Women more promiscuous than men? Fuming!

Apparently this is what passes for journalism in the popular alternative media in the United States now :-

www.infowars.com/how-popular-culture-is-encouraging-promiscuity/

How are these idiots getting away with it?

I have no idea.

"Women have as many sexual partners as men" ... yeah, big suprise, did you think all those men were gay? Of course the number will be the same once you remove the lies.

Didn't read more after that.

Apparently, enough people are reading their bullshit articles, so that's why they get away with it. Money. In the end, it's all about money.

Get yourself an adblocker to not support sites you don't like by looking at their advertisements. Other than that, I have no idea what could be done, sorry.

So why are women tempted to become sluts?

They’re biologically programmed to be sluts and the dominant culture is encouraging them to be sluts.

Why do you think 50 shades of Grey has sold 125 million copies worldwide?

Because it taps into the dirty little secret that huge numbers of women have rape fantasies.

The whole thing reads as "oh no, women are sluts because they are having sex just as much as men, society is ruined, we need a sexual renaissance, put those sluts back in their place"

I don't understand why it's surprising that women have the same amount of partners. Do they think every woman a man has had sex with thinks "oh well, better be celibate now as I've had my quota, wouldn't wanna be a slut now"

And then to go straight into talk about rape after talking about biological programmed "sluts" sounds like another "asking for it" load of shit.

IF women are biologically programmed to be anything then that's choosy. It just makes more sense to only sleep with attractive men if you can get pregnant - after all, you don't want to go through nine month of pregnancy for a child with a bad immune system.

A slut, in my definition, is a woman who puts up with bad sex (or worse, date rape) in the hopes that she will have fun and/or men will like her. In short, a woman who has fallen for the lies of patriarchy and is insulted by men for her efforts.

And yes ... one could say society encourages such behaviour. Society also encourages rape fantasies. I mean, if the men watch porn, women without rape fantasies wouldn't be sexually compatible, right?

And ... we would KNOW if women were more promiscuous than men. Because that'd mean a lot more lesbians than presently exist. Lots and lots of lesbians. Grin

As things are, I think it's a safe bet that men are more promiscuous. There are more gay men than lesbian women, and they also are more promiscuous than lesbian women, so ...

I read a while ago (haven't read the link, sorry) that the discrepancy between men and women's reported number of sexual partners is because of two things:

  1. Men exaggerating their number and women downplaying theirs
  2. Men using prostitutes, so a high number of men will have a slightly greater number of sexual partners, while a small number of women will have a much, much greater number.

I never felt as a teenager I was biologically programmed to have children. Having been educated to a fairly high standard in global terms by then, I understood what having children did to women, but fell in later life for the false premise of having babies within the patriarchal structure of a family, i.e. marriage.

Not that I would change things, my children are beautiful and I'm very proud of them (and me).

All I could think of reading that article was that it was written by a bloke who loved saying "slut". Bit how a five year old thinks it's great to shout "willy, bum, poo".

Yup writer has mentality of a five year old.

"So why are women tempted to become sluts?"

I can only hope the author is trying to be ironic, because otherwise this is a vile statement to make

I've very, very rarely noticed the word "promiscuous" being used about heterosexual men, have you?

Annie, I think it is assumed to be normal for men to be promiscuous.

I think it sounds like perhaps the author has been wronged somehow by a woman.

Perhaps an ex partner or maybe even his mother.

He certainly sounds like he has no respect for women, and perhaps even his fellow man.

What sort of world does he live in?

Must be very sad.

I recall reading a cynical suggestion that gay men who are promiscuous aren't being especially "gay", they're being male. Plenty of straight men would do exactly the same, if they could just find women willing to cooperate, but the demand for that kind of relationship is very one-sided.

Tei I think that's very probably true - not so sure though what is cynical about it.

"What sort of world does he live in?"

Infowars is a website run by ultra right-wing "truther", climate change denialist and general frothy nutter Alex Jones. He and the people who write for and presumably read his site live in a small and hate-filled world of paranoia and sputtering rage against women, muslims, the government, foreigners, LGBT people, socialism and something called globalism. I really don't know how one would go about talking to these people, but I do second Vestal's adblocker suggestion.
