What a charming advert

Why a 'lady'? How very odd. Hmm

I think I just needed to share this one!

In a newsagent's window near me is an advert for a 'Topless Cleaner'. Apparently the person advertising doesn't want 'any timewasters'. It's been up for months so I'm assuming no takers!

anyway it is not even legal to state required gender in the advert unless the job is eg cleaning the changing rooms in a women's gym.
not that you can legislate against such wankiness really.

I might defend that if it was for a nervous elderly female householder who wouldn't be comfortable employing a strange man. It would be illegal of course, but understandable. But for a bar? That's just weird, and very illegal indeed.

Maybe they already employ lots of male cleaners and its a positive discrimination quota filling exercise?!

I have emailed their head office

Hi Archie

You may want to have a little word with Peter at your Hitchin pub about his advert for a "lady cleaner"? I am presuming he is advertising for a cleaner in which case this ad is unlawful. Unless he has one of those boob operated Hoovers of course, in which case this ad is fine at not at all sexist.

www.gumtree.com/p/jobs/lady-cleaner-required-pitcher-piano-hitchin-31-market-place-sg5-1dy/1056866117

Apologies if the above ad is not current, and has in fact slipped through a worm hole from 1948. Even greater apologies if it is current and Peter is ruining your brand with his misogyny.

Best wishes,

It's not very well written, so could it be a badly formulated ad for someone to clean the womens' loos? Although, I'd hope they did that more than once a week.

I see it's been fixed. Good work, K8.

Monumentally stupid ad also as no doubt sufficient applicants would have been female so that Peter could have picked a Lady.

6.31 is minimum wage at the moment. It goes up to 6.50 in October.
