How can mothers not work?

DefiniteMaybe Sun 05-Feb-12 00:08:48

I'm thinking we have a troll.

ouryve Sun 05-Feb-12 00:09:00

Absolutely not. That's as obnoxious a question as those I see asking if working mothers are neglecting their kids. I get quite cross when i see women in a position to choose not to work outside the home being vilified for making that choice. Surely, if women are told they have to work, regardless of their home circumstances, then the whole point of feminism has been lost?

lorcana Sun 05-Feb-12 00:11:31

I can see how it suits some circumstances to do this temporarily but struggle to understand why any woman would choose it as a lifestyle long term . Genuinely puzzled - it seems such a waste.

PigletUnrepentant Sun 05-Feb-12 00:14:16

[wine? mmm, let me get some canapes out, don't want to offend the wine with popcorn... cheese any one?]

MitchieInge Sun 05-Feb-12 00:15:45

PigletUnrepentant Sun 05-Feb-12 00:17:16

[takes the biscuit and spreads cheese on]

startail Sun 05-Feb-12 00:19:50

Fuck off

scottishmummy Sun 05-Feb-12 00:19:59

Not Betraying anyone its individual choice
If woman wants to be housewife that's her look out
Doesn't impact upon me

DioneTheDiabolist Sun 05-Feb-12 00:20:06

No. To assume that they are is to devalue nannies, nurses, cleaners, launderers, chefs and professional shoppers.

SAHMs are totally undervalued by society. The primary purpose of feminism is to promote the value of these women. No?

ElasticNipples Sun 05-Feb-12 00:20:30

no you are- just making a thread like this and im not helping by replying but you have angered me (hmm)
now i will piss off to bed!

women should stick together!
where the hell does all this sillyness come from?

lorcana Sun 05-Feb-12 00:20:47

why ? I am asking a genuine question - it is something I really don't understand . What do these women do all day - especially if children are older and in school/nursery all day? Do they get bored/depressed ? what about financial independence ?

historyrepeats Sun 05-Feb-12 00:20:52

Who loks after the dcs?

LineRunner Sun 05-Feb-12 00:20:57

ElasticNipples Sun 05-Feb-12 00:22:04

LineRunner Sun 05-Feb-12 00:22:43

No child is in school 'all day'.

Himalaya Sun 05-Feb-12 00:23:08

No, just wasting their education.

I don't know what 'betraying your sex' means. I don't see the world as a great big game of It's a Knockout with two huge teams.

ElasticNipples Sun 05-Feb-12 00:23:11

its actually easier to go to work, i take my hat off to sahm's
