Feminism exposed

Feminism, as I understand it, is about equality. Feminists are allegedly people, predominantly women, who believe men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. This looks good on the surface, that men and women should have equality. But that is not the full story:

If feminists believe in equality, why don't they call themselves equalists? Calling yourself a feminist is implying that you are only focused on women's rights. I've never had a feminist answer this question. If you believe in equality, you should call yourself an equalist, not a feminist. Mothers, in family courts, have more rights than fathers. Yet I've never seen feminists upset or troubled by this. It seems that feminists only focus on women's rights and not men's. So, why not call yourself an equalist?

Reality Fri 16-Aug-13 13:41:19

Am I only allegedly a person?

Crikey.

Well, if you're interested...

...oh, I can't be arsed grin

Queen0fFeckingEverything Fri 16-Aug-13 13:42:35

"Feminists are allegedly people"

<looks in mirror>

Nope, I am definitely a person.

Your punctuation and your argument are both a bit rubbish smile

ImNotBloody14 Fri 16-Aug-13 13:44:36

I thought feminists were a type of fish? confused

grimbletart Fri 16-Aug-13 13:44:57

Feminism (n) the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of equality of the sexes. The Oxford English Dictionary.

motherinferior Fri 16-Aug-13 13:45:16

Oh, you again.

AnyFucker Fri 16-Aug-13 13:45:30

I know what I would call you sunshine wink

RippingYarns Fri 16-Aug-13 13:47:15

because to me an equalist only strives for women to have rights equal to a mans rights, implying that what a man has is the benchmark, that you cannot better what a man has

can't believe i'm engaging here

SinisterSal Fri 16-Aug-13 13:47:15

'Feminists are allegedly people'

That's my favourite bit. I know it's quoted out of context serve my own sinister agenda, I know it makes no sense, but that's the way we roll here on FWR these days, since Organic came to play

Sheshelob Fri 16-Aug-13 13:50:00

Oh, Organic. The thinking lizard's crumpet. Back for more wimmin baiting.

You've changed my life with all your lolling and thinking and tenuous grasp of basic grammatical rules.

I want to hear more about YOU. What do you do when you aren't being a pretty rubbish troll? Sudoku? Zumba?

Bunnylion Fri 16-Aug-13 13:51:09

Why isn't anyone here taking this seriously?

Don't you know that men are not as stupid as what the feminists think they are.

lol smile

<waves to Shesh>

Before we get into the race, religion, sexuality etc of a person we have their sex. Feminists fight for equality of the sexes. Ideally once that happens everything falls into place.

That is how I see it. I don't need to declare myself an "equalist" because being a feminist (to me) means fighting for a basic human right at a biological level.

That may not be how others see it but it is like that for me.

Sheshelob Fri 16-Aug-13 13:56:11

<overexcited double handed wave at Buffster>

Oi, oi, saveloy!

Secretswitch Fri 16-Aug-13 13:57:16

Unfortunately, I cannot answer your question as my Rockefeller feminist funding has somehow failed to arrive.

Sheshelob Fri 16-Aug-13 13:58:06

Alas, there is no point, LWW. Organic has just completed Year 7 Trolling and is trying it out for size. I fear he may need to spend less time staring at his David Icke poster and more time doing his homework.

Sheshelob Fri 16-Aug-13 13:59:27

Um, I may have received your wheelbarrow of riches, actually, secret. It came with a charming little nutcracker and man-mincer. Quite darling.

greenhill Fri 16-Aug-13 14:01:09

'allegedly people' grin

I wish I could take this seriously but I've seen the Rockefeller thread

Was your mincy man a bit like this?

CaptChaos Fri 16-Aug-13 14:04:45

Which man would I want to be equal to though? A Rockefeller with all his space lizard money and plans for world domination through the use of Feminist Iluminati Freemasons? You, Organic?

My poor female mind couldn't possibly guess.

I do like kittens though.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 14:09:03

If feminists believe in equality, why don't they call themselves equalists?

Erm..because that's not what the Rockefellers named us?

