Melania Trump

I might be alone in this, I hope not, but is anyone else disappointed by the slut shaming and vitriol aimed towards her?

Her husband is a disgusting reptile, that's a given. But in the last day or two I have seen her called a tramp, gold digger, whore, slag, dirty, and trash.

Today a 'feminist' page on FB - this one if you're interested www.facebook.com/feministnews.us/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE
published a meme about her basically laughing at how thick she supposedly is. What was particularly horrible were the comments underneath from women, all who you would assume to be feminists as they follow the page. Vile comments including 'I hope they wiped down the chair she sat on in the white house' and 'when do they install the stripper pole'.

I understand that feminism doesn't mean that all women are above reproach but really? We have a man in the White House who hates women, direct your hatred at him!

And tbh as she's married to DT I suspect her life isn't a picnic, he is a nasty bully.

Absolutely agree.

Given that he has boldly stated that he treats women like shit, I very much doubt her life is a rose garden. He seems to have done what he could to make her look like shit during his campaign too, what with giving her a couple of plagiarised speeches to read, and discussing her as if she's not present while she's standing next to him.

She may well not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but so what? She isn't the President elect, for our sins, her vile shit of a husband is and that's who we should be directing our rage at. However, it does seem to be easier to punch down on women, doesn't it?

I totally agree. There was a vile thread yesterday where she was referred to as "Melanoma". I'm surprised it is still there. I am absolutely no fan of Donald Trump but she seems undeserving of all the vitriol.

I agree.

I hope those posting on that FB page are trolling. If not, their feminism is not my feminism.

Completely agree.

All over Twatter are naked pictures of her. People are showing her no respect.

I feel bad for their son (Barron) too

I have no intention of stooping to the level of Trump's supporters, who apparently think it's reasonable to blame the wife for the failings of the husband. Melania is her own woman (at least until Trump implements some version of Saudi law that means no women are allowed outside unless chaperoned by a man) and she can be criticised on that basis if need be. I'm not sure she ever really harboured any ambition to be the First Lady and I think it will be very tough for her as a result. All of her predecessors, particularly Michelle Obama, have been formidable women in their own right (I'm not completely convinced Nancy Reagan wasn't acting president by the end of her husband's tenure) and I hope she has good advisors to help her find her path.

Yep. And it seems to be coming from the tolerance-preaching left. The woman has done nothing wrong and she deserves to be afforded basic human respect.

As for the people talking shit about their son, don't even get me started. It was 3:30am and he was probably confused and overwhelmed, as well as being (understandably) exhausted!

His former wife described what sounds to me like a sexual assault, he is vile towards women and treats them with contempt. All I feel for her is deep sorrow. Blaming the wife of an abusive man for his abuse seems to be standard now.

There's a TV show with Ruby Wax (Ruby's American Pie- look it up on You Tube)from about 16 yrs ago when Donald Trump first considered running for President....she interviews Melania ( who's a model at this time and just been associated with Trump) in all honestly you wouldn't recognise her as the automaton she is today...she was lively, engaged and very personable.....she actually broke up with DT shortly after the programme aired..... I feel she's been objectified as his 'trophy wife'

I have only just found this board but just wanted to leap in I completely agree with this. I don't know anything about Melania but it is not her I object to. The thought of her and their son being the target of people's dissatisfaction with Trump is to me quite sad and wrong.

Well, I can judge her for marrying DT and remaining married despite all the evidence of his sexual assaults etc can't I?

And based on all evidence, she is thick.

I'm not sure either of these matter as FLOTUS, but the thought of the Obamas handing over to this pair of idiots make me want to weep.

I'm not going to call MT a whore or slut, but she does seem thick and sexist

I haven't seen any naked pictures of her, but were they private photos or taken Without her knowledge?

If they are posed commercial photos presumably she has no problem with them being shared?

Looking at her public demeanour over the past few days has made me quite concerned for her tbh. She's like a rabbit in the headlights and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if she doesn't go the distance.

She's already said she wants to be a "traditional" FLOTUS in the style of Jackie K fgs - Jackie had her own home in Virginia and barely spent any time in the WH - so I wonder if that's her putting down her marker that she's not getting too involved?

America's first 'lady'.
Jesus Christ.

I did actually quite respect her when after the pussy grabber comments came out she said that the words were 'unacceptable and offensive to me'.

Report
QueenLaBeefah · 12/11/2016 20:30

I feel sorry for her. She's married to a twat and probably never imagined that she would be First Lady of America.

Maybe she is thick? I've no idea but it is not a crime to be and I don't think people should be vilified over something they have absolutely no control over.

She didn't have to marry him

She doesn't have to remain married to him

I judge

Yes, as do I. And for defending him. If I thought my DH was out grabbing women 'by the pussy' I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be out flag-waving for him.

(I kind of judge HRC for still being married to Bill too for similar reasons.)

I agree.
She doesn't have to stay married to him. If she came here on the Relationship Board with everything that's come out so far in the election she would be told to LTB.

She needs to get out while she can, imo.
She will become a complete laughing stock even more so than her husband Whether or not she 'signed up for the job' is irrelevant. The press coverage will be relentless and she has neither the grace or intelligence to deal with it.
