This follows on from Richard and Judy and the first episode was on last night discussing Sarah Waters' The Little Stranger. I've recorded it to watch (at 7.30 am mid bedtime routines) and have started reading Blacklands by Belinda Bauer for next week's. I bought nearly all of them quite cheaply from the BookPeople, have read Sarah Waters book from library but wanted it and the Sarah Dunant anyway, and thought most of the others sounded appealing.

Have decided to try and read all the books and watch the Bookclub though all using V+ (similar to Sky Plus).

Anyone else watching this programme or reading the books involved?

I read Blacklands which was ok but subject matter is sensitive

There is something about crime fiction writers style (not all of them) that I find quite clunky and amauterish

Have also read The Silver Linings Book which was a very quick and light read, I enjoyed it

The tv show is not that good, tbh, maybe it needs to bed in

I wasn't that impressed with the first episode of the TV programme - the discussion was given all of 5 minutes.

Think I prefer the Book Show on Sky Arts with Mariella Fostrop (however you spell her name!)

I agree with above posters. Have watched a couple of episodes but they seem to discuss the books very briefly and superficially. Quite disappointed. Also, cannot stand the set and all those moving pictures behind them, very distracting. And finally, it's so obvious that the presenters are reading the autocue almost all the time (except Jo Brand, she's quite good). They really need to work on sounding more natural when they talk!

Sorry, rant over!

It's not a TV programme, but I would really recommend the Radio Five Live book review show with Simon Mayo. It is excellent - really good reviews of books. It's available on iTunes as a podcast.
