Never posted here before but I am very interested in your opinions

I am a feminist but don't usually post here, mainly because I'm not as intelligent or well-read on the subject of feminism as most of you, however, I read a lot of the threads and am delighted to be learning more and becoming more interested in the subject.

I went to see a (male) band a few weeks ago who performed a poem about women, which I absolutely loved. I just wondered what you feminists think of it? You can watch them performing it

I think the way he talks about women is quite lovely and refreshing, and I agree with his "pro-choice" message, would love to know what you all think.

I love this style of poetry.

I thought it was good. He was a man speaking to other men, and challenging male behaviour, which is what they should be doing.

There were a couple of tiny things I liked less, where he was moving away from that, but I'm not going to condemn him for that.

Overall, tick Grin

(And hope to see you post some more)

You don't need to be well-read to post, you just need to have opinions! Come on in :)

Glad you all liked it, it was written by Johnny Fox, the lead singer of The King Blues; they're a punk band from London. Their music is great too, their songs are all on Youtube.

Thanks for being so welcoming, when I said I wasn't too well read, I just meant that I might not be able to add very much to your debates; I agree with lots of the things said on here but usually find that everything I want to say has already been said far more eloquently by someone else! I will try to join in a bit more though, so thank you again.

Oh and BooyHoo - there is a written version here but it isn't as good as watching him perform it on stage!

Wow, I haven't posted on MN for an age but I've just read there song lyrics and I'm in awe. I'll watch the vid when I get the chance. I can only hope my son grows up with this attitude. His mum must be so proud.

It's stunning. Technically really good, sentiment strong. Shame about the swearing or I'd share it with dh for the school kids.

Agree, a man speaking to other men and challenging their behaviour... Like how he sucked everyone in too with the title Grin.

Thanks for sharing!

Ooh I've welled up a bit listening to/watching that. Very powerful, and cleverly sandwiched between the shampoo!
