Tony Parson's balls and men earning less than women

Apparently they would have literally dropped off had his wife earned more money than him

He seems not to be alone in that attitude, but thankfully there's plenty who think it's a weird outdated view.

As it is, my husband and I are earning around the same level, but sometimes he outearns me and sometimes me him, depending on circumstances (redundancies, mat leave etc) and it never bothered us. Why should it be an issue in the first place? Surely you'd want your partner to get the best possible earnings from their chosen profession and not want them to do worse just so you can keep your higher earner status? It is mindbogglingly mindboggling

Yes, it is.

It must hurt when your unearned (and wholly imagined) superiority is shown to be a crock of shit. Diddums.

Yes a very antiquated view. We share money and so it benefits both of us that 1 of us earn a lot more.

Never wondered why Julie Birchill left him?

His sexism is almost as bad as his grammar.

I think at last count, 90% of respondents to the online poll disagreed with Parsons. That is at least encouraging.

Has he got a book coming out or something, you know, and is being provocative for the same of publicity?

Tony Parsons has balls?

His books are mainly sexist twaddle too.

How bizarre. Why do people say stuff like that? They must know that they come across as a bit loony.

Sad bastard

My Dad worked for my Mum. She started a business and ended up employing him.

Oh is also self employed, I am a director of his company, which he always refers to as ours. I do the books I know I earn more than him.

Actually a lot of my female friends earn more than their partners. All of them still have their balls, must be more evolved than Tony Parsons. .

Caitlin Moran had a good column about this in yesterday's Times.

He's a knobhead (so if it did drop off it would be even more serious for him than for most men...). I earn more than DH, have done since I qualified. It's not a big deal.

I saw her tweeting the link but refuse to pay for reading it. Stupid paywalls

I know, drives me mental. We buy the Times on paper because DH likes the su doku - which does at least mean I see Caitlin Moran on Saturday mornings.

He has always been very easily emasculated. I wonder whether he thinks he can fake a youthful, edge still when he instead manages immature and irrelevant.
