Has anyone else come across this new feminist magazine? Looks like the intention is for it to be in print and for sale in shops. I do a like a good bit of print you can hold in your hand.

Looks promising.

When I was a young slip of a girl I used to contribute to a local Feminist mag. It closed down earlier this year due to funding :(

Glad there's going to be another paper based one on the go soon.

Sounds good! I was trying to find out if there were any feminist magazines going at the moment and hadn't had much look, but this seems promising...

Sounds like something that would never sell.

Why not just have a mainstream mag with a more subtle agenda, much more effective at spreading the message. No air brushing, real models, reviews etc.

Maybe because mainstream mags are shit? I couldn't give a monkey's about what nail varnish particular beauty companies are trying to push this month, or how to please my man in bed. Most women's magazines are just trying to sell you things.

And from reading the website, it does sound like Lib is going to have more 'normal' content as well as the specifically feminist stuff - they'll have film, music, book reviews, that sort of thing. I'll be interested to give it a try, anyway.

What a great idea Posie. I'm sure the women doing this one would be able to give you a few pointers for how to set it up. I can't imagine they think their should be the only magazine out there, so then you can cater for even more women.

I used to like Scarlet which is similar to what you describe, Posie. It folded a few years ago.

Alice.... I have a background in publishing, but thanksSmile.

I genuinely think that a feminist magazine would not have a wide appeal and would be hijacked by far left agendas. In order to outweigh printing costs, alone, they would have to have a large circulation, have to be glossy too.