Try this thread Enlightening

TheVermiciousKnid Fri 16-Aug-13 14:09:25

Ah yes, more 100% organic BS. Lovely.

I like kittens too, CaptChaos. But I couldn't eat a whole one.

Sheshelob Fri 16-Aug-13 14:11:27

Yes, but wearing lizard, of course, and plotting the end of the world. But luckily, Organic has a lever thingy that can open a trap door and make all the feminists plop into hell and the men can get their willies back because all the horrid feminists did steal them and then refuse to do the washing up because a man lizard called Rockefeller told them not to.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 14:11:55
Secretswitch Fri 16-Aug-13 14:12:49

Sheshelob, oh just keep it. I have no time for this feminist nonsense as I am giving my darling husband sexy time whilst baking a quiche!
Buffy, I fear OP might faint dead away if confronted by your man-mincer. He has only just started on the Feminists, the Gays and Jews can't be far behind..

Reality Fri 16-Aug-13 14:13:14

I actually misread the title and was expecting to see boobs.

Sheshelob Fri 16-Aug-13 14:16:04

Just the one boob here.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 14:16:12

I seem to have trouble locating a man mincer but found some casual wear

Man Mincer

Its also makes bacon - bonus.

colditz Fri 16-Aug-13 14:16:58

Mothers don't have more rights than fathers. Main carers have more rights than none main carers. Several of my friends are single fathers who have residency because they were the main carer.

MrsGeologist Fri 16-Aug-13 14:17:39

I'm not a person, I'm a lizard.

AnyFucker Fri 16-Aug-13 14:20:49

I can see a big tit

NomNomDePlum Fri 16-Aug-13 14:25:17

as usual, anyfucker has covered everything.

grimbletart Fri 16-Aug-13 14:27:06

I think you (we) are all wery wery cwool to poor ickle Oracle. It's the summer holidays and his Mummy has taken away his colouring book and crayons for being a naughty boy.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 14:28:49
wordfactory Fri 16-Aug-13 14:35:47

Oh equalist just sounds rubbish! And being a girly girl I can't do ugly.

Organic100 Fri 16-Aug-13 14:38:50

Dam! I was hoping to come across some intelligent feminists this time. I guess they don't exist after all sad

grimbletart Fri 16-Aug-13 14:40:47

Intelligent feminists reply intelligently to intelligent posters. Therefore you cannot expect to be answered.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 14:44:10

Organic Try nethuns.

Woodhead Fri 16-Aug-13 14:47:28

Organic, there are 107 pages of discussion in FWR. This issue has been very sensibly discussed in the past. If you are interested then perhaps go to the last page and start reading backwards.

HungryGeorge Fri 16-Aug-13 14:48:13

Sorry Organic, these people are beyond you.. by coming here you're like a lamb to the slaughter, posters on this board are articulate, intelligent women who won't be bullied.. exactly the type that you despise, right? they won't kowtow and worship you as you would like, do go back to your sycophants on fb, at least a few of them will still boost your ego.. not many now though I notice ;)

SinisterSal Fri 16-Aug-13 14:48:48

You big eejit Organic

<tousles head>

TheVermiciousKnid Fri 16-Aug-13 14:48:54

There are many very intelligent discussions to be found on this board. Your original post and thread title are unlikely to elicit one though.

And I suspect you wouldn't recognise intelligence if it bit you on the bum.

ImNotBloody14 Fri 16-Aug-13 14:57:07

feminists are a very intelligent type of fish normally found around the southern coast of Australia. they are a territorial fish and feast on those less intelligent fish that have delusions of having 'big balls' leading them to mistakenly think they can swim in a ring around the shoal of feminists. feminists also have a wicked sense of humour and have mastered the art of internet debate. wink

AnyFucker Fri 16-Aug-13 14:59:40

Nah, I like just laughing at the tits

SerotoninCanEatTomorrow Fri 16-Aug-13 15:05:22

There is a FB 'thing' behind all this is there?

