Feminism: Sex & gender discussions

Someone just shared this on my timeline. Just don't even know where to start with it <picture included, grim but not graphic>

I know I shouldn't share it further, but I am just sat here Shock and Angry and just don't even know where to begin with it all. A woman I went to uni with has just shared this all 'lol'.

The sexualisation of dummies and lollies, and children, the idea that girls/women are in training for sucking dicks and the inevitability of it, the creepy coercive overtone with the 'shh...its ok'.

Genuinely making me feel a bit grim. Have reported to FB, though don't expect anything to be done.

The person concerned has two small children, both recently pictures with dummies. I just don't understand how anyone could look at that and think 'lol'.

I just keep swapping between Shock and Angry and Sad and back again.

It's hardly like its the first shitty FB picture I've seen, but this one has really got to me. Feel useless somehow that I can't do more than report and delete said 'friend'.

It's the shhhushing that's really crap!

I would have to judge the sender to be an brainwashed idiot. And I do try not to judge!

Shock Shock

That's pretty grim. Not at all funny.

Meandyouandyouandme · 12/05/2015 10:44

That's awful, though could apply to boys/men as well as I can't see anything specific to women. It's just the sexualisation of children that it implies Angry

Meandyou It could, though I'm highly doubtful it's the intention.

Jesus Sad

Can you write something under it like 'I really feel I have no other option than to defriend you after you shared this. Can you not see how bloody horrible it is? I'm sorry.'

then defriend. Or not depending on her response.

puts it out there to anyone else who sees it, iyswim.

Maybe that is all you can really do.

^^I'd say something like that, but without the "I'm sorry" bit. It's vile, really really awful.

Sorry, I know saying it could apply to boys makes it no better. It's just horrifying, can't imagine why some people think this is funny.

thehumanjam · 12/05/2015 12:35

You have to challenge her on it and tell her exactly why it's wrong. Quite clearly she needs educating on this issue.

Report
PuffinsAreFictitious · 12/05/2015 12:57

Not sure it does apply to boys as well as girls. Not sure boys are expected to suck cock in the same way as boys are. I might have missed the point though.

Whatever, it's bloody grim.
