So I was looking for work on Gumtree and found an ad saying "writers wanted" I emailed asking for details and this is what I got back:

Hi there,

Thanks for your interest in the website reviewer position. We are currently looking for honest people with a keen eye for detail to visit various adult sites online and write the things they like and dislike about each. We will require 12 reviews per week which are due by 2pm EST every Friday.

The starting wage for this post is £350 per week which rises after 6 months. No previous experience is required for this position. The only requirement we have is that you submit a 100-word review of the members area at a pre-selected site (www.exposedcelebrities.net). It's completely free to join so don't worry about any costs (be sure to cancel within 3 days or you will be billed).

Please submit this review to reviews@writing-guild.net within 48 hours if you're still interested. This position can be taken from anywhere, it's going to be a home-based position. If this isn't for you we thank you for your time.

Thanks for your time

Any thoughts??!!

Do it. I might.

DSM Sat 21-Nov-09 22:42:20

I shall elaborate.

Why the hell not? £350 a week! I seriously might look into this, thats almost double what I am earning now, and I work 40 very hard hours a week.

suwoo Sat 21-Nov-09 22:42:56

Where do I sign up?

badietbuddy Sat 21-Nov-09 22:43:34

Erm, I would stay well clear to be honest.

if it was annoymous then i wouldnt haave a problem especially if after 6 months the money went up.... however i dont think i would be very good at it and if my mum ever found out i ws up to something ike that she would kill me!

Hi DSM

The thought did cross my mind but I'm suspicious that it's some kind of scam (although I'm not sure what kind of scam) and that there has to be a catch of they offer £350 for 1200words

Thingiebob Sat 21-Nov-09 22:43:59

Is this for real?

CybilLiberty Sat 21-Nov-09 22:44:39

I reckon there must be a catch. Like within 6 months you have to be STARRING in your own porno. When would you get a chance to peruse all these sites?

chestnutblue Sat 21-Nov-09 22:44:45

I replied asking where it would be published/posted but haven't got anything back yet.

Where do I go?! I'd do it!

CybilLiberty Sat 21-Nov-09 22:45:57

You watch, you'll be deep throating before you know it grin

Bleenherbe Sat 21-Nov-09 22:46:03

Isn't it just some perve who wants a bunch of people to send reviews of porn to him to "audition" for a nonexistent job?

chestnutblue Sat 21-Nov-09 22:46:30

Very real Thingie check out the Gumtree link
http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/4811_1.html

This sounds like a scam. I'm betting you have to sign up with a credit card at your first review site (and oh yes you can attempt to cancel within 3 days but then I'll bet your credit card details will be sold on).

It sounds very dodgy. There are a million pervs men (and some women) out there who would do this for free. Why would anyone pay someone.

Have they asked for your bank details yet 'for payment purposes'? hmm

dizietsma Sat 21-Nov-09 22:49:15

Scam, gotta be. Get paid to watch porn? Yeah that's a scam for sure.

melpomene Sat 21-Nov-09 22:49:23

Sounds like a scam to me. I'd expect you'd end up having to enrol for sites and being billed, and then the promised payments never materialise.

LuckySalem Sat 21-Nov-09 22:49:46

oh it could be bleen

EachPeachPearMum Sat 21-Nov-09 22:51:11

Scam could be they want your banking details (ostensibly to pay you...) then they use your account to launder money (ie payments in and out for v short periods of time).

Morosky Sat 21-Nov-09 22:51:18

NO because I would lose my teaching job, damn that code of conduct. grin

Bleenherbe Sat 21-Nov-09 22:51:18

actually wmmc's explanation sounds even more likely. Although why porn in that case? Why not something more anodyne?

chestnutblue Sat 21-Nov-09 22:52:18

Yes I think you're right. They haven't asked for money but I also can't understand where the market would be for people wanting to read a review of a porn site. surely you don't care what the site's like as long as you can see the porn?
shame thought. It's the most'interesting' work from home offer I've seen in a long time

Because blokes would go 'wahhheeeey, I'm up for that' hmm

Sorry that's v patronising (but probably accurate).

LeninGrad Sat 21-Nov-09 22:53:16

No, assuming it's not a scam I would not support this industry anyway.
