Did anyone hear his show this morning? A discussion along the lines of the woman team member (newsreader or weather?) correctly pointing out that men don't babysit their own children and men don't help out with housework in their own homes.

Did I hear correctly that Evans piped up with the comment that the man is paying for it? Followed by backtracking that it was a joke...

He made the comment about him babysitting the other day and was told off by thousands of people. I think he got the point. Didn't hear the housework bit.

I heard the "paying for it" bit as a joke though - he didn't sound serious imo.

The housework bit was in response to something else wasn't it? More to do with doing things right and not getting in way.

Mind - I do sometimes say I am babysitting DD. But that is in context such as "Dh is going out so I am home alone babysitting." I obviously don't mean babysitting as such, but just depends on context. I am sure Dh has done same on occasion but not meant anything by it.

I think you need to get the message accross to other women first.
I work 48 hrs week in shifts, four on four off, two of them being nights and am the prime carer as my wife works full time 5 days a week.
I do all the shopping, cooking, childcare, baths and bedtime stories.
I am grateful to my job because it has enabled me to be closer to my two daughters than most men I know. Essentially they are with me wherever I go six day out of eight.
When they were little and pre school (they are 18mths apart) I lost count how many times some stranger while passing a comment about how cute they were, would tag on "Are you baby sitting?" or "Giving mum a day off are we?"
Not once was it said by a man, every time it was a woman.

I agree with you, I've got another thread where I've said that women have to take some responsibility for the situation too but I can imagine it's not very PC to say so.

You work 48 hour weeks while being the main carer for your kids??? When the hell do you sleep?? Never?

I agree, chris Evans was clearly only reflecting the way he and his wife discuss things, and no doubt many of the listeners. We must challenge these kinds of attitudes from men and women, I can't see why that's unPC. Never got back to rant fully as got a surprise bfp! Looking forward to dp and I bringing up our kids completely differently to chris Evans!

I have never been able to sleep longer than 6hrs.
It was a pain in the ass until the girls came along and then it became a god send.
