Two pieces that caught my attention - a conversation with Oby Ezekwezili of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign on the anniversary of the Chibok kidnapping at the beginning, and an interview with Nazir Afzal (former lead prosecutor in widespread abuse cases) at the end of the programme (I missed the middle so only heard these two pieces!)
Oby Ezekwezili talked about how appalling it is that we are one year on and no closer to freeing the girls. She said that girls should not have to choose between being educated and being killed.
Nazir Afzal made it very clear that the abuse was about men doing it because they could, not because of religion. He made an interesting parallel between grooming and the process of radicalisation. He also talked about how he felt the Muslim leadership in the UK (male, older, middle class) was out of touch with the Muslim population where there is a high representation of young women.
Both interviews were really interesting and worth a listen.
