Now, I have not read many parenting books since pregnant with Ds1, but this jumped out at me at the library www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/ref=pd_lpo_ix_dp_am_us_uk_en_my.020mother.020wears.020combat.020boots.020book_gl_book?keywords=my%20mother%20wears%20combat%20boots%20book&index=blendedhere&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

Any book which has a sidebar on how fathers can slap the face of the patriarchy is agood thing IMHO

I knew you were going to say this book Grin

I have it, DP bought it for me when I was pg last year. Its very good, a wonderful antidote to the crap peddled in so many parenting books.

thanks Seth for better link I was ambushed by wakefuol children and never got back to thread. It's a book that made me think about how to talk to my two so thay grow up knowing there are alternatives to the media representation of the mainstream

Looks like a really interesting book, thanks for the link.

BTW I assume you all know cartoon Kate's breastfeeding book The Food of Love which is very lovely (though sadly dd was rather past the point of even my rather extended b/fing by the time I read it).

Just ordered it :) I loved the pregnancy diary bit in the Look Inside preview. (A bit jealous of her interesting conception story too!)

Yes I love the Food of Love. I don't have a copy but I recommended it to a pregnant friend and then borrowed it Blush

Was just looking at my copy last night and wondered if anyone had read it now and what they thought about it?

Upsy, thank you for posting, I had never seen that book and it looks good.

Irksome re Shattered. Why does Asher dislike MN/NM so much?