HungryGeorge Fri 16-Aug-13 15:09:43

Oh yes.. Mr Organic was quite the celeb on there for a while.. even had media coverage and his local mp involved.. I believe he even managed to cause a debate in Parliament. Unfortunately he wasn't able to disguise his true intentions and his campaign fell flat when certain things were revealed about him.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 15:10:24

Is this where you get your information from Organic?

Daily Fail Link - Warning shite content

AnyFucker Fri 16-Aug-13 15:11:21

Certain "things" you say ? grin

HungryGeorge Fri 16-Aug-13 15:18:30

haha yup AF.. very unsavoury things.. mysoginy is the least of his failings..

btw I'm not new, I'm a namechanger and this name is a clue to OP's identity grin

ElephantsAndMiasmas Fri 16-Aug-13 15:23:13

"I've never had a feminist answer this question."

That's because they're too busy laughing at you, petal.

Those cat cakes were well good.

curlew Fri 16-Aug-13 15:24:55

Do you think if someone answered his question for him he's go away?

AnyFucker Fri 16-Aug-13 15:25:48

Ooh, curiouser and curipuser

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 15:27:11

HungryGeorge shock

Well well well.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones Fri 16-Aug-13 15:49:12

Oh it's hungry george is it?

<checks out FB>

Morgause Fri 16-Aug-13 15:52:58

Aw. Bless.

Here's a little bit of cake for you cake.

TheVermiciousKnid Fri 16-Aug-13 16:00:29

Ah yes, a little googling is very illuminating.

Bizarre.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 16:04:15
CaptChaos Fri 16-Aug-13 16:38:35

Oh god, I have got female brain. While admiring kittens I have failed to have any clue what the Hungry George reference is about.

Maybe Organic is right and I am unintelligent.

Fuck

Organic100 Fri 16-Aug-13 16:45:55

I'm still unsure who feminists hate more--men or women. They also seem to hate ladies, not just men.

Weegiemum Fri 16-Aug-13 16:48:41

I'm a feminist and I don't hate anyone.

My dh is a feminist too, so you probably don't like either of us much.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 16:48:48

We don't hate men or women in general.
We hate ignorant pricks.
No gender requirement to be an idiot.

And we love Lizards,
and cats
and cakes

RippingYarns Fri 16-Aug-13 16:51:01

i don't hate men

i actually <whispers> love some shock

especially my feminist DH and DSs <proud>

Morgause Fri 16-Aug-13 16:51:22

We dislike fuckwits of either sex.

And you are such a one.

More cake?

cake

SabrinaMulhollandJjones Fri 16-Aug-13 16:52:44

I just hate everyone. Except kittens.

Organic, will you be eating that cake ??

SinisterSal Fri 16-Aug-13 16:54:47

Thanks for this gem too - feminists hate men, women and also ladies.

MrsBucketxx Fri 16-Aug-13 16:55:29

Op word to the wise, dont try and fight the feminists on their own board.

not the brightest idea

colditz Fri 16-Aug-13 16:58:31

Oh god organic100, don't say that, I beg you. You are having such an effect on me with your frightening words, I will become all confused!

Maybe, perhaps... Could you? Could you mansplain it to me? So I can understand and be a real lady? Not like those yucky feminists who don't understand that if only they would do what you say, they'd be happy. All ladies are happy, aren't they, Organic100? And if I'm a good girl and do all the things nice men like you want me to do, I'll be a lady and I can be happy too.

I don't like being a feminist, it's too much for me to worry my pretty little head about.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones Fri 16-Aug-13 17:04:14

Well it's been fun, but I'm going to prepare a nutritious meal for my family now....

<gasp> is that even allowed under the feminist charter?

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 17:06:36

It is Sabrina,as long as you make a cake too.

YoniTime Fri 16-Aug-13 17:07:08

Are ladies not women? Lol.
So if feminists are only allegedly people...what are they really? Lizards?
cakecakecake

NicholasTeakozy Fri 16-Aug-13 17:18:21

This chap isn't quite the full shilling is he?

wordfactory Fri 16-Aug-13 17:38:23

organic we don't hate the menz!

