Mexico City Policy - Trump

So Trump has signed back into law the MCP which prevents US dollars going to organizations that perform abortions. Even though none of the American dollars are spent on them. So an organization which funds birth control and sexual education with US money... if they use other money to fund abortions, will be defunded.

And he signed the executive order in a sea of men.

Are people so genuinely stupid that they can't understand that birth control and sex ed prevents abortions? Or is this the price of having Pence get him the Christian Right vote?

Utter scum.

And after he stacks the Supreme Court, Roe v Wade will be under tremendous pressure.

This will be a rolling, waking nightmare.

Look at this picture. What do you notice? When will we see the reverse - women signing a bill about men's reproductive rights?

The photo of him signing that executive order surrounded by men (who all looked ever so smug) made me so angry. The implications of this are horrendous. And all this pretend-caring about the unborn - as soon as the baby is born they don't give a shit. And they don't give a shit about the woman anyway.

(On a lighter note, the photo you included, amispartacus, confused me. Then I remembered that I had downloaded an add-on on this computer which replaces pictures of Trump (and Farage) with kittens. Attempting to keep my blood pressure down...)

And it was done just after the march. What does that say?

I'm so fucking angry about this.

Increasingly I think we should all just go celibate and tell men to go fuck themselves, literally and metaphorically.

On Chrome there is an extension called 'Trump Kittens' (as well as 'Nigel to Kitten'), I think there are also others. I'm not sure about other browsers - Firefox probably has similar. It doesn't manage to replace all Trump pictures but most of them. Very amusing to find a picture of a cute kitten in a story about Trump/Farage. Grin

I'm very worried about Roe v Wade. I'm across the border so expecting at least a few abortion refugees.

In a way MCP is worse because it affects women and children in the majority world. None of whom voted for this or can do anything to change it.

And who probably have problems accessing contraception and in ensuring that their sexual partners use it.

Still, what does Trump care about women who aren't American.

This policy is signed and enacted then rescinded every time a democratic to republican or vice versa is elected. I think this is no 5?

Yes it's shit but hes not the first.

Yes it's shit but hes not the first. I think he may have been the quickest. It's his first week FFS.

Is there a list of the defunded charities anywhere that anyone knows about? I feel a bout of charitable generosity coming on.

Looks like the Netherlands is proposing a fund to 'replace' the US funding.

Good for Lilianne Ploumen. I would give to that fund in a second.

Wow, I'm amazed by the belief killing babies is a charitable action.

At least get your facts straight. No American money goes to perform abortions overseas. None. Zero. Not for decades.

This money was going to charities that supply birth control, family planning advice and prenatal care. They also happen to receive OTHER money that may go to terminations, abortion advice or even campaigns to legalize abortion in those counties where it is illegal. In some cases it's illegal even in cases of rape, incest, mother and/or baby will die before birth, abuse.

So yes, I do consider that charitable. It also PREVENTS abortions. Because decent sex ed, advice and birth control does prevent unwanted pregnancy and therefore abortions, including illegal ones that kill the mother.

I know you're a troll. I'm posting for other people who might be lurking and confused about what this actually means.

There are no baby killing charities Tyto as that would be illegal wouldn't it? Hmm

You can sure as shit guarantee that Trump would be significantly less "pro-life" if his wandering dick got HIM pregnant. Luckily for him, he is a man so he can sign papers making decisions about those with vaginas, while remaining completely unaffected.

I live in a country where abortion is illegal and women have no rights. The only way you'd get an abortion here is if having the baby would kill you. Even then it would need to be approved by a panel of men medics. If you can't afford the baby, tough shit on you and the child. If you can't educate the baby, tough shit on you and the child. If you already have 6 other children, tough shit on you all. You can harp on about sex education, contraception and abstinence if you like. We don't have sex education here. We do have contraception but those who most need it would be denied it by their husbands and most likely unable get to the pharmacy anyway, what with not being able to drive... Abstinence is a two way street but men have needs that their chattels provide, so they win. Imagine how terrifying life must be when you have next to no free will.

Trump should be sent here. He'd fit in nicely among the higher powers. It's funny how someone so anti Muslim has the most Sharia compliant views...

Tyto... US tax dollars haven't been used to provide abortions in the developing world. Nor has it been used to kill any babies. Sorry you're so ridiculously ill informed. Maybe remove your Google search for a bit so you don't make yourself look quite so foolish again?

But the people affected are women and non American so why would he care about them? He's also concerned about murder and rape by illegal immigrants so I am looking forward to him addressing issues of murder, rape, DV of American women by American men. I strongly suspect he won't do anything about that but he will reduce funding for important programmed that receive federal funding.

Dervel · 26/01/2017 09:11

I know it's a cheap point but I would imagine a great many US tax dollars have killed babies, children, men and women (pregnant or no). All the bombs, drone strikes etc etc.

I think if you wanted to be trully pro life you'd have to oppose United States foreign policy (ultimately in this area the distinction between a Trump or an Obama is pretty negligible).
