-Oct-13 11:18:33

grin soupy, I haven't used them that much

SoupDragon Thu 24-Oct-13 11:38:48

I'm told they sometimes stick in a free gift.

HoggyTruffle Thu 24-Oct-13 14:11:12

My favourite darning needle was a free gift from Woolwarehouse. In fact, I have just used it on something I'm making for the Xmas sale.

I have finished a string of stars and have started on something I am making up. It may go horribly wrong.

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 24-Oct-13 20:27:29

I can do beading/jewellery/patchwork if that would be any use?

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 27-Oct-13 08:24:34

Morning brew smile

Hello there Mirage and thank you so much, that all sounds just lovely. The thing to bear in mind is that we are trying to keep postage costs to a minimum, so are looking to be able to post out in an envelope no bigger than large. Dimensions in the OP. Sorry am on my phone and having problems sc

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 27-Oct-13 08:26:47

Thank you so much for joining with us for our fundraiser for Winston's Wish.

You are a star thanks

rubycon Sun 27-Oct-13 09:01:48

agree with the postage - first time I took the parcel to the post office it was too thick to go through the hole, so I put them in a bigger packet to make it thinner and the difference was £3 in postage charges. Weight is secondary now. Still think they're robbing sods either way.

Mirage Sun 27-Oct-13 12:00:24

No problem,I'll double check the dimensions and crack on.grin

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 28-Oct-13 07:04:45

Thanks Mirage, you are a star X thanks

Hope no one has been blown away in this stormy weather, and that everyone is OK X

SuperNappy Tue 29-Oct-13 12:47:48

I'm on the scrounge...

Does anyone have any brooch pins? I've made three wee flowers that I'd like to make into brooches but I don't have any pins. I mean something like this: www.alchemyandice.com/images/T/BP0414S.jpg

They're on amazon but I'm a bit loathe to buy 25 or 50 when I only want three. If anyone has any going spare and could post to me I would happily PayPal you the postage?

Thank you smile

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 29-Oct-13 13:36:50

Have just looked around, and have found a pack of 5, they are 30mm long. We have had funds sent to help buy resources for crafters, so if that sounds OK, we are very happy to order them for you, if you let us have your address.

Shame because I was in a fab craft shop (sadly not local) and saw them at the weekend!

JollyScaryGiant Tue 29-Oct-13 13:42:17

I'm happy to buy them if you can give me the link? smile

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 29-Oct-13 14:56:26

I found 5 pieces with this sort of back here on Ebay

Now this is 10 here but with a safety back also on Ebay

Just reassure me that doesn't take you to my Ebay profile someone??!!

I wonder if we should buy them for Woolly Hugs and send three on to you, wondering if anyone else might like any for the craft sale.

GlaikitFizZombieFodder Tue 29-Oct-13 17:29:41

Not at all Pistey finishes Xmas shopping on eBay thlwink

GlaikitFizZombieFodder Tue 29-Oct-13 17:31:53

My style craft in bottle arrived today (already hidden it so DH can't moan) going off to Rav to find something suitably festive to make with it!

SuperNappy Tue 29-Oct-13 17:52:49

GlaikitFizZombieFodder Tue 29-Oct-13 18:11:04

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 03-Nov-13 15:18:24

Well lovely Pig, last posting is Saturday 30th November and the sale is the following w/e, starting on the Friday.

My worry is that things often take longer from you for obvious reasons, so if you can post any earlier it would be so much appreciated. thanks

And thank you so much X

Oh that's loads of time! I'll aim for the 23rd so, that's enough of time for postage isn't it?

MrsDeVere Sun 03-Nov-13 18:02:14

I have one and two thirds squares to finish for my latest Billie's Blanket.
They are big squares.

All the pinks and purples from the SK range so subtle it aint.
All of them are edged in Pomegranate an I will be joining them in Pomegranate.

This will be my first attempt at hooking squares together so it better bloody work.

Any tips?

I want to try and finish another blanket before the deadline but also want to contribute to the Winston's Wish appeal. The heat is on!

JollyStoutGiant Sun 03-Nov-13 18:07:34

Checking in and bumping smile

Pistey - I have just reread your OP and one of the things I have sent won't pack and send easily (it's a teacup candle I made) so I'd like you to have it as an early Christmas-cum-thank you present.

KnottyLocks Tue 19-Nov-13 22:04:42

Awww that's lovely of you smile

She'll love it!

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 20-Nov-13 06:41:41

Oh SDTG! That is so lovely of you - I really will love and treasure it, bless you. Thank you so much! Xx

It is a L'Oreal moment, Pistey - you are so worth it!

I realised this morning that I had forgotten to put in the scarf I meant to include - it is the Hitchhiker scarf by Martina Behm (I have checked with her and she is happy for it to be sold for charity), so I will get it packed up and into the post asap.

SuperNappy Wed 20-Nov-13 20:25:42

Post ready to go. Fingers crossed Royal Mail agree it's a small parcel. (It's amazing how much wool you can fit in a cereal box!)

FanFuckingTastic Wed 20-Nov-13 21:32:20

RatherBeOnThePiste Thu 21-Nov-13 09:30:57

I've made a few hanging decorations, including some hearts which have turned out quite BIG. Maybe they could be hung on door knobs. Or a sturdy tree grin will post this week.

RatherBeOnThePiste Sun 24-Nov-13 07:42:16

Morning brew

So many beautiful things arriving, huge thanks to everyone, folk are working so hard. Tis honestly marvellous. Photos are appearing on FB, just about to upload some more. We find that if we post too many pics too close together on Facebook that folk are less likely to see them, so we are attempting to spread them out, but of course this means it all takes much longer!

thanks Sincere thanks to SirBoobAlot for lovely knitted Christmas trees and scarves....

thanks to Bellavita for organising a friend to make a cute knitted Christmas wreath, thanks to her friend too, tis gorgeous...

thanks MNP for some adorable stocking fillers and decorations....

I made a hefty robin, he will need a sturdy tree too! I might make another, so whoever buys them can kinda balance out their tree

Elf and safety and all grin

KnottyLocks Sun 24-Nov-13 08:12:44

Maybe include a Disclaimer with Hefty Robin smile

JulesJules Sun 24-Nov-13 08:53:20

I also have made a fairly hefty robin. It has a bow on its head (from the hanging ribbon) so DD1 is calling it Bobina the Big Boned Robin grin

I am rather taken with the idea of a hefty robin - I might have to bid on one of them!

RatherBeOnThePiste Mon 25-Nov-13 06:05:15
