No salient arguments so far rape victims are getting clobbered. They need a FWR Mner on there

Oh good god. People are clapping this shit. This is a fucking disgrace. This is utterly gobsmacking.

No... I'm watching Question Time hearing David Starkey saying he (and therefore everyone else) is confused about what rape is. Angry Sad

Not that I expected to agree with him on any subject ;)

Watching Question Time talking about anonymity for those accused of rape.
David Starkey has just pulled out the 2 different types of rape argument where only violent rape is real rape. Idiot.

NiceTabard · 06/02/2014 22:54

It is a car crash.

George galloway who apparently said give them anon (based on what the next pannelist said)
Then tessa jowell who really fucked it up and should have said 1. reid warboys 2. what about murder torture terrorism really are they less bad on a rep the implication is women lie and men need to be protected and etc
Then someone else yar anon fab
Then David Starkey jesus lord preserve us
then a random tory but fuck knows what he said

oh the yar anon fab is some academic woman who is like yeah women is lying bitches gotta protect the boys knowit

Was that a good summary Grin

Was trying to listen and type and throw things all at the same time.

Tessa needs a FWR webchat asap. That was a good moment to put forward the excellent fucking reasons that things are as they are. Lost cos of not clued up-ness. Balls. From a female labour high-profile politician and all.

According to David Starkey, rape is only rape where violence is involved- unbelievable

I'm not watching.

Is it a prime example of why any verdict in rape trials is not really proven beyond reasonable doubt because Joe Public has no fucking clue what that means because they are so steeped in rape myths as to be entirely unsuited to jury duty?

You know, I am lucky enough to not be a victim of any criminal sexual offence, but I am beyond rage when it comes to justice for victims. I cannot even imagine what t must be like for victims.

You people! !!
How condescending.

Report
DebrisSlide · 06/02/2014 23:01

And it is entirely because I am not a victim that I keep piping up about this stuff. Easier for me to do so then expecting victims to expose themselves to fight the good fight.

David Starkey is a fuckwit. That is all.

Oh the tory man said

I didn't catch all of it but caught this and said it back to DH.

He said:
"When women raise these sorts of gripes".

Reporting rape is apparently a "gripe".

Man I am livid all over this sofa.

Is this really the level of discourse? I've seen better. Horrible awful panel and why the fuck didn't tessa have something a bit better to come out with? It's all standard stuff! She looked like she'd never heard of a call for anon before and was stumped as to what to say Confused

And who the fuck is the academic lady who says all women iz bitches innit...? Is she going to say anything else or was she brought on as an "academic" to simply say "women they iz liars kill kill kill"...

???????

What's happening to a woman's right to protect her own body? First we have Amnesty International wanting to legalize prostitution worldwide, next we have Barky Starkey telling us there's no such thing as rape on respectable BBC 2.

Tessa Jowell should be better than she is. She allows herself to get shouted down and as a front line politician I would expect her to be more articulate.

However, she is surrounded by fuckwits this evening so maybe she has completely tuned out and is looking forward to her cocoa and bed

Must be the night for people being twunts about rape. There's a whole bunch of them on a thread about William Roache's Not Guilty verdict today.

Days like this I want to move to the moon Sad

And the rest of the fuckers on that panel, let's not forget them horse.

I was thinking.

Earlier.

There is a global attack on women's rights. Spain, US, UK abortion laws. Pakistan are going to have a nice chat with the taliban about handing over the women people in those areas to sharia law. Mass rape in DRC et al. Afghanistan looking at law so that basically DV will be outside the law,....... And on and on and on.

I looked at what other groups did when they felt attacked.

What happens if women start to respond with violence? The sufragettes did it...

Not advocating that as I am weak as fuck and stuff Grin

But.

There's got to be a breaking point. Women shouldn't have, or be asked to, just go back and back and back and lose their rights and stuff. There has to be a global point where everyone says this is just no good and stops trying to do it through talking, as it obviously just doesn't work.

YY

not guilty does not mean the people who reported were lying.

Police and CPS go for women who are deffo lying.

Beyond reasonable doubt is a high bar, if not met, it doesn't mean accuser was a liar.

I'm depressed enough about fucking amnesty international webchat I don't think I can take watching this.

If only the women who are murdered by men were given this kind of media attention.

I had to switch it off after they introduced the next topic and that cunt Starkey started blithering on about his grammar school days.

What a truly vile panel. Bring back Germaine Greer, indeed any sentient and engaged female would be nice. Or a man? I'm not fussy.

I'm too enraged to go to bed now. This is where we're at in the UK right now. It is deeply depressing.

Why I am I suprised that it is old white men dominating the discourse? And one of them a gay one, at that.

What, exactly, have they got against justice (that we seem to happy with in every other crime) being done?
