Following on from our previous support thread please check in here if there's any help, particularly (but not exclusively) knitting help, you need for the squares for 3girlies, who sadly lost her beloved 6-year-old dd Flora recently.

The details of the blanket project are here and it directs you to the Crafting Guide on Woolly Hugs, with specific sections for crocheters and knitters. I am still maintaining the original document mostly because I haven't got around to separating out the stuff that's already on Woolly Hugs now from the newer suggestions we've had in the last few weeks. So please, by all means do send me suggestions for new patterns or ideas.

For those of you on Ravelry and participating in the Ravellenic games, I think squares could be entered under a number of categories such as balance beads, doubleknit boxing, lace longjump among possibly some others.

lentil, if you PM Pistey, she can set you up with a donor.

Beautiful squares soremummy smile

I love the designs knitted into them. Did you design those patterns yourself?

bobkate Fri 03-Aug-12 23:00:58

Oh wow - soremummy they are beautiful squares. Really lovely.
Trib - thanks for the link for doing stripes. I've still got one more square to do for Expat and Giraffe though.
Is there anyway to work out how much wool is needed for one square? I'd hate to start and there not be enough.

trumpton Fri 03-Aug-12 23:36:50

I have ordered my wool tonight and will start the squares as soon as it arrives.

soremummy, those squares are gorgeous!

I will be knitting for 3girlies, but not until I get back from holiday. I picked up some wool yesterday from the only wool shop within 50 miles to knit some squares for my DSs' blankets, but the only DK they stocked is not-very-nice acrylic. I went searching for another wool shop I'd found on the internet, only to find that all the stock was sadly washed away in a hurricane last year and the shop owner has not re-opened.

Knitting with acrylic has reminded me just how lovely the wools we are using for the woolly hugs blankets is.

Morning brew

Thanks for all PMs, just having a caffeine fix then I'm on the case smile thanks

bobkate You weigh a finished square, then weigh your wool and see. I can't do this as the scales we have aren't accurate enough, but that's wot Pidjy and Knots always say smile

soremummy Sat 04-Aug-12 09:52:56

My lovely green cream and blue Debbie bliss arrived this morning. Many thanks to my kind donor. Hope to do you proud with my squares

I'm off to take my cubics back. I will resist the urge to buy the set I've got birthday money burning a whole in my pocket I will concentrate on finding nice patterns and knitting squares instead. I will NOT buy anything from the shop I promise ( unless I see something really nice)

tribpot Sat 04-Aug-12 10:55:20

Soremummy - cricket on in Headingley today confused parking could be a pain.

soremummy Sat 04-Aug-12 11:20:38

Thanks for telling me tribpot. Was getting dh to drive me so I just jump out of car and run in. I don't really like driving but I think there is method in his madness --- it means I won't be long in shop so I can't spend much money smile

Marking my place while I pm Pistey, so sad that we need another blanket.

PurplePidjmicGymnastics Sat 04-Aug-12 17:43:33

Sorry I'm late, I've been in Latvia supervising teenagers and crocheting

Hit me with hooky questions as needed!

I have changed my cubics and ready to go now I have my wool. I resisted temptation to buy anything els smile. It's my birthday today and I've now got to do a tea party. Then I can do my square with new needles hoping I don't break these ones

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 04-Aug-12 18:41:30

'ello Pidjy smile

soremummy

Team SorePiste crochet is finished, tis on my profile with Idris, don't make off with him, or the KnottyOne will be grumpy. But it was GOOD - don't give up hooking grin

and Happy Birthday wine

soremummy Sat 04-Aug-12 19:01:41

Lovely crochet I especially think the blue is excellent grin and the wine is most appreciated cheers! Well done on the team effort

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 04-Aug-12 19:02:53

The blue is deffo the best bit wine cheers!

tribpot Sat 04-Aug-12 19:27:43

Team SorePiste take gold in the crochet doubles event, well done!

Happy birthday soremummy! Enjoy yourself. BRE is open tomorrow for Olympic-based knitting fun, although I'm sure you won't want to come back over a second day running.

soremummy Sat 04-Aug-12 19:38:48

Thank you tribpot. I think I'll avoid there tomorrow. I'm sitting her looking at my new cubics (replaced them both!). I'm sort of afraid to use them hmm wondering how many rows I do this time before breakage again. I'll let you know how I go with them

soremummy Sat 04-Aug-12 19:40:41

Oh big thank you to crafty for her patience with me otherwise the blue wouldn't have been done

PurplePidjin Sat 04-Aug-12 20:21:22
