Lady Hale gave judgement last week that domestic violence extends beyond physical conduct to include other forms of violent conduct. This includes threatening or intimidating behaviour and any other form of abuse that directly or indirectly may give rise to the risk of harm.

Finally the courts seem to be beginning to understand the complexity of domestic violence

This is good news: Lady Hale is a thoroughly good egg. Did you see the programme on BBC4 a few days ago about the Supreme Court judges? She was brilliant.

I enjoyed it. It seemed a little fatalistic but perhaps inevitably so when one of the men said, essentially that they were all white, middle class men from private schools because that's the only way you could get into law in those days.

Notice how the DM reported it? There is a brilliant and stinging critique of it [http://nearlylegal.co.uk/blog/2011/01/on-the-naughty-step-a-bag-of-wind/ here]]
