I guess they have changed their policy on breastfeeding photos, which I am grateful for, but in doing they seem to have been made incapable of seeing the difference between breasts exposed for nurturing of children and breasts exposed for the titillation of men. Twats.
I'm in danger of being consumed by feminist rage after DH came back from work yesterday with a story about his MD making a quip to an employee at a party about her (15-year-old) daughter modelling for products that treat STIs.
It's not a company as such - a small start-up of a friend of a friend. I'm in no way their target audience, I only 'liked' as a favour to spread the word a bit.
They have form for this, one of the first things they posted was '10 ways in which mountains are better than women' Which IIRC included gems like 'you can ride them all day' or some crap like that. But when I complained they took it down.
The worst bit is that they posted it with the words: "Part of me says we cannot condone this type of frivolous, sexist stickering. But not a very big part...." So they considered the fact that it was offensive and just went ahead and put it up anyway.
A company I 'liked' on facebook has just shared an explicit picture of a woman's bare breasts with a couple of crappy stickers half-concealing her nipples, no head/face in the picture, pure objectification. It was taken as part of a competition to get the company's stickers in 'imaginative places', so for marketing/advertising. I disliked the company immediately and will let them know exactly what I think of them, but my first response was to report it to facebook to get them to take it down - and they won't! They say it doesn't violate their nudity or pornography standards! FFS!
Their standards are as follows: Facebook has a strict policy against the sharing of pornographic content and any explicitly sexual content where a minor is involved. We also impose limitations on the display of nudity. We aspire to respect peoples right to share content of personal importance, whether those are photos of a sculpture like Michelangelo's David or family photos of a child breastfeeding.
Fucking Michelangelo's David and family photos of a child breastfeeding - not exactly the same thing!
