I'm guessing it's a female player?

And there's a reason why I can't just remember her name (unlike all the male players). Which is exactly why FWR is the right place.

Sorry, don't know spelling. Or Fara Williams?

XPost. She pretended to be a boy? Wow. So much dedication.

Also Kelly Smith has scored the most goals for England of any footballer.

If anyone is interested there's a thread at the moment (in chat I think) that asks for reasons why people don't like competitive sport, and the lack of media attention to women's sport has been raised as one issue several times

Thanks, Kim.

I don't think the Kelly Smith statistic is correct- there are male players who have scored more

Nishky Sun 15-Jun-14 11:49:22

It isn't unless Wiki is out of date- she has scored 46, Linekar 48 and Charlton 49

Anotheronebitthedust Sun 22-Jun-14 21:27:55

Ah sorry then. Although her page on wiki does say she is...although it gives 46 as the number of goals. Perhaps the other two have some matches contested/some countries don't count? Disclaimer - I know absolutely nothing about football so probably taking crap! Although I suppose she has the potential to score another 3 and therefore get the title as the other two are now retired?

Nevertheless, the point Kim makes is still true - doubt her name would even come up in discussion unless it was qualified with 'women's football'
