Very lively discussion thread afterwards as well - the author is very robust in his arguments.

Thanks for this Basil, it is a good article. I liked this bit;

"In 21st century Britain, the idea that a woman can dress how she pleases, flirt as much as she wants, and lie in the same bed as a man without being obliged to have sex with him, remains a revolutionary one."

When you put it like that the 'she was asking for it' crowd are shown up to be the rape apologist/rapey lot they really are.

I"ve been having great fun arguing with the rape apologists but have had enough now. Grin

oh yes, the comments. Women invite rape by dressing provocatively, being drunk etc. Never mind most women are raped by somebody they know, usually a husband or boyfriend. Rape myths FTW!

God it's exhausting.

Typing the same stuff over and over agian.

Bloody idiots.

But at least it's better than CiF. Fewer out and out loons.

Thanks for the link. I really enjoyed the article. Some of the comments, however, are just hideous. I have linked to the article on my FB, with a reference as to how upsetting I found some of the comments. Am expecting some robust discussion, as sadly, I seem to have some closet misogynists as 'friends'. Perhaps I should delete them, but I would prefer to keep articles like this popping up in their 'news feed', and to keep arguing the feminist POV.

Good article.

Love the payoff:
It seems an obvious point to make, but rape isn?t caused by anything other than the perpetrator?s decision. Oh, and women like consensual sex too, so grow up and deal with it.
