I think this is a bit of a difficult one. It is a true story, set in the 1930s, I am sorry to say, that is probably the way it was. Just need to be grateful that although things are not perfect, we have come a long way.

Were there no women in the 1930s? Confused

Watch 'The Zoo' instead, also based on the a true story and set in the 1930s. The (male) main character lives with his two daughters, wife, and parents (so 4 women and 2 men in the house). The second episode had two extended bechdel pass conversations between the mother and wife (about running the house/business finances, some nice stuff from Anna Fine about losing her role in the family and community after selling their business) and the older daughter and neighbour (about travelling to Africa).

WRT Castles in the Sky, all but one of the named characters had wives who presumably knew each other and sometimes talked. Interestingly Robert Watson Watt had several marriages. He first met his third wife, Jane Trefusis Forbes, during the war. Jane Trefusis Forbes was Air Commander of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, which supplied the radar-room operatives. In other words, there were lots of women involved in the early years of radar.
