Woolly hugs

I'm recruiting Woolly Huggers - what should I start them on?

My church has started a Knit and Knatter group, and I went along today. I am in the middle of an Angel Hug, which attracted a lot of attention, and I ended up talking a lot about Woolly Hugs in general.

I have been asked to bring more information along to the next session, so that other people can join in (and make my Post Office parcel much fatter) but they had interest in different projects and I'm a bit overwhelmed.

There was particular interest in the Refugee project and the Angel Hugs and Little Hugs. I had a vague idea that there was a project for preemie-size hats, but I think I must have mistaken. A preemie hat accompanying a matching Angel Hug would presumably be welcome though?

Does anyone know of any other preemie hat project that I was thinking of, or could anyone give me a nudge in the right direction to get the ladies of the parish to turn their woolly stash into woolly treasure?

I'm going to print and laminate the beta.woollyhugs.com pages for the relevant projects as a starting point. I have a feeling they're all vastly more talented than I am and also have far more knitting time ...

I am Envy of you having a local knitting group. I'd love to join one, but the local one seems to have disbanded.

I think your idea of printing out the information is sensible. It might be easier for people to choose their own projects rather than you trying to organise a big group.

Otherwise squares for joint blankets might be a good place to start, either for refugees or Little Hugs/Billie's Blankets.

Thanks, very sensible.

The church has opened a cafe and the knitting group is to encourage people to go to the cafe. I had a nice chat with a lady who is basically me in 25 years from now (same degree, same children similarly spaced) Grin

She was doing a refugee shawl in chunky merino. It was lush.

We did have a preemie hat link with Southampton, but it was never very clear from them exactly what they wanted or needed

Think squares are a good way to go, and other groups have then made their own Billie's Blanket using them. You need 20 twelve inch squares, ideally all in Stylecraft Special DK, we do have some we could send if this was something that could help. Our next Billie's deadline is up...

see here....

Last posting of whole blankets to us is May 6th. This could be something to aim for?
