Not sure if im posting in the right place..however, i've been reading some well known magazines such as Marie Claire and grazier. For a while it's been drawn to my attention the Media's response to skinny women. And it does upset me cause sometimes there are reasons for being thin. However scanning these magazines at looking at some of the thinner models I do wonder how exploited they are. They look tired And some of them actually quite poorly. It makes me wonder if they actually eat anything and what their life style behind the camera is like and what kind of pressure it must be to have a beach style body. Do others think the same?

I think models are less exploited than other jobs, meaning that they are paid better, but yeah, they are probably not paid adequate compensation for the damage they have to do to their bodies.

Read some articles on the lifestyle ... it really sounds no fun at all. Apparently, many are drug addicts, since some drugs help keeping the appetite down ...

What is the logic behind their 'image'? If the fashion industry is all about selling clothes, why demonstrate them on clothes-horses who look nothing like normal people in terms of body shape? If the average UK woman is a size 12-14, why display a coat on a 6 stone model? It doesn't make sense.

Yes I think I'll try and find some articles.
I don't think there is anything wrong with being a 6 or 8 as long as long as it's healthy looking. However after seeing some of these models that look so poorly I think I would rather see a 12 -14 with a healthier skin and a toned body. Overall I think it's about confidence in the end.

I think part of it is the assumption that women want to look slimmer, and they think modelling clothes on slim women will make the rest of us believe we will look slimmer if we wear their clothes too.