I'm vair fond of my georgous husband and lovely son.

We just hate sexist pricks. Soz.

MrsGeologist Fri 16-Aug-13 18:03:02

Ladies are women wot know their place, innit.

CaptChaos Fri 16-Aug-13 18:04:13

Surely after a while your blood sugar returns to normal and you stop being able to blame misogyny on that?

Have some of the lovely Kitteh cake, maybe a nice hot, sweet brew

I'm sure if you ask nicely one of the laydeez will scurry along and make you one.

Sadly I can't, I am terribly busy knitting my DH and DSs x2 lovely 'I love feminism' jumpers so that they can be ready for those cold winter demonstrations.

They do like a lovely hand knitted jumper.

TheVermiciousKnid Fri 16-Aug-13 18:08:46

Ladies are women wot know their place, innit.

That's, it MrsGeologist, you've got it.

I know my place: right now it's in front of the laptop, mumsnetting. That must mean I'm a lady.

Boosterseat Fri 16-Aug-13 18:33:41

Ooh I love a handmade jumper

And an unmade bed.

AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom Fri 16-Aug-13 18:49:35

I am very fond of quite a few men, and boys, and women, and girls.

I'm less keen on deluded numpties. Perhaps we should fight for equal rights for them, they clearly a persecuted minority.

Hahaha, you silly little sod. You are an evolutionary dead end, that's your problem.

I hate men?!

Oh, now that's news to me. I have loved many men, and my grandfathers, uncles, brother and son are especially closely loved.

Does this mean I'm not a feminist? sad

rosabud Sat 17-Aug-13 01:40:34

Family divorce courts are very unfair to men you know - oh THAT old chestnut!! Yes, being a peniless divorcee - I'm so sympathetic!

SigmundFraude Sat 17-Aug-13 20:21:47

'You are an evolutionary dead end, that's your problem.'

What do you mean? Are you referring to the Y chromosome?

Siggy - No. What I mean is that MRAs like this buckethead are so inadequate women won't shag them, therefore they are going to become extinct.

SigmundFraude Sat 17-Aug-13 20:43:35

O right. I was about to bore you with the latest research on the Y chromosome! As you were..

SPBisResisting Sat 17-Aug-13 20:47:42

STOP BEING DANDY SHOWING ME YOUR HAMSTER

What hamster? confused

SPBisResisting Sat 17-Aug-13 21:56:53

it was a subtle attempt at place marking.
Was I not subtle? Oops grin

Oops blush

caramelwaffle Sun 18-Aug-13 09:19:21

I luffs SGB's pithy retorts.

I googled: not the full shilling is he?

NicholasTeakozy Sun 18-Aug-13 10:13:34

Not the full shilling = Not all there. Shouldn't be allowed access to the internet.

Dervel Mon 19-Aug-13 03:54:11

Organic you're either you didn't ask the question you meant to ask or you are just baiting people. If the latter please ignore me no good will come it.

If by my blind optimism you just need some course correction please examine your phrasing. You make a series of irrelevant suppositions about feminism that "appears" to makes a valid logical statement. You talk about feminists and your potential equalists as one in the same. One would be an equalist (which by definition would make one a feminist or vice versa), and yet choose to focus your efforts on equality for women, and tear down the barriers specifically aimed at keeping women down.

This does not in anyway preclude you from being an equalist either, but there is only so much time in the day, and it makes sense to focus on issues that resonate with you. Besides as a feminist you prevent a marginalization that effects some half the population of the planet, so if I could wave a magic wand and remove one inequality from the world it would be discrimination against women. That isn't to say I don't care about gay rights, racism or any of the others it's just that my one use of the magic wand would be most efficient waved in that direction. IMO, and it is by that belief that people identify as feminists. Feminism does not mean anti-equality, and if you believe it does I am afraid my friend you are in error and need to go away, educate yourself and come back when you know what you are talking about.

DadWasHere Mon 19-Aug-13 04:54:38

You got more time and energy than me Dervel, probably more optimism as well.
