Women shouldn't be involved in football, it's a mans game, sacking him was way too harsh.

yes indeed. I am a woman and I don't understand the offside rule. I think this proves that no woman could possibly be capable of understanding it.

Women can't play in a mens' football team but there is no reason why they can't ref it. I don't think having a penis is a requirement to waving a flag about. Or do you also think that women are too dim to understand the offside rule?

Why shouldn't they be involved. 20 years ago people were saying that women shouldn't be involved in banking/medecine, etc as they were mens' careers. Hmm

If it doesn't involve kittens or glitter, then I'm afraid I don't understand.

Snigger, I wonder if he ever found it. What was he doing in there, putting insulation in?

but Viva, women have hormones (men don't, of course) so they might give someone a red card just because they have got their period. Referees need to be objective, don't you see?

I know the offside rule. If the flag's up, it's offside. Wink

Memoo - why bother about understanding it, if you don't play football or ref then you don't need to know. Becasue most women aren't interested in football there are lots who don't understand the rule therefore men like to snigger about this. David Beckham et al come across as being really quite dim, if they can understand it I'm sure its not hard but why would I need to know it?

Doesn't mean that if I wanted to become a ref then I couldn't learn to be one.

(I think its something about an attacking team can't pass the ball to a team mate if that team mate is behind the last of the other team's defenders, but it may be more complicated).

Oh yes, sorry I stand corrected. Forgot all about our hormones for a minute. How silly of me .

Memoo think of it like shoe shopping!

"So, you?re in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the same till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes that you have seen and you must have them. The female shopper in front of you has seen them and is also eyeing them up with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses. It would be rude to push in front of the woman in front of you if you had no money to pay for the shoes, wouldn?t it now. The shop assistant stays at the till. Your friend is trying another pair of shoes on at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma. She prepares to throw her purse to you. If she does, you can catch the purse and walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes. At a pinch, she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper, and while the purse is in the air, you could nip round the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes. ALWAYS remember that until the purse has been thrown it would be just plain wrong of you to be ahead of the other shopper, considering she was there first.

Well done, you just learnt the offside rule."

Sparkly shoes! And then we can explain it to them fit guys playing football and getting lots of cash and they might buy us Jimmy Choos! Hugs! xx

Yes viva he was doing some sort of work thing in his house. Was a new development. Silly tribal football grudgery (hating the villa) was apparently the reason

Ergo men should not have anything to do with football?!

you see what these so-called feminists don't understand is that men 'and' women are different.

(do you like my random quotes for no reason at all? nice bit of satire I thought)

I thought that Grey and the other bloke were just parodying comedians pretending to be a pair of dinosaurs. I'm sure I've heard something v similar at about 6:30 on R4...
