About time.. be nice if it could be introduced in toy store where people can actually afford to shop though too.

I complained after visiting Harrods last summer and noticing the sections labelled "girls" and "boys" in the toy department. IIRC the Harry Potter toys were in the section labelled "boys".

At least they've stopped doing that - it sounds like this is a step in the right direction.

When we visited last summer much of the "girls" section was the ubiquitous pink but I don't remember seeing much blue.

It looks like the Harrods website still has segregation though - as far as I can see you can't just browse "toys" on the website, but have to select boys' or girls' toys.

I long for the day when the plastic AK-47s and commando face-paint are displayed next to the Snow White costumes and sparkly wands. If you're going to make a homogenous mess of society you may as well do it properly.

Helxi That sounds like it would be great to me, though not sure about a 'homogenous mess'.

Is it really that difficult to create a toyshop that isn't gendered, stereotypical or otherwise?

Feminists don't seem to want their daughters dressing up like a wannabe-Katie Price, pink, sparkly, fairy-thing. TBH I don't see how a son of mine dressing up as a machine-gun wielding version of Cinderella is going to be an improvement on this situation.

Although I admit there's a compelling horror to it.
